    I done exactly same job in my panda with a very similar Sony unit except I used grey silicone sealer around the facia then the screws left it to set for a day or so !! it was absolutely quite firm after that no movement..fitted the unit then sealed the little gaps with the same sealer then the outer trim and smoothed it out..I’ve no intention of removing it anytime in the future but would be fairly easy with a Stanley blade..looks very neat and hardly noticeable 👍🏼

      @@DrivenMadShow No, I sold it a couple of years back and bought my Cross 4x4. I do miss it, but if I'm being honest the Cross 4x4 with the twin air engine is more fun.

      We would say yes :). - have a look at the one done to the Abarth, will give a good idea - the 169 dash looks great with the big screen in - still think the interior is better than the new ones - best of luck .........

    excellent little job, with helpful... what about the speakers.. didn't think to replace them as well... we have two fiats , both 2013 the twinair auto and a cheap twinair trekking both great and both stereo's actually sound good... i'm sort of addicted to the cheeky charm of the fiat panda as also used to have a 2009 red ( or lets say discoloured and fading orangy red ) 100 HP.

    Caveat: Never done this myself.
    This might be what the Subaru guy has said, however…
    You removed the Panda plastic stereo surround which has the mountings. I would’ve just removed/hollowed out the necessary excess plastic to fit the Sony cage. Then, in theory, the new stereo should slot back into the dash and be supported in the same way the Panda stereo was originally.
    Edit: Now I’ve watched the whole video, I have to say it looks pretty good. The Sony facia appears to bulge at bit at the corners, but with the amount of transmission issues you’ve had, it’ll be the least if any worries and it was very reassuring to hear the stereo work when the ignition was turned on.

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  Рік тому

      The Panda is a bit of a pig - the big standard fit unit does not leave anything to get hold of or use, the AliExpress adapters do not fit correctly (we tried 3 different ones) a double din standard fixing kit has fold outs that do not reach, as most fitments we watched, its a bit of a bodge - Dad is a fussy so and so, thats why we probably bought 5 different kits and eventually he agreed to the bodge here 😂

    My friend the fascia comes with 6 clips that are attaching to the bolt houses (you will see them when you remove the original stereo). You don't have to drill the fascia because believe me they are very strong.

    Hello, congratulations on the video, it is very useful, could you please tell me what adapter you used for the cables from the radio to the original connector of the old one.
    all the best

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  7 місяців тому

      Thank you :) - the stereo system came with all the cables - I believe ( don't hold me to this) the Fiat's have the generic plug, so a unit should just fit - my search to check, gave me this: ISO Connectors: Many Fiat Panda models use ISO connectors for the head unit. These connectors are a standard in many European cars and make it easier to replace the factory stereo with an aftermarket one.

    Hi mate know this is an old video but I have a question, is the fascia absolutely necessary or can you get away with not having it

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  Місяць тому

      Not really, even with the facia you need to do some fettling (think thats the right phrase) - if you stuff the gap perhaps you could and just cut some foam to hide the hole (plastizote foam is top stuff)

    Hi, can you give your opinion about the sony radio, like how it sounds and if the apple carplay works as intended? And just to confirm, whats the model of the radio?
    Btw, beautifull machine you got there!!

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  Рік тому

      The sony we bought (must be almost two years ago now) was an end of line run out back then, so the link to it I just tried is dead (Amazon). I like Sony stuff, but to be honest, it was the price that swung it, not the brand - the unit has been faultless in our time with it - if I compare to our Tcross, the VW system is slower, hangs, will not connect all quite regularly - the Sony, impecable and way faster ( only compromise is the size of buttons are small and can be missed on the move - but thats the constraint of a 2din size) .

  • @Ianw236
    @Ianw236 2 роки тому +1

    What size is it ? I bought a Eonon Double 2DIN 7" but it seems too small

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 роки тому +1

      Ours was a Sony XAV-AX1005KIT DAB + Media Receiver, 6.2 inch touchscreen, so yours should be fine - 2DIN is the critical size (bezel etc differs) ( 2-DIN standard implies that a unit has double the height of a standard DIN radio at 180 by 100 mm, or roughly 7 by 4 inches)

    Need some advice guys my old radio in a 15 plate in a panda car can you recommend which one would fit into the old space and would it affect the sensors i have in the car

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  Місяць тому

      Your car is right on the change from the 169 to the newer 319, so as you have asked on our vid, I will go on that one :) -- its not the easiest job as the parts to fit, just are not exact (we had two goes at this) but since we did this car, I spoke with audiotechdirect.com 01691 886130 about our pickup, they were really helpful and got me the parts in needed - ordering on line we have made many errors and wasted £££ - so my suggestion is call them, tell them the car and what you want (bluetooth etc or apple carplay etc ) and they will tell you what you need - there are lots of cheap looking parts on AliExpress etc, but they are always rubbish and never fit well, so you will spend less in the long run and get a better unit - lastly, will not affect sensors. Best of luck

      Its a Sony xav-AX1005DB, a while ago now, we bought it as Amazon were selling as a discontinued item, for 200 euros - I just looked and they are still available - but ! as everything in life, way more £$£$ than we paid :( its a good unit the Sony - we just fitted a Pioneer to our L200, bought it as cheaper, really good unit (does not have wireless car play / Android auto, need to connect via usb to your phone is the only downside) very happy with it (think its better than the Sony, but thats a personal thing) www.amazon.de/dp/B0919Q3CMH/ref=pe_27091401_487027711_TE_SCE_dp_i1?th=1
