When Emergency Goalies Play in the NHL

What Happens When Regular People Play in the NHL? Well emergency goalies are one of the weirdest but most fun aspects of hockey. They are normal people that get put into the game when the first two goalies both get injured. It's not common but has happened several times like with the Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, and the 1928 New York Rangers. The first example is when David Ayres stepped in for the Hurricanes against the Toronto Maple Leafs. It was genuinely one of my favorite NHL games I ever got to watch live!
