Nadine, thank you for driving home the point that you don’t have to spend lots of money to get quality skincare. I’ve gotten caught up in the past with watching too many people talking about too many products and spent way more than I should have chasing the ideal. I love your common sense approach to skincare.
I am so glad you said that it's not necessary to use an acid in the morning, that is also my philosophy, I just want to keep my morning skincare simple and then I use either a retinol or lactic acid after cleaning at night, an hour or so before applying a night cream. Thank You. Excellent advice as always.
Love this video and one of the things I like most about your content is you don’t push the expensive/luxury brands. Yes you talk about them but you always cater to everyone’s budgets and to me you seem very honest and open. Thank you 😊
I love the simplicity of this video information. So true. So easy to get caught up and want to buy and try too many products at once. Don't overthink it. Thank you!
Love the invaluable advice, since following your channel I've stepped up my skin care routine and I always use spf everyday now !!!! Only ever used spf on holiday before !!! My skin must be so damaged ☠☠☠
The thing is, to actually get that 50 spf from your foundation you need to use half of a teaspoon (as you should also with the sunscreen) and no one is putting that much foundation on, so from a foundation with spf 50 you are probably getting spf 10 and that is pretty much nothing. That s why people should not rely on the spf in makeup. Also dont refer to *exfoliating* acids as just "acids", it can be confusing for some people or they may think that all acids are exfoliating but acids are a whole pletora that include much more than just ahas and bhas (hyaluronic ACID, amino ACIDS, azaleic ACID, ferulic ACID etc)
lmao its not that deep. noone refers to hyaluronic acid/the rest as ACIDS... everyone knows what she meant by using an "acid" on your face in the context of resurfacing.
I’ve subscribed to your channel for a while. I missed a few months of videos. I’m back now and shocked that you don’t have a zillion more subscribers. Love your content and you! Thanks for these tips.
I apply SPF 50 every morning and if not working will re-apply it later in the day (normally later morning). Even so at this time of year my hyperpigmentation/melasma noticeably deteriorates. I use Dr Sam's Flawless nightly serum and Missha Time Revolution Repair Ampoule both of which help keep my skin smooth (a colleague thought I was in my late 30's, I was thrilled as I am in my 50's!). I am also a fan of Korean Essences, especially Missha.
I am coming up on my one-year mark of tretinoin use. (I baked in sun in the 70s and 80s every summer - loved getting tan / loved zoning out in a meditative state while getting a tan.) It has improved "the skin-texture situation". I started with 0.05% and went to 0.1% nightly. I use a tiny amount (that pea-sized recommendation). My skin has adapted. I put a moisturizer (CeraVe) on first. Let it dry. Then, I put on the tretinoin before going to bed.
Discovered your channel during lockdown. Been furloughed since March so been catching up on your past episodes. Thank you so much for all your knowledge, common sense approach to skincare and budget buy recommendations. Lesley x
I’ve signed up with Dermatica (on my 3rd month), by Caroline’s recommendation. I am super happy with how much better looking, clear of spots and generally better texture my skin is. I think that if you don’t really have a marked condition you’ll probably don’t see much change in using a tret. I’m in love with CeraVe HC, also used an expensive one - what a waste of money although it smells divine - but still prefer CeraVe. I’m now in the process of deciding which Vit C to go for to complete my routine. Thank you Nadine for such great info and options to think about.
My night routine is retinol/retinol/enzyme peel and moisture mask/ retinol / retinol/aha/enzyme peel and moisture mask. So far so good and the moisture mask ( i leave overnight) helps me to stay hydrated. Xx
Thank you for the explanation on Vitamin A. I'm 61 and started seeing a dermatologist for a body check and to discuss skincare. And she won't prescribe tretinoin because she said I don't need it. But she didn't explain why.
@@emmalouise6529 unfortunately, she's #3 or so in a line of derms that just want you in and out. They don't see anything "wrong" so they just want to move on. I just heard about curology, so I'm going that route. Fingers crossed.
Great information. I’m noticing since using a good skin care routine, my pores are more smooth, almost shiny so the dewy look is not so flattering and I just find powder so aging, I’ve ordered beauty pie powder after seeing your five minute makeup video. I would love to see you talk about powder showing wrinkles and dewy showing up pores, even skin tone! 🙏 for everything you do x
Ohhh Nadine I do love your honesty and I have learned so sooo much from u ...Thank you , I dont buy nothing with beauty now until I get your view on it cause I always find a ref to a question I have somewhere in your channel or Instagram!!!! Just want u to now u r awesome ❤❤🏆🏆👏🏼👌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
No I have been in lock down since first week in March ! I started with full makeup on now,on 5 July I just do my skin care but when,I get dressed then,I will put my face one! ! But my skin care is geared towards my skin needs knowing I am ill so I need to compensate for health reasons too . I was using Estée Lauder night repair serum , until I watched a video on missha time revolution time repair ampule with probiotics, my gosh my skin has improved amazingly love it , with secret key as a toner which also has a dilute compound of missha , but my skin looks like glass feels like glass love it but I have also using a face mask three times a week , by its secret key , so enjoying my skin care if I need to be locked down then may as well make it worth my while , So yes enjoying ! But I don’t just use missha I use other serums and retinol and retinol cream , different serums in the morning and yes it’s a three step routine , but oh my gosh my foundation just floats on and stays put until I remove it without any settling into my mature skin ! , all these products has taken me about a year to perfect and now getting the results , Nd it’s had up and downs but now perfect for me but it will change with the seasons I change with every season, otherwise you could get dried out skin ,
I too am a Missha Time Revolution Repair ampoule addict, my skin glows when I use it! Strangely I did try the Estee Lauder night repair a few years ago & it did nothing for me. I am also hooked on Missha Time Revolution Essence and Japanese sunscreens (plus some Korean ones).
Hi Nadine, I just finished my first bottle of PC 1% without the least bit of peeling (strange, it was my first time with retinol). I'm about to start the Medik8 R Retinoate (but in the white pump, the black one scared me !). Your advice is always so useful, thank you for sharing it with us :)
This is excellent advice, thank you so much. I have tried off and on to use acids over the last number of years, but find even the mild ones irritate my skin. I'm just trying to find what works to get rid of my melasma and acne. Finally settled on salicylic acid face wash three times a week in the shower and that seems to do the trick in addition to adapalene and ascorbic acid. I especially like what you said it at the end of this video.
Hi I really struggled with acids on my sensitive/rosacea/eczema prone skin until I tried azelaic acid. It may be worth a try as it's very anti inflammatory. I use it twice a week at night and tretinoin most other nights (depending how my skin is). I also really struggle also with L ascorbic acid, despite numerous different strengths so I use other anti oxidants instead. I hope that helps.
From one Nadine to another .......... thank you 🙏 for all these wonderful informative beauty videos for me to binge watch during lockdown in Oz 🇦🇺 Please delve further into problem skin such as Sebaceous Hyperplasia & pigmentation on cheek area and texture. Would love to know what else I could add to my skincare ...... retinol obviously but not sure it would assist with SH. Those little suckers don’t budge! Stay safe x
Hi Nadine and rest of the girls! Thanks so much for this video they are always so helpful! I am 34 and have a few acne scars, no foto againg and very light fine wrinkles. Last year I used retirides 0,25 and my skin tolerated it well. I want to star up again with retinol but was wondering if it's too much and If I should pick up something a bit softer maybe a skinceuticals 0,5 or a PC 1%. I feel my skin better while using retinol/tret but not sure if due to my age I should slow down. Another product I really enjoyed is Retincare... not sure if it's available in the UK. Soooo good!
Been useing retin a for few years and find not good around my eyes seem to have thinned the skin there I'm really likeing truth treaments retinol 0.5 beautiful product no fillers or anything artificial seems to give even better results than retin a a 30gram jar will last 24 months it's a balm you mix with a water hydration. Iv used many different types of retinol on my way up to retin a and now I find myself going back to it .
This is not true. My dermatologist says I can put retin a within a quarter inch of my eye, carefully of course. The reason they tell you otherwise is because they are worried you will get it in your eyes. Around my eyes is one of the places I really need it so I listen to my dermatologist!
Hi Nadine. Do you have any suggestions for pityriasis rosea? Diagnosed by a dermatologist who said it would clear up over 12 weeks. Still have it 3 years later.....
Hi Nadine! Can you please do a review of SkinGredients? I’m so interested in their philosophy and want to know if that matches what our skin needs. Thanks so much for your consideration.
One question: if you are using a moisturiser with spf and are putting makeup on the top, how are you topping up your spf throughout the day without ruining your makeup?
I don't have a problem with putting 1/4 of a teaspoon SPF on my face, to be honest... I do it every day, with my favourite LRP Anthelios-the improved, unscented version of Shaka it's a pleasure. I have bought Garnier Ambre Solaire sensitive advanced face and couldn't find any information about UVA protection so had a look at their instagram and Garnier person said it's company's secret... May it be only £7 but LRP is transparent and has that info on its packaging UVA-PF 46
Should I invest in a retinol or can I go for a cheaper version? Is this something I should pay more for? Thank you and you are amazingly knowledgable 😘
Hi Nadine, thank you for taking the time to share this informative video. Loved it! I have a combination skin and have hyperpigmentation near the mouth area causing uneven skin tone. I occasionally have breakouts. I am in my 30's and thinking of incorporating retinol into my routine. Would you mind sharing names of some brands for beginners?
If it's just dry and flaky (maybe from acids or retinol?), try Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid and lock it with a nice moisturizer like Ordinary NMF or La Roche Posay Cicaplast.
I have had a question about sun protection for long now . We are told that a sun protection is effective for a maximum of 2 hours, easy to reapply when by the beach but what about when somebody is putting some face make up between 6 to 8 a.m before going to work or simply going out ! Who is going to take off her make up (foundation or even loose or compact powder plus blush to reapply one more layer of her sun protection every 2 hours!!!! What is the solution Apple those very light spf sprays on the too of everything ? This is what I am doing any other solution? I would so much like to Hear your advice dear Nadine.
That two hour suggestion was brought in because people were simply not applying enough in the morning. If you use the correct amount you should be fine. For extra security use SPF 50. It is the amount of SPF multiplied by your burn time. For example if you burn within 10 mins of direct sunlight, an SPF of 50 gives you 500 mins ( 10 X 50 = 500). A sunscreen only degrades in direct sunlight, not through the passage of time. 😊
Please can you talk about azelaic acid. I hear it's good for rosacea, which I have v mildly (just a bit of redness here & there). What exactly does it do & does it do as good a job as other acids? It's harder to find than other acids. Thank you! Emma x
So exfoliation and acids are two different things? I'm confused. I'm using Pixi glycolic acid toner in the morning and sometimes a salicylic acid face wash in my morning routine . It feels refreshing and think it gives a bit of glow. The higher procent stuff I use at night. Never thought about it like Nadine said....makes sense. Am I getting this thing wrong? Should I save my exfoliating acid toners for PM only, If I want to go by Nadines advice?
Hiya, I have using alpha arbutin frm the the Ordinary for almost 2 months and not seen a difference, I am brown skin (South African Indian), with bad pigmentation around my month and have tryed so many things, any advice on what else I cn use? Thanks for the tip on the Paula's Choice.
You don't need to spend that much money for a lactic acid, because we have The Ordinary now! It does exactly the same 10% one is my favorite. Skin is glowing and feels very moisturized every time! I am 48 , I have a dry and sensitive skin and The Ordinary Lactic acid 10% + HA I started to use just a couple months ago, which replaced my face scrub forever. I really recommend it, ladies, you don't need to buy all these expensive things, it's just a marketing.
I use the rationale intense on an evening but the white bottle standard version on a morning, would you recommend I use it before or after my C-tetra intense (also Medik8), I have had conflicting info from Medik8 and I want to make sure I am getting the best out of the products! x
hi nadine , what would you advise for bacne? i see a lot of videos for facial skincare, but not many on body skincare, your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Hi you can use a salycilic acid face wash on your back eg cereve SA wash or the inkey List salycilic wash. An easy to use treatment is the LRP serozinc in an aerosol to spray on dry skin. There are products formulated for body acne on the market (I think paula's choice has one), but as always ingredients are key. If you need a moisturiser cereve has a matching SA cream that's not too expensive. Other brands do fragrance free SA washes (remember just because it says facewash doesn't mean you can't use it on the body). Take the time to check your ingredients on the packaging. Another tip is to always wash off any residual shampoo/conditioner/hair products, so do your hair first. Try switching to fragrance free body products as that will help the skin barrier damage contributing to your acne. As always check with your doctor - they can give you specific products on prescription or recommend what to buy. Hope that helps.
Hi Nadine, I have used Kate Summervilles exfolikate intense today and its left my face very angry, what do you suggest I use to help calm it down, and should I avoid using it again x
Hi there. I know you directed this question to Nadine however I thought I'd share my recommendation. The La Roche Posay Dermallegro serum is absolutely wonderful on angry skin. Nadine mentions it at the end of the video. Top it off with La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume and you will notice such a difference by the next day 😊
know u don't reply to youtube. but, you have very, very thin fine hair, as i do. do you dermaroll and use a type of Minoxidil? I will looks thru your videos to see if u have already done one but if not please do. thanks
Sunscreen for me everyday and I use at least a 50+ I have lupus so it's extremely important for my health... I'm very sun Intolerant ,makes me very ill.....🥺😥😢😓
I just can’t find a good reasonable spf for my oily skin that isn’t heavy. I’m pale and do not like to tan so I don’t want a tinted one. Also I’m in the US where it’s all thick mineral spf. 😫
i have blood vessels on my face and if i use retinol its only make my skin dry i dont feel its exfoliating and blood vessels become more visible. even though i have textured skin and some pigmentation. now i'm using P50 lotion but its same can not see any difference plz could you tell me why its like that.???
The retinol could be irritating your skin, causing the blood vessels to dilate and be more visible. If pigmentation is the main concern and retinol is causing irritation and dryness I would stop using retinol and try a good quality vitamin C serum instead, under moisturiser containing sunscreen.
I like Altruist Sunscreen - it's affordable, has a great formula developed by a Dr (a medical one) and some of the money raised from sales goes to charity. Google 'Altruist Sunscreen' and take a look. Sali Hughes talked about it a couple of months' ago and she knows her stuff (as well as Nadine of course).
It's very oily. If you have dry skin you will like it, but if you are oily or combination like me, it just sits on your face looking really wet and shiny.
Lol you must be kidding yourself if you think Paula's choice provides good UVA protection, you're just getting a UVAPF of like 5 so you're probably getting around 78-79% UVA protection
please do a tutorial on red skin/rosacea
Yes please 🙂
Hello, she has a video from a while ago called "How my sister cured her Rosacea" hopefully that will be helpful.🌻
Do you still use acids at night on redness? Not sure if I’ve got rosacea. Do you layer with moisturizer?
Nadine, thank you for driving home the point that you don’t have to spend lots of money to get quality skincare. 😊
Hi Nadine,
You are the best, seriously :-)
Please can you talk about azelaic acid. I hear it's good for rosacea, which I have v mildly (just a bit of redness here & there). What exactly does it do & does it do as good a job as other acids? It's harder to find than other acids. Thank you! Emma x
Would you use Hydrocortosone on extremely dry inflamed lips?
How does the GOW lactic acid compare to The Ordinary please?
What would you recommend for skin that is so scared from acne and to prevent new spots?
How long would you suggest using the 0.3% retinol before going up to the 1%?
I finished 0:3% bottle off then moved onto the next %
Again introduce it slowly ever other day then increase it
Please what about spf for skin of colour???
Best Vitamin C Cream or serum. I don’t mind spending money on my skincare.
I use the rationale intense on an evening but the white bottle standard version on a morning, would you recommend I use it before or after my C-tetra intense (also Medik8), I have had conflicting info from Medik8 and I want to make sure I am getting the best out of the products! x
Hey Nadine, I was wondering whether the keratin treatment lasted long? I’m thinking of having it done.
Dr Dray
I love her skincare advice...so knowledgeable
hi nadine , what would you advise for bacne? i see a lot of videos for facial skincare, but not many on body skincare, your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Nadine, I have used Kate Summervilles exfolikate intense today and its left my face very angry, what do you suggest I use to help
calm it down, and should I avoid using it again x
Hi there. I know you directed this question to Nadine however I thought I'd share my recommendation. The La Roche Posay Dermallegro serum is absolutely wonderful on angry skin. Nadine mentions it at the end of the video. Top it off with La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume and you will notice such a difference by the next day 😊
Also would you use an acid along with a retinol? xxx
Hello princes MEDIK8 r-Retinoate Intense better then tretinoin or not ? 🙏
know u don't reply to youtube. but, you have very, very thin fine hair, as i do. do you dermaroll and use a type of Minoxidil? I will looks thru your videos to see if u have already done one but if not please do. thanks
Sunscreen for me everyday and I use at least a 50+
I have lupus so it's extremely important for my health... I'm very sun Intolerant ,makes me very ill.....🥺😥😢😓
Can I use my Good Genes with my Retin A? I now use Good Genes in the morning and Ret. A a night. Can you layer them?
Hi, does the heliocare do a tinted one for fair skin and does it contain any fragrance ? x
I just can’t find a good reasonable spf for my oily skin that isn’t heavy. I’m pale and do not like to tan so I don’t want a tinted one. Also I’m in the US where it’s all thick mineral spf. 😫
Is it ok to use the ordinary hyaluronic acid b4 the ordinary 0.5%retinol at night?
I 💯 where a teaspoon amount
Hi Nadine!!! Sunday Riley good geens lactic acid does the same job as the dr. Dennis Gross exfoliating cream?
Is expired SPF not to be used ?
How come medic8 has retinal but no one else seems to?
i have blood vessels on my face and if i use retinol its only make my skin dry i dont feel its exfoliating and blood vessels become more visible. even though i have textured skin and some pigmentation. now i'm using P50 lotion but its same can not see any difference plz could you tell me why its like that.???
The retinol could be irritating your skin, causing the blood vessels to dilate and be more visible. If pigmentation is the main concern and retinol is causing irritation and dryness I would stop using retinol and try a good quality vitamin C serum instead, under moisturiser containing sunscreen.
@@pheart2381 thankyou♡
I like Altruist Sunscreen - it's affordable, has a great formula developed by a Dr (a medical one) and some of the money raised from sales goes to charity. Google 'Altruist Sunscreen' and take a look. Sali Hughes talked about it a couple of months' ago and she knows her stuff (as well as Nadine of course).
Don’t like the skinceutical , it feels weird in my skin and it peels
Where does glycolic acid come?
How good is the ordinary retinol
I’m using 1% ordinary retinol.. I find it cheap and extremely effective. Been using it since March
Can you only buy it online....
I ordered mIne from online Boots. But other websites do also sell this like ASOS
It's very oily. If you have dry skin you will like it, but if you are oily or combination like me, it just sits on your face looking really wet and shiny.
Miss Lana. M. Hudson The Ordinary can be also purchased at their website: DECIEM 👍
Fab👍👍
Love 🌹🌹🌹👍🏼
When i am at home i use Q10 from the inkey list instead of spf. I am a vampire anyways, my windows are covered all year .
Hia😍🤗😘
Lol you must be kidding yourself if you think Paula's choice provides good UVA protection, you're just getting a UVAPF of like 5 so you're probably getting around 78-79% UVA protection
What about Vitamin D? ....nobody should be covering themselves with SPF 50 every single day.
Agree. Vitamin D is essential 👍!!!
Supplement D3 and K2,
