Hey Brendan. You should check out canning dam! I've been there a couple times and if you walk across the dam there is old rusty train lines running alongside the dam. I've always been curious exactly what they were used for and when.
Another great video and I really appreciate the Perth history. You may have been told before, and there may be limited information and photos but something to consider is the old army tunnels on Rottnest. Great channel. Cheers
The old maps gave me flashbacks of working in Dumas house many years ago scanning old building documents for the government.. Good times. Hopefully a lot of my scanned images are in a digital archive somewhere.
Love your work Brendan! I'm from Busselton originally, so I'm biased, but I'd love to see a video on the jetty some day! Lots of interesting history there...
Re posting stuff from the state library - it's fine. It's all public information; and we pay for it after all. You're already posting references for those that want to see the real deal - if anything I think they'd appreciate those of us who give a damn being able to see the things you present without needing to rock up in person ourselves. Another great video.
Your content is awesome and comes across as a very personal delivery. Like you've done it just for me! That makes it so enjoyable to watch. Keep up the great work. I feel I found a real gem when one of your videos popped up in my recommended list. And if you do need a bathtub to start putting money in, let me know, I've got a 1970's pink enamel one you can have for free.. 😊
I’m not from the SLWA but you would need to get their permission and/or their advice on how to obtain permission from the originators of those items to reproduce them online. I’d recommend providing attribution below each image in the meantime. Side note: I drove home from Margs via the South Western highway for the first time recently and jumped out of my seat when I suddenly recognised the half demolished bridge either side of the road from one of your videos! Who would have thought 😂 Also I’m pretty sure I’m the blonde kid in the photo from the Ascot Water Playground that’s on your website. Do you know what year it is from?
I don't like libraries so pls don't cut him off state library people, otherwise i won't get to see all the cool stuff he's getting from you and i'm addicted now! I don't wanna have to experience withdrawal symptoms 😢 In all honesty though i don't think it's the library peeps to be worried about but the publishers of any books or similar. Especially in situations where it's being used for commercial gains, which these video could fall into that category but I am by no means a copyright expert or lawyer though. If you're not breaking any library rules i would think you're in the clear from them? And why are you still using chrome when i can see the brave icon pinned to the taskbar! 🤨
Yes, there have been one or two instances where I've referenced books still in print and have omitted those from the blog. Most of the stuff used is really old and a bit obscure... so hopefully nobody minds. Regardless, I always attribute what I use and link back to the SLWA listing. I don't have any personal issues with Chrome. I like how easily it syncs between my devices. Brave is there for my other channel - ROM sites love popups!
Hjya mate. I was driving through Vic Park on Albany Hwy on friday and saw a guy just like you. Of course. now I am wondering if it really was you. I'll shout you a coffee next time if I see you. Stay safe. Andy
@@brendansodyssey Well, maybe one day. Haha. I went there to check out the old tram power pole/tram stop from one of your videos. It's great, learning about all the history here in the greater Perth. Very much appreciate it.
GREAT channel, loved the remains of the Belmont rail bridge tour, I get around that area as well. I enjoy all your podcasts

Will do!
Awesome. Thanks
I've just been into the library on the weekend. Great to see some family history stored there but I now have 300 phone photos to deal with 😅
Cool shirt!
Really enjoy what you do.
Could you make a video on how Perth’s last diesel suburban trains ended up in Auckland, New Zealand?
Sure, added to the list

A cool idea as a thank you to them. Ask the people who work at the library is it ok to make a copy of the video and give it to them.
sick website
