Hell yea love to see youngins like me reppin rebel flags 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
I love watching you wrench on these bikes. It’s very encouraging to work on the easy stuff like carbs with my kids. I won’t try the internal motor stuff you do.
I polish the crank journals so they slide into the bearings, makes assembly/disassembly easy and there is no side loading on the bearings or crank and a small gain in power. I remember my 1992 CR250 had a really loose fit on the stator side from new and never gave any problems and the XR200's I have now are loose in the cases and on the crank.
I’ve had some 4 strokes that are like that with no issue too. I like that idea for sure. I’ve never had any issues doing it like this either.
Great video! Also tip for everyone: do what Morgan said, put a zip tie around the nut and primary drive gear so you know how it goes back on. Previous owner of my bike put that gear in backwards resulting in 1500$ of expenses!
That sucks.
My friend has this 2016 KX100 he bought for about $650 he needs the crankshaft, bearings, seals & gaskets replaced, do you think it would be worth it? He's planning on riding it only for a little then wants to sell for profit.
If he can do the work it will be worth it
I love that you’re shirt said dad perfect
Thanks
Great video mate respect like a pro
Thanks
True story about the wood costs. Hahaha
Hahaha
send me the link of the top end kit plz
You should have way more views
Hi mate love the vids, just wanted to ask for some advice.
Does the clutch side case push up
Against the shift shaft in order to stop any movement’s? As mine with the clutch case on does rock back and fourth slightly and i have been facing selecting issues.
Would you recommend doing a full rebuild on 2001 kx100 my cylinder cracked as long with my piston… the bike isn’t seized but I’m almost positive the crank is going to be replaced as well. Question is it really worth it? I love the bike but dropping $1100 on parts for a 01 doesn’t sit right with me. Also worried I’ll run into more damage inside the case due to being 20+ years old.
I would rebuild it completely. It is old but it really isn't any different than a new one (before the 112 that is).
Do they make restyle plastics for a 2012 kx 100 so it looks like a 2018-2021
Maybe I am odd but I make sure the engine is so clean on outside before doing any work. Did you forget the rubber vent hose before putting halves together? I often take a rubber mallet to the end of the crank one smack spin and maybe the other end that often makes it spin more freely. Nothing more than a smack. Ewan should be happier. To bad he was at school, would have been fun to watch him do the work on it.
I measured the clearance on each side and it was equal so I think it was just a little off on the bearings (ie. Not exactly straight) but it fired up fast and loosened up right away. And I love having it super clean but I couldn’t get into all the spots without forcing water everywhere. I don’t mind cleaning after it’s apart since I’m going to have to anyway in a case like this. Ewan was mad as crap that he couldn’t help but we are in a time crunch to break it in before we head to SD
Does it hurt to wipe any excess case sealant off the outside once the cases are tight?
Nope
Can I put a kx 125 cylinder and piston on my kx 100
It’s also a 1999 model
No you can’t unfortunately
You forget the crank case vent hose.....loool
I know, right after I said don’t forget it. 🤪
What year is that bike. I’m replacing the crank on my 2017 kx100 and the stock crank has two holes and the new one has alittle raised circle think on top of the crankshaft rod like your does. The stock one does not. Also I ordered it for my 2017 kx100 and the hot rods crank says 2015-2016 would it still work?
It should be fine.
@@highlandcycles what year was urs? In ur stock one didn’t have that raised circle one like the hot rods did right?
Do you have a video on rebuilding an older yz450
I don’t
What’s the usual price to get it done both bottom and top end replaced, just for the labor?
In the frame is 8 hrs. Out of frame is 6. We are 90/hr
How many hours did u put on the piston before it blew up.
Not sure. That’s the problem
@@highlandcycles how many hours do you recommend putting a piston on if you ride high rpms
On 2021 KTM 125
@@adamlesny8928 50 max
Could some tell me what year his bike is
2009
is this practically the same as a 2008 kx85?
Almost identical
@@highlandcycles learning how to reassemble this kx85 motor and there isn't really any walk throughs. Thanks!
@@scottschatzberg9966 you bet.
Why not freeze the crank the night before. It should drop in the next morning.
Honestly because I forgot to and needed to get this done so my kid could ride last night.
