I make this project in a cutting board style and also use 2 magnets. Every woodworker has a scrap pile of mistakes, thanks for sharing yours. Really enjoyed the ending.
Awesome video and very impressive editing. I didn’t even think to use the Velcro to mount it to the wall. Great idea. Did you just stack 2 magnets in the one hole? I may have to do that also!
Beautiful piece of art! Instead of one hole in the center, I would make 2 holes on the back, one on each side to hang in the wall, it wouldn’t be on the way of the bottle opener screws and would make the piece tight in the wall. Great work!!
Great video! If you want to save some time and effort on the epoxy fill and sanding, try a card scraper on the cured epoxy. The thing is MAGIC and saves a buttload of sandpaper.
Your page is aptly named. I like your casual approach to these fun projects. I would be curious to know if any of the bottle caps didn't adhere to the magnets or after repeated testing, did you really care? lol
Haha thanks! Casual projects are my specialty. I have another one of these in my kitchen in my house with like 20 caps still stuck to it. It's holding up pretty good after a few years.
hola , yo tengo que colocar los imanes mucho mas arriba, por que aveces no agarra las tapas al caer..tienen alguna medida especial los imanes?.. saludos desde chile
Hi, nice work. I’ve started woodworking fairly recently as a hobby and really like what you can do with a CNC. Which brand are you using and what would you recommend for a beginner. Do you know any sites where I could find comparisons? Thanks!
Hi there, I have the X-Carve from Inventables and I haven't really looked at others so I wouldn't be able to give another recommendation. I love my CNC and it's super easy to use.
Great question - I thought the color would be more visible since the plug wasn't a snug fit. Turns out, you could barely see the color after it was dry.
@@braydenjaime8149 - threw a link in the description. the rusty/cast iron ones are the ones that i had issues with. the stainless steel looking ones are better in my opinion
What'd you think of the ending scene? I had a good laugh while editing 😂
Very funny, loved it and learned a bit at the same time, THANKS

Thanks Thomas! Yeah, I tested with just 1 and it was ok, but I stacked 2 and it was definitely stronger.
Casual Builds Thank you!
Great video and I loved the ending.
Thanks!
Great video! Never throw those scraps away. You can always make something cool with them!
Thanks! Yea, that scrap piece worked out perfectly for this project, just the right size to cut the plug.

Thanks! I'll definitely do that on the next one.
Good project and video. Thank you.
Next level edits!! Great vid and thanks for showing us the tips. I have a few cheapo openers that require me to tilt the bottle way up. Not good.
Thanks Adrian! Yea, I need to tilt the bottle a full 90 degrees for it to grab the cap. Poor design haha
Cool video, great music
Thanks!

Can you tell me which magnets? I clicked the link but there are different options, 10P-20P assuming this means pounds, not sure which to get
LOL - the ending
The two magnets in the same location?
yeah, made it stronger

Great video and great piece. 2 questions: what was the dimensions and what wax did you use?
I want to say it was roughly 6" wide and 12-15" long. The wax is standard woodworking paste wax.
@@CasualBuilds thank you so much!

Thanks for quick response
What size were the magnets and where did you order them
? Thanks, Bob in Tampa
I have links to the magnets that I purchased in the video description.
Why did you dye the epoxy that you used for the walnut plug?
Great question - I thought the color would be more visible since the plug wasn't a snug fit. Turns out, you could barely see the color after it was dry.
As always, great video! One question - What bit size are you using on the CNC for that toolpath?
Thank you! I ended up using the Solid Carbide Fish Tail Downcut Spiral Bit - 1/16" (from Inventables).
@@CasualBuilds Perfect, thanks man!
@@MrNeaves Anytime!
What were the dimensions of your project?
I honestly can't remember. I think it was roughly 4" wide and about 12"-15" long or so?
LOL now I want to know if the bottle opener I bought is going to cause a problem!
Haha I've gotten a few from Amazon that were much better than the one I used in the video.
@@CasualBuilds which ones would you recommend? I think I bought the same as yours if those came in a 12pck
@@CasualBuilds would like to know what Rudy asked as well
