It would be great if you did these spf videos with a friend with olive or dark skin. Some of these products leave a purple cast on dark skin. This video was so informative and it was great that you broke it down by budget and by skin type. Can't wait to see the rest of this series!
Altruist doesn't leave a cast ....when first applied, seems white but as u rub it in it fades. I've been using it for a year under my makeup. Its lovely. I'm dark skinned.
Formula is everything. It really makes a difference in compliance and the amount you apply. If it balls up under makeup, I move on to the next one and use it on my neck and the backs of my hands.
There's one Murad one not listed that is INCREDIBLE: Murad City Skin SPF 50 PA++++. It is expensive, but it's the absolute best mineral sunscreen I have ever used. The tint looks bizarrely peach, but it goes on smooth, dries clear, wears perfectly all day and feels super lightweight. I'm a guy and would wholly recommend this to anyone.
@@i_bleed_makeup It is incredible. I learned of its existence from Gothamista and cannot believe that it's not been duped by other lines. It is easily the best and I've tried so many.
I’ve got very sensitive breakout prone aging skin. My go to sunscreens this season are Beet the Sun by Krave Beauty, Dermalogica’s spf 50 Dynamic Sun Recovery and Paula’s Choice spf 50 in the blue tube for normal to dry skin. Even with my sensitive skin, these chemical spfs donor irritate my skin and they’re great bases for my makeup.
I have a recommendation ~ Boots brand Soltan spf 50 sensitive ~ it is a chemical sunblock however it's clear and doesn't sting your eyes and it's got no fragrance and even some antioxidants in it ~ £6 for a full body size ~ I can't complain
I agree!!.Angie at Hot and Flashy does excellent mineral sunscreen reviews. I can only use mineral sunscreens and the white cast was an issue. I found that applying half of my application, massaging it in well and repeating with the remainder almost completely eliminated the white cast. I even apply tinted sunscreen the same way.
Because of Angie I use the Australian gold tinted mineral sunscreen every day and absolutely love it. It's around $10 to $15. It wears really well under my makeup.
I have used Altruist 50 for a few years now. Face, neck and décolletage it’s amazing. I do sit in the shade. Sometimes you can’t on day trips etc but this in your bag and you have it all covered. I use Altruist 30 over a once a day application of sunscreen and it layers on very well. I like the background to its production too.
I use Your Good Skin every day. I love it. So lightweight on the skin and sits well under makeup. Also it’s a good price and you can afford to put plenty on.
Boots, Soltan, baby, Factor 50, moisturising. It has never stung, although it is chemical. It is fragrance free. It has antioxidants. It is good value, it comes in a travel size in boots travel. It is amazing
Simple Kind to Skin Protecting Moisture Cream spf30 is lovely and doesn't break me out like so many other spfs. Cheap as chips on Amazon at the moment.
Since moving to the UK from Houston, Texas, I have discovered Altruist 50. I buy several bottles and have my husband using it. He HATES sunscreen and this is the only one he will use on his face (almost) daily.
Thanks for the video Nadine! I have oily skin and really struggle to find a sunscreen that I can ear under make up, most break me out. I have the Beauty Pie one, and although it is a light fluid I do not find I can wear it under make up, it just sits on my skin all day. An spf for oily skin that is matte and doesn't break me out is the holy grail!
I love Krave beet the sun, altruist, sunsense mineral and simple kind to skin. Would love to see more mineral based spf as they tend to be less irritating but seem to leave more of a cast.
I absolutely LOVE the La Roche Posay. It’s a 60 SPF here in Canada. Melds beautifully into the skin. Very moisturizing and plays well with makeup. I use it as my last step in my morning skincare routine 365 days a year:) Thank you Nadine for the great share:) Have a beautiful week💕 Tammy Roy 🇨🇦
It would also be good to review 100% mineral SPFs for face and body, but especially for the face and also test the performance of these under makeup. Would you please Nadine? Insert puppy face :D
I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer and the Aveeno ones are okay as well. In the past, I have used La-Roche-Posay and Clarins. A zillion years ago, I used a Lancaster one for the eye bone area.
I use avene cleanance spf 50 for oily blemish prone skin, I have olive skin it leaves a slight white cast at first but after a few minutes it sinks in to skin, then I apply my make up, it is really mattifying I love it.
I never set foot outdoors without a SPF & have indoctrinated my 10 year old daughter to do the same. We use Japanese or Korean ones - high SPF & a great formulation. Our favourites so far are Biore watery essence and Etude House Sunprise . Also they are not expensive and available from reliable sellers on Ebay and Amazon.
Nadine, I have to say that I have used a number of different foundations over Invisiblur and have had no rolling or pilling at all. It may depend on the amount of Invisiblur that you use. Also, some foundations go over it very gracefully and others just seem to turn into an opaque looking mess----I haven't yet determined what causes this.
Waiting, with much anticipation, for the tinted SPF as this is the easy one step way on those lazy mornings. I'm looking for ideally the cheep end and have sometimes dry and eczema/rosacea prone skin. I don't want anything heavy as those make my skin feel like a roast basted ready for the oven. I'm in New Zealand so it's winter and some things will have different formulations, than what you can get in the UK. Love your videos.
I really like the Murad Invisiblur as primer, but if I use as much as needed for the proclaimed protection, it feels awful and doesn’t sit right. If I use maybe a third of the amount, it works perfect under makeup. But of course it isn’t really a high SPF then anymore.
my daily sunblock is lightweight, does not leave white cast, looks good under makeup, does not irritate my skin: neutrogena ultra sheer spf 50. the one that comes in a yellow box. made in korea. costs about USD 10.
Has anybody tried Nivea Sun UV Face Suncream SPF 50 Shine Control? I apply plenty and it sinks in beautifully. Not sticky or gunky, feels fresh on skin. Zero breakouts (unlike many higher end SPF products I have tried) and really does help to mattify my oily T-zone. Sits well under make up. This one is a keeper for me and at about £8 on the High Street....Blimey, you cant go wrong! Lets hope we get a summer now! x
Surprised you have never mentioned the Supergoop unseen sunscreen as it seems like a more affordable version of the murad one that performs like a skin blurring primer. It’s REALLY good! ☺️
I'm actually using lidl face spf. It is chemical but it's really nice. I have really oily skin and it doesn't break me out or feel heavy. Highly recommend ☺️
If you like the texture of the Murad silicon-y one you mentioned first but don't want to spend that much £, Frezyderm do a pretty much identical product but it's more reasonably priced
Would love to know which ones sit nicely under makeup BUT most importantly, ones that are non-comedogenic/very low comedogenic. Breakouts is what stops me from wearing spf. I've had multiple skin cancers on my face due to growing up in hot country (& sunscreens weren't considered when I was young), and I'm now moving to Australia, HAVE to find one that fits both of the above...no breakouts & for under makeup. Does anyone have any recommendations. Many thanks 🙏
I can't recommend Altruist enough, its amazing. Been using it for a couple of years now and when I've got it on my fair skin hasn't burned. My family love it too. I don't like the spray version, it's really sticky so wouldn't recommend that tbh. Another amazing facial spf is ISDIN Fotoprotector fusion fluid 50. Clear runny gel I use in place of moisturiser, really effective.
Thanks for the recommendations I’m definitely interested in checking some of these out. I really dislike the Drunk Elephant sunscreens.. Maybe it’s because I apply a lot more than the average person, but I find them sticky and off-putting.
If you know you'll be in the sun on holidays, should you stop your acids so that your skin isn't as sensitive to the sun? And if so, how long before? Thanks x
Beth Parks I bought their spf30 spray when I was in Miami last year. I loved it - and am very sad I cannot buy it where I live. It just absorbed so well and protected so well, leaving my skin golden with no burns or redness. I love an spf I don’t need to rub in. Usually I wear a waterproof spray from Riemann P20 but it’s not an aerosol spray, which I find the absolute easiest to apply. Just spritz and “boom” you done. Loved that about The Australian Gold. Oh well - always just remember to wear sunscreen😉
One I use everyday is KIehls ultra light daily uv defense spf50 is amazing under makeup no white film blends into the skin perfectly also keep my foundation on all day👍
Just what I needed Nadine, living in Houston and spending most of my time as a hot mess, I’m always looking for a new light weight spf. Thanks Nadine x
Hi! First time watching 1 of your videos and I absolutely loved it! I watch lots of review videos and I never bother to comment! I'm desperately looking for a moisturiser that includes an SPF because I don't currently wear SPF everyday and I know I should, and I hate layering tons of product onto my face (and taking long in the morning!) so this will be very useful for my quest! I love that you ordered them in that way and mentioned the low budget ones!! Lovely, thank you!
Super video thank you Nadine! Your Sunday night videos brighten the end of the weekend! I felt like top of the class tonight as I’d just ordered Beaty Pie sunscreen before I watched! 👩🏽🎓 After a day on the beach, what products would you recommend?
Always look forward to your spf videos ~ if you could put the price/skin type/ sunscreen type and name up on the screen as you talk about them (also the cost in your list) would be very helpful :) thanks Nadine
@@Alli_Sea yes, they can be hard to track down. I've had good luck with ones formulated for kids. The one I'm currently loving is by Isehan, and it's called "Kiss Me Mommy! UV Aqua Milk" (no alcohol, fragrance, mineral oil, etc.). Hope this helps!
I would highly recommend MDSolarSciences Mineral Creme SPF 48. It has a luxurious feel to it, and it does not leave the skin with a cast or shiny. It's spectacular. No irritation.
I pull on a pair of bikini bottoms and a front zip up, short sleeved rashie as I cannot be bothered covering my body in SPF and it’s hard to do your back properly when you are alone. The rashie has cups in it to keep the girls in place and you don’t have to worry about exposing yourself if you are on the go at the beach with children.
irish jen I currently have one from an Australian company called Nip Tuck (though not a fan of the name tbh). I buy online from swimweargalore.com.au who do ship to the UK for approx. £15. If you search ‘sorrento’ on their site, they have a few striped versions of zip front rashies with cups which look to be the same as mine. I have had cheap ones and more spendy ones over the years and all did the job. Look for UPF 50+ to best filter the rays out. Aussie sizes are comparable to UK sizes so if you are a size 10-12 with most of your clothing being 10, choose the 10. They are supposed to be snug fitting. Mine is into its 3rd year!
Please do a video for eye creams with spf! I loved how informative you were in this video. I have that problem of itchy watery eyes when the sunscreen migrated into them so I have avoided using spf around them at all. I want something I can use that won’t sting and burn. Please help!
Nadine you're a super hero for all of us♥ your tips and advices plus recommendations saved our skin and made our beauty regiment working and beneficial thank u
Great info! Looking forward to the tinted sunscreen as I use them as a foundation in the summer months. The mineral one I have been using is great but could be better as it's so thick.
The Solait one is nice but when I took it on holiday last year I recall the 50ml bottle said one tablespoon (15ml) was necessary per application. Seems like a lot of product even for a budget range and made me wary. The Kiehl's one is superb and also Alpha H do a superb Daily Essential spf 50 lotion
It's one quarter of a teaspoon for face and a tablespoon for body. This particular Solait is a facial one, specially designed to be non greasy under makeup.
I do always apply the correct amount of sunscreen, never below spf 50. Which obviously means that a lot of products look shiny or heavy on my skin, which sucks. Altruist is so heavy and shiny... I couldn't even wear it with powder on top, because the shine and stickiness would come through in 20 minutes.
Hi Nadine, just to be clear do we put spf on before or after moisturizer? I think it changes the properties in the spf so I'm assuming there's enough moisture in the spf to wear it alone? Thanks 🙏
Hi Nadine, you need to add Heliocare 360° fluid cream to your list. I'm just back from holiday and it has been brilliant. It has a precise applicator, slightly tinted with a smooth texture. I heard about the Heliocare brand from Dr Nigma Talib, a Naturopathic Doctor. Shelley x
Please, make a video about mineral sunscreens. I use Tretinoin and can not use chemical ones (or anything that has alcohol denat., like latest version of Antelios presented here). Thank you
Thanks for this comment! I am about to start tretinoin and I didn't know I couldn't use a chemical sunscreen. I believe REN have just brought out a new mineral spf, Caroline Barnes did an insta video on it 👍
Kathryn Wright Thank you for the tip. You can use chemical sunscreen, but it is trial and error. Some individuals have no problems, but some have. My skin became more sensitive and I stick with mineral sunscreens.
Hi Nadine, just to let you know a Greek brand called Frezyderm makes an excellent sunscreen like the Murad silicone/ velvety one with spf 50. Try it out if you can and give us your thoughts, always love your input on products so keep up the good work.
@@angelakosmas3218 hi, I like it pretty much. It moves into the skin fast and doesn't have a smell or leave a white cast. I also don't have to use a moisturiser or primer after that😀
Hi Nadine. Great video as always. Have you tried the new Skingredients spf. Only got it this week and am already hooked. Before that I used clarins spf daily
Hi, you are such a lovely lady. I always enjoy your videos especially the Hags ones 🙂 What are your thoughts on the Neutrogena clear face spf 55. I really enjoy it but want to know if that's a good one to use. Ty
Great video as always Nadine. I would be very interested to know of some good powder sunscreens that can be used during the day to top up sunscreen when we are wearing makeup.
Daniela Lutea I’ll be honest and say that I’m disappointed that it’s a granactive Retinol and not a traditional Retinol, but that said it would make a good first gentle Retinol x
I think we have had that la Roche possay anthelios SPF 50 square container for years in Australia. It’s the only spf I can use without issue. Has it been reformulated? The tinted version is lovely except it has a floral fragrance.

@Matthew Mault… 15ml is one teaspoon. You need 2mg/cm2 of sunscreen on skin to get the SPF protection level stated. :)

1 Imperial teaspoon is 5ml
1 Imperial tablespoon is 15ml
I do always apply the correct amount of sunscreen, never below spf 50. Which obviously means that a lot of products look shiny or heavy on my skin, which sucks.
Altruist is so heavy and shiny... I couldn't even wear it with powder on top, because the shine and stickiness would come through in 20 minutes.
Love the Caudalie spfs, they are fragrant though
I’m surprised I haven’t seen any Paula’s choice SPF 😮 but great video 😊 yes tinted spfs please include helocare 360 😊
I love the body shop SPF 50! And the your good skin SPF 30 is great as well
Great video Nadine! So much enjoyed it. Your videos are always so informative xx
Hi Nadine, just to be clear do we put spf on before or after moisturizer? I think it changes the properties in the spf so I'm assuming there's enough moisture in the spf to wear it alone? Thanks 🙏
Ms Heartface over Serums and often in place of Moisturiser as these all hydrate enough x
Check out isdin sunblock. My plastic surgeon recommended it and I’ve been using it for past few years. sunspots staying down
Hi Nadine, you need to add Heliocare 360° fluid cream to your list. I'm just back from holiday and it has been brilliant. It has a precise applicator, slightly tinted with a smooth texture. I heard about the Heliocare brand from Dr Nigma Talib, a Naturopathic Doctor. Shelley x
This was Great & I can not wait for the tinted SPF film!! Thank You!! 👏👏
i find aldi sunscreen less oily than the alturist on my face but the alturist on the body is a bit better because its less sticky
Loved this video but personally I never go below an SPF of 50!!!!
Please, make a video about mineral sunscreens. I use Tretinoin and can not use chemical ones (or anything that has alcohol denat., like latest version of Antelios presented here). Thank you
usmanka1 alumier md does physical sunscreens
Thanks for this comment! I am about to start tretinoin and I didn't know I couldn't use a chemical sunscreen. I believe REN have just brought out a new mineral spf, Caroline Barnes did an insta video on it 👍
Kathryn Wright
Thank you for the tip.
You can use chemical sunscreen, but it is trial and error. Some individuals have no problems, but some have. My skin became more sensitive and I stick with mineral sunscreens.
Wondering your opinion on setting sprays with SPF/factor or using a face spray over make-up. Thanks!
Can’t wait for tinted ones thanks
What’s your opinion on the No.7 spf?
Wonderful review! I’m looking forward to the tinted sunscreens! Thank you for sharing 💞💋
Will be nice to show during the video the price and ingredients + the great video about Spf 👍🏻
Hi Nadine, just to let you know a Greek brand called Frezyderm makes an excellent sunscreen like the Murad silicone/ velvety one with spf 50. Try it out if you can and give us your thoughts, always love your input on products so keep up the good work.
@Angela Angela I've got this one too and like it. Smells pretty chemical first but it disappears fast. Changed to Dr.Sam Buntings sunscreen though:)
@@maggyabc hi, how do you like Dr. Sam?
@@angelakosmas3218 hi, I like it pretty much. It moves into the skin fast and doesn't have a smell or leave a white cast. I also don't have to use a moisturiser or primer after that😀
@@maggyabc thanks for your input.
Maggy abc , does it sit well under foundation? 😊
How come no Clarins SPF50? 😕
Check out "Consumer Reports" on the net or in the magazine for their evaluation of Sunscreen ingredients and products. Quite informative.
Hi Nadine. Great video as always. Have you tried the new Skingredients spf. Only got it this week and am already hooked. Before that I used clarins spf daily
No Dr Sam Bunting's flawless sunscreen?
Not sure if you can get Alastin hydratint in the UK or not, but it’s amazing!!! Medical grade skincare.
Could you do a review of mineral sunscreens please? E.g. Colorescience. Thank you xx
I was expecting to see Dr Sam Buntings Sunscreen in this. Have you heard of it? I'm dying to try it. That and Elta MD.
Hi, you are such a lovely lady. I always enjoy your videos especially the Hags ones 🙂 What are your thoughts on the Neutrogena clear face spf 55. I really enjoy it but want to know if that's a good one to use. Ty
I think all sun protection should be rated for UVA as well as B. They all have the SPF which is great but we need star or PA to ensure VIA too 😕
thx soo much Nadine, brilliant! you've just reminded me how i should be using my invisblur by murad!! xx
BTW, can't wait for the tinted moisturisers!
Great video as always Nadine. I would be very interested to know of some good powder sunscreens that can be used during the day to top up sunscreen when we are wearing makeup.
Colorscience and Supergoop both make mineral brush-on powders.
I too would like to see more mineral sunscreens as most of the chemical ones make my eyes water.
THANK YOU NADINE. ITS SO HARD TO FIND A GREAT SUNSCREEN TO WORK FOR EVERYTHING.😂😙💖👍👍
Hia😍😘🤗
Can you please give us your opinion on the new Nightly serum from Dr Sam Bunting
(I did ask you in the previous video)
Daniela Lutea I’ll be honest and say that I’m disappointed that it’s a granactive Retinol and not a traditional Retinol, but that said it would make a good first gentle Retinol x
@Daniela Lutea it is great. Contains 2% Granactive Retinoid, 5% Azelaic Acid, 1% Bukuchiol and 10% Niacinamide. Love it❣
SVR with bioflavonoids too I use LRP spray for my body AMAZING.
I think we have had that la Roche possay anthelios SPF 50 square container for years in Australia. It’s the only spf I can use without issue.
Has it been reformulated? The tinted version is lovely except it has a floral fragrance.
I thought the same. It always, to me, has a weird kind of film to it. Fine if not wearing makeup but nightmare of you are.
We have different versions in Aust. And LRP has new releases in USA and UK for summer 💋
Beautypie can’t offer their sunscreen in the US.. our fda is in the dark ages.. ugh.
