Excellent visual, nicely evokes the drama of this Lawsuit Tour centerpiece. Hearing the (never forgotten) pristine audio of that tour now is truly a gift after only ever reimagining it from bootlegs. Had gone to the Masonic Temple show (the following Tuesday, 2/15) not knowing what to expect: I wasn’t too familiar with him at that point, the Time/Newsweek covers recently happened, and my brother had ordered 2 “best available” tickets by mail for himself and a friend who wasn’t able to make it. We were pleasantly surprised as the usher kept walking us all the way up to row CC (3rd row), but while seated talked of the surrounding hype, as if preparing to be underwhelmed. As the lights were dimmed, we had no idea how life changing/affirming those 3+ hours would come to be.

Listen to what happens with the music underneath the story. First he set's the mood with low, menacing piano and guitar. But when he gets to the screaming match with his father, the sax and piano launch into beautiful swirling melodic loops. It's such a strange and disorienting contrast with the sad story we're hearing. The master storytellers know how to bring the drama.

You can hear Bob Seegar's Turnin' the Page' & the guitar solo section of Pink Floyd's "Dogs" in this song.

I saw the Buffalo show the day after this one. Just after the Blizzard. This is the performance I remember.

"It´s my live, and i´ll do what i want
it´s my mind, and i´ll think what i want ..."
Philosophically, morally and anthropologically, it is wrong, but what a great version! What an atmosphere he was able to create at his concerts before he was a mass artist!

I heard a similar bootleg on the radio in my hometown, late ‘77 or ‘78. Sold me on Bruce as if I wasn’t already. Digging out all the truth in a three-minute 45rpm.

The best version was when he said, “I used to slick my hair back, so he couldn’t tell how llllooonnnggg it was gettin’.”
Don’t know the night, but I heard the bootleg and I’ve heard it 1000 times. Audio version I had had a lot of “cracks”.

I think it's from a performance in the tower theater in Philadelphia from 1975. I have the bootleg.
