    ASP Presents: US Army Survival Training Video, 3 Part Series
    The Psychology of Survival, Part 1.
    This US Army video focuses on the psychology of surviving behind enemy lines. When in this type of situation, the means of survival depends on the individual and their willingness to stay alive. Without the individual's determination to survive, that person will not last and will eventually die. The individual's desire to survive can overcome the discomforts and the fear of the most difficult conditions. Psychological defeat can kill an individual long before the person's body succumbs to the elements.
    On top of the individual's willingness to survive, other elements play an important role to their survival. These elements are water, food, shelter, and injury.
    The 8 enemies of survival:
    1) Pain
    2) Thirst
    3) Hunger
    4) Fatigue
    5) Heat
    6) Cold
    7) Boredom
    8) Loneliness
    SURVIVAL Acronym:
    S = size up your situation
    U = undue haste makes waste
    R = remember where you are
    V = vanquish fear and panic
    I = improvise
    V = value living
    A = act like the natives
    L = learn basic skills
    Your will to live could mean the difference between life and death.

    The RAF had a system for aircrew called a "gotcha" when a survival officer would grab aircrew who had just landed and make them go on a field survival test in whatever the were wearing and carrying, quite a shock. Those who were not wearing the right clothing or carrying their survival gear soon learned the folly of not going equipped. RAF Regiment instructors later put us through a similar exercise, at the time i was a reservist, and they were surprised when i took the survival vest and survival pack of the "dead rear crewman" as well as my own vest. On explanation i said "He would not need it anymore, we might", leaving kit behind like that is unforgiveable and could cost a crew mate his life and your own.

      Great Video clip! Apologies for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Saankramer Land Protection System (just google it)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for Learning how to survive following a crisis minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate finally got cool success with it.

    Two things, 1) I always wore my survival vest and know what it contains and how to use it. I packed hard candies such as lifesavers and gum in every nook and cranny I could. 2) Gilmore just became the new Carl in my book. I knew a couple of these goofballs in my days in the Cav. SCOUTS OUT!

    Why are the aircrew so clueless about what to do & what to expect? The Special Forces guy would obviously be more attuned to this type of work. But surely these two guys would have undergone some type of SERE training already & at least be familiar with all this? They act more like a couple of civvies than anything else, especially Gilmore!

    Well, at least they weren't wearing that pitiful Army "Universal" camo... In reality, the Co-pilot (a Warrant or Comd' Officer) would have successfully graduated from SERE training, would have known what to do, and would be giving the orders. And I would hope he'd have "corrected" his wussy crew chief... The First Sergeant was the only one rescued. Guess the other two drowned trying to swim the river...

People treated me like I just moved out of my parents house.....I don't know why they use actors are in these vids but u can tell they're over doing it. Everything is wrong with this vid.

    Correct me if I'm wrong here but there's a thing called chain of command.....why is this E5 leading when u have an officer who should have gone through evasion tactics training to begin with? I'm shocked this vid says 2015 on it. I'm prior airforce so maybe we do things a little different.....spec ops guys have advanced tech gear and sat phones why is this guy trying to use a shitty hand held? Just saying....specialist needs to keep his military bearing and his hair cut is way out of regs....no one uses canteens anymore...? Wtf is this?
