Steam train ride on the spa valley railway , Kent

This train was the famous j94 class steam loco named ugly (I thaught it looked quite nice)

That was a very lively ride! This video is a good example of why locos with short wheelbases were not used on passenger trains, as a larger machine with a longer wheelbase didn't have as much 'wiggle room' on the track.

I should probably add 'where permitted' as of course small branch lines with tight curves were not suitable to larger locos.

Yes I see what you mean the saddle tanks were very wobbly loco's sometimes on that trip it was like it was going to wiggle itself off the track especially between high rocks and groombridge.
