The designers didn't think the whole "can't trade and can't use AH" feature through completely to all items like gobbiebag quests when they created the mode. But you'll find that all the GM's & their LS/friends, have everything unlocked without going through the grind. When we confront them they'll claim they just got amazing luck at drops, like always, or they'll pretend they farm high NPC sellable items 20 hours a day. The server as a whole is fun if you want to solo as much as possible but if you want to get into endgame CW mode, you need to become friends with the people who can just generate items for you or you'll never get anywhere. Nearly every person on the leader board is part of the same few groups.
I was enjoying the Unbreakable Crystal Warrior mode quite a bit (even having died multiple times), but I lost motivation when I saw all but one of the UCW players reaching level 75 in Dangruf Wadi or Valkurm Dunes. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I feel like the comfort of low-level zones completely undermines the spirit of the Crystal Warrior challenge. Low level enemies don't provide much danger due to their lack of hard-hitting TP abilities, not much AoE, etc. On top of that, if a fight begins taking a turn for the worst, you can simply unsync within 30 seconds. That removes a lot of the danger and challenge that should be present in a 'hardcore' mode like UCW. I know I am in the minority here, but I felt like my accomplishments wouldn't mean much even if I did take the time to reach 75. I played solo for the majority of my time as a UCW, because I enjoyed the challenging gameplay -- the risk of actually having to fear for my character's life, because I couldn't just unsync and save myself. I knew that if I had reached 75, I'd be in the same league as someone that had spent all of their time from 15-75 in Dangruf Wadi. That's not a challenge, it's just a time commitment. I eventually decided to stop playing, because the UCW mode was not what I thought it would be; no disrespect to the people that choose to play that way, it's just not for me. I will say that I did appreciate all of the hard work that the dev team put into adding custom quests and augmented items, on top of an entirely new game mode. That was impressive, and made each quest exciting.
I hear ya. And they may try to address the Wadi issue at some point because I think you are right. It is kind of a cheap way to get to 75. I have yet to see a garlaige party, Crawler's Nest hidden room party, Boyahda Tree, East Altep, West Altep. So many other xp camps that aren't a thing because of the Way of the Wadi. However with such a low population level sync is a MUST to progress and being that most people are still quite low in lvl it's all Wadi. Maybe when people have most of their jobs at 37 there will ne a new Wadi somewhere.
Yo! Can I switch my char from another server besides wings? Also how hard is it to get Hq items/Gil? I saw you browsing the AH in one video & there wasn’t really jack on the AH lol
Apparently transferring a character from one private server to another is not a very simple thing. I don't know how exactly but the more popular private servers don't really offer it as an option. Probably because it's likely annoying to do and could lead to exploits.
The devs go on and on about having to earn storage space but yet let a ton of people just cruise to level 75 in Wadi. I know this is a complicated issue just from reading the discord and i'm too new to really give an opinion on it but it still rubs me the wrong way. Just gimme some damn storage space that a new player can use thanks. :)
So ... I wont knock anyone if they actually enjoy this but most of what I heard you explaining about this sounds absolutely awful. They are basically trying to turn it into a matchmaking single player game :( I am a horizonxi player after quitting retail again and I really enjoy the pacing and effort it takes to level and do things and its only getting better with the improvements they are doing. Its faster than era but not stupid quick like in retail or regular catseye. The crafting limitations, gear, trading, and the fact that you can basically ignore %99 of the games zones to hit 75 just sounds awful to me.
I find Wadi groups kind of tedious but unavoidable right now. With the "if I die I am set back for weeks" mentality lvl syncing to something safe is a natural result.
Just heard from a GM that CWs can in fact get to 100 on all crafts. So thats awesome.

It's a major issue for sure.
i was thinking about trying it but this sound like more of a headache than what is worth.
What happened to horizon?
Still going strong as far as I know.

I enjoy it :) But I haven't joined any wadi groups either..
