Bruce is the best that ever was and E st is insanely good . I’m 72., I’ve seen the best , and he covers this gem as good as humanly possible. However he’s not as pissed as Eric Burden .He’s capable of 2nd degree , perhaps manslaughter. But he hasn’t committed a murder in the 1st degree here.

I remember seeing them do this live in 1976-77 in New Haven. I was amazed how he took the Animals song and made it his own about his own childhood - this is seroius emotional and musical power!

This song always has me punching the steering wheel. Liberated my mind. Been to 14 concerts and never caught this one. Better than the original

Those arrangements as played by the E Street Band makes me think that it was a lost opportunity to make a covers album a long time ago or simply compile a live album of the covers Bruce and the E Street Band performed back then. Majestic covers that very often challenged the originals, for sure!!

Check out how quiet the crowd is; it ain't because everyone isn't pumped. The earlier audiences especially were so respectful AND in such awe of the E Street Band that it was like attending church. This band slayed every band I ever heard in my fifty-five years of concert-going. I'm seventy, so I've seen Clapton, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Kinks, Tull, Floyd The Stones, Alice Cooper, The Clash, U 2, Love and Rockets The Jam and on and on and NOBODY holds a candle to The E Street Band when they are flying. If you missed them you should only hope they play in heaven.

A staple on the Darkness tour.. a perfect song for the legal troubles he was having with control of his own music.. Very powerful..

Never have seen C on a soprano sax or even with one on stage!

It's not often you'd see the Big Man playing soprano saxophone.

Changed the arrangement quite a bit! I was lucky to see him (for $8) on 11/18 that same year, and I think this was in the set.. thanks for the upload!

And it would not be bad to pay just $6.50 to watch him and the band play for 3 hours, and be able to get close to the stage like it was no big deal.

The end of Adam Raised a Cain is a very similar piece of music to the chorus of It's My Life.

Hello James.....I love your passion for Bruce, but this song was written by Roger Atkins and Carl Derrico for The Animals, back in 1966. Bruce and the band covered it live 52 between 1975 to 1978, then have never played it again. I think by 1978, Bruce had gotten all the anger out his system about his relationship with his father, and then let it go.......he then wrote Independence Day in 1980 for The River, finalizing the story about him and his dad. Keep rocking The Boss!

An amazing job The Boss does on this tune.. Wish there was a studio version of him doing it... Is the bootleg audio for this gig this good?

Bruce, who has only been making music since 1969, originally did a song that was released in 1965?

    • @atticus1712

Released by Eric Burdon & The Animals in 1965 maybe.

It's not a cover - Bruce wrote it!

no, he did not write it. The Animals did this long before this. Bruce made the song better.
