Because if they have a great draft and sign some talented free agents then we got 2 years to try to make a major playoff push cus we got the skills players on offense taking care of with 2 RBs in David Montgomery&Mike Hubert and now getting DJ Moore to go along with Claypool and Mooney just need some better O-lineman to block for Justin Fields.

Couldn't be a better move. Excellent GMing here. Great young WR corps, great running game. But, they also hedged their bet without actually paying for the insurance. I personally think it clicked for Fields last season, but in the event he is not their guy now they have a plethora of 1's and 2's to find the right guy. I personally think that's going to be a scary offense next season, which will let them use that haul on also getting a monster defense. Great move.

@@bcamm3100 Apples to Oranges though. And the Ravens have invested in pass catchers for Lamar. The problem isn’t the receivers, it’s the sceme. I mean over the past four years only the Chiefs average more PPG than the Ravens, so I think they’ve built around him quite nicely TBH.
People forget the Panthers had some decent draft capital from trading McCaffery. They have #1 overall pick #39 overall pick, which is high in the second round . They have two 3rd round picks and two 4th rounders. The Bears got a haul but you have to have a good QB in this league.
The Eagles traded for A.J. Brown to pair with Devonta Smith and look what happened so trading for a legit no.1 WR in D.J. Moore to pair with Darnell Mooney is going to do wonders for Justin Fields.

@@newagain9964 He was resigned last season to 3 years, 60 mil I believe. He still has 2 years left on that contract. Panthers gained 10 mil on the cap I think. So, the Bears have 2 seasons before it expires and Fields wants an extension. We won't know if the Bears made a good trade until then. If Fields doesn't get a lot better and the Panther's QB balls out then this trade will look bad for them. Same for Panthers, it all depends on if the player they draft balls out or not. If he does the it was a steal.
Moore hasnt really done anything for us anymore and he can easily be replaced it fine but what not fine is not having a qb so getting number 1 draft pick guarantees a qb which will probably be CJ Shroud

!!!!!!!!!! When he’s able to be confident and comfortable he’s a really solid passer. Dj moore and a full offseason in the same offense with the same core should help both of those. Sure up that O-line and he’s gonna make a huge leap forward

This was a HUGE power move for Carolina. They are now setup to build for 10 yrs of success. No more chasing 1-2 year deals on has been or never was QB's. Go get your guy at QB on a rookie deal and build the offense around that QB and Brian Burns on the D side. Love the agressive move by gm Scott Fitterer! Keep Pounding!

I don’t get all the hate the Panthers are getting for this move. They have been trying for a QB for a while now and haven’t been able get one. They tried Teddy B, Sam Darnold, and Baker. Panthers really only gave up a 1rst round in 2024 and DJ Moore. Now Panthers can draft CJ Stroud. I love DJ but he's not elite WR1 and Panther get cap room. Panthers have a really good young O-Line and run game to help CJ Stroud. KEEP POUNDING!!!
DJ isn't considered elite because of who he's had throwing to him his first 5 years. He is replaceable but it's a massive loss in that offense with now a rookie QB

It’s never “too much” for a potential franchise quarterback. DJ is great but he can be replaced like any other skill position. If you think about it we only lost next years 1st and 2nd. This years 2nd (49ers) from the CMC trade. We swapped 1st so that cancels out. We still have our early 2nd that could be used to trade up for WR in the 1st or wait. Carolina got a steal. They get their guy guaranteed.. at 9 there’s a high chance they miss on the top 4 QBs

To trade from #9 to #1 is going to take a haul. It's that or Panthers would be in the Lamar Jackson bidding contest. #1 QB on a rookie deal is far, far less than the fully guaranteed $40 million plus a year 4/5 year contract Jackson wants. Even if it's not fully guaranteed you're still looking at a 4/5 contract at $40/45/50 million a year. Panthers ready to pay that cash for a veteran QB?

You mention Free agency. Imagine being an offensive or defensive (but preferably offense) free agent and signing with a team where you’re not even sure who the QB is going to be. You as a person wouldn’t do that unless they threw a ton of money at you aka overpaying which would then make the salary they “saved” irrelevant. Your defense is very good, your offense just lost their stud RB and WR. You have nothing offensively and those are facts.

Lifetime 🦁 fan here so it’s not like I’m happy or a 🐻 fan. I hate this trade because Chicago dominated this. Imagine a team wanting the 9th pick for a QB and 🐻 trade out of even that pick just a few slots back.
I don’t know if Carolina’s next year will be Top 3 because I do think these QB’s will be good and Carolina’s defense is really nice but I will guarantee it’s a Top 10 pick with Top 5 being a strong possibility. If that’s the case and Justin Fields isn’t the guy next year then 🐻 take a QB. If all Top 10 QB’s were franchise players then bears wouldn’t have needed it cause they traded all those picks for Trubisky.

Panthers only gave up 1rst round pick and DJ Moore. Most teams would have to give up 2 or 3 first rounds. Panthers swap from 9 to 1. What are they talking about like Bears got so much. I think it's a good trade for both teams
No they gave up a 2nd round pick and a 1st round in 2024 and a 2nd round in 2025 not to mention the 9th pick and Moore seems like a lot only to get a small likely injury prone qb

My issue with the trade is carolina giving up Moore so if they do draft their qb for the future, who is he going to be targeting as his #1 receiver. The next closest in yards receiving after Moore was Marshal and he was about 400 yards behind Moore. Its a great deal for the bears obviously. However, it doesn't help the panthers.

Bryce Young has bust written all over him. Size, injury, and program. Young had all the talent in the world around him in Alabama.
What?? He had one of the weakest squads in years this year!! He basically had Gibbs and that was it and still put up great numbers. Last year he carved up Georgia in their first playoff game and would have won both times if Jameson Williams didn’t get injured. He’s got everything you want, he can process, go through his reads, make plays outside of the script and is a leader. Literally the only thing you can knock on him is his size

Alabama didn’t have a weak squad this year they just didn’t have a team as good as they’ve had in some previous years. Name an Alabama QB that’s thriving in the NFL… You can’t say Jalen Hurts, they benched him and he had to go play for Lincoln Riley. Maybe Tua if he could stay healthy but what’s his issue? His size… he’s a bigger dude than Bryce Young. Alabama QBs do not transition well to the NFL, neither do Ohio State QBs. Justin Fields is 1 mediocre season away from getting replaced but at least Fields is an athletic freak. Stroud has all of the measurables so on paper he looks the part, there is no blueprint for Bryce Young. If he succeeds he’d be the first of his kind. I wouldn’t chance it.
@@Ibekdub-xD what exactly are you watching when you watch college football? It’s easy to go through a profession when you have more time in the pocket and open receivers. It’s easy to deliver the ball on time and accurately when you consistently have a clean pocket. How much time on average did Young have in the pocket? How much separation on average did his receivers get from their defenders? There is a reason that Alabama QBs do not transition well into the NFL. Then you add in the fact that the boy is 5’10”, 204, & has already had an injury on the college level.
Anything is possible but this kid has all of the signs of a bust already written in. Why take him unless you personally are an Alabama fan?

Young was their first top rated qb and in todays age height and weight doesn’t mean anything pertaining to qbs for the simple fact the nfl have hella rules in place to protect qbs. But saying young is a bust is a wild take especially when young is proven on top of him playing in the sec with nfl defenses pretty much and then him having bill as an offensive coordinator helps even more for young case

I’m Saints fan so I don’t know the Bears team that well but if they can get great and really good players they quickly change the projection of their team. If I am a Bears fan I would be really excited. If I am a Panthers fan I would be upset giving up draft picks. Just my opinion.

The Panthers couldn’t just sit around and hope Corral is good, they’re losing the fan base and there’s no way they could run out corral for 6 weeks and then go back to Darnold if it didn’t look good. The #1 pick QB is gonna buy them some time by bringing some excitement back to the stadium.

They can still draft another #1 receiver and fill both offensive line and defensive line. This is good before WR are getting paid a premium and that will help extend fields contract and ensure he keeps offensive talent.

I don’t see the hype around Bryce. The shortest QB to win a mvp is Unitas at 6’1 and shortest to win a Super Bowl is Russ at 5’11. Young is around 5’10 there’s just not a track record of high level quarterback play at that size regardless of injuries
