I think the problem with this video, like the other instructional videos, is that even though it says that it is made for absolute beginners, it explains at such a pace that it is almost impossible for a beginner to follow.
You have to rewind the video countless times to understand what it is about.

I notice that you are doing guitar and vocals...do you have a tutorial with actual keyboards using a keyboard controller and a few sounds inputted into my computer like HALion Sonic LE and a few others as well? I have yamaha thr10II , downloaded the Cubase AI (came with 12) I connected my thr to my pc via bluetooth.
However, THR doesnt appear in list to choose in audio input part

I am trying to directly connect my bass amp (Fender Rumble LT25) to my PC to record in Cubase 11. Even though I can find Fender Universal 2.0 driver on Fender's website, I cannot download it for some reason (has been discontinued perhaps?). Will I be able to direct connect my bass amp using the ASIO4ALL driver? Because this driver seems to only be picking up from my computer mic. Grr...

I received this program for free with a Yamaha mixer. I basically just want to use the program to audio record sermons. I have downloaded the program and activated the license but can't seem to figure out how to even get into the hub to record. I would greatly appreciate any insight you can provide.

Thanks Steffen. If I understand you correctly, to copy an event in Cubase just hold alt key on your keyboard and click and drag the sample to anywhere else. You can also Press ctrl key + D to duplicate it :)

You might mean the info line. All menus can be edited via the cog / gear wheel normally to the right side.

Hi, I dragged and incorporated an arpeggiator and I can hear it as well in the playback in my pc. But as soon as I turn the monitor sign on, the sound is vanished.
However, my monitor (Alesis Multimix 8) is working fine with my instrument which I can very well hear.

The monitor button on each track is for recording. It enables you to hear what is being recorded on any one channel at that time. It has nothing to do with your physical monitors. Hope that helps.

Would you recommend Cubase for voiceover only? I'm a rank beginner, and a Cubase LE license comes free with my Audient interface. Specific questions: 1) I just want to confirm that it's non-desctructive, i.e. I want to be able to test different effects without altering the raw original. 2) Does Cubase LE come with any built-in defaults/plug-ins for narration or voiceover?
Despite Cubase LE being the free version, you can still record and mix vocals and instruments so it's not just for voiceover. Yes it's non-destructive (digital audio). It has lots of plugins to mix voice such as EQ and compression, but not any noise removal.
How do I connect my headphones so I can hear the sound through them? Everytime I plug in my headphones I still end up hearing the sound through my laptop speakers. I need help!
If u go to the studio tab at the top and I think it says audio connections.. u can add and remove audio bus in there.. make sure that headphones is selected as audio out and not the sound card..
I’ll go through the rest of these videos, but even setting the exact tempo, and grabbing what I think is the same drum loop, and making certain that the align beat to project button is on.... the drum loop tempo does not stretch to align to the grid on my set up... not a great sign at the beginning, and frustrating already, and I am not completely new to DAWs or computers, just new to this one.
Is there some hidden “ don’t align” selection deeply buried in the settings or menus somewhere?
'musical mode' which you can toggle on or off in the 'info line' (with a sample selected) is what snaps or un-snaps a loop to the project tempo.
I noticed that whenever i try to move the play position at the top of the timeline, the timeline scale is automatically rescaling at the same time - sometimes in really awkward ways. After testing this more, I see that when I left click in the timeline (ie the blue area if looping is turned on), and move the mouse up or down, the horizontal scale of the timeline starts scaling/zooming. Can this behavior be disabled? Id rather just use the zoom control in the bottom right corner of the pane if i need to zoom in an out. I guess Im just used to 'scrubbing' through a time line by click+dragging the pointer in the timeline, but any slight movement up or down does this timeline zooming which is driving me nuts.
Yoiu can turn it off. Go to 'edit', 'preferences', 'transport', and untick 'zoom while locating in timeline'.
In Cubase AI, is it possible to use 32 bit float for recording ? I noticed that your drop down menu had that option, but can you choose it ? Also, is time stretching available in Cubase AI ?
I believe you can record at 32bit but that is total overkill, 24 bit is ample for any recording tasks in a studio. Using 32bit or 32 bit float will not improve the fidelity of the recording. What is it you are looking to record? You can time stretch audio in Cubase LE & AI :)
@@Borntoproduce Thanks for replying. I was asking out of curiosity about these 32 bit options. During my short research I read somewhere that AI version could only use 24 bit, nothing higher. Perhaps what I read was info about older version.

Thanks again! Yes, I noticed AI letters on top of his screen. That's why I asked in the first place. Wouldn't doubt full functionality if it was a Pro version :) I'm considering upgrade from AI 8 to AI 10 at the moment. This 9.99 EUR offer is tempting. Especially since AI 8 doesn't have Groove Agent. It is installed with everything else, but it doesn't show up in my version.

Probably need to install the scarlett drivers - can be downloaded from their website

What am I doing wrong...I get a complete different view and screen configuration on my pc as the one I am seeing in this video...is this a serious tutorial ?
I just got a yamaha synthesizer and it came with cubase Ai, can't find a tutotial that actually shows how to connect it with USB and it actually working! I play the piano and no sound comes out. Driver is updated, even cords move but no sound. SHOOT ME it's so frustrating.

You could manually make your own folder on your computer (not in Cubase) and put all the samples / loops you want in there or you can just 'favorite' each sample and loop that you like (in Cubase)

You can use third party instruments. I think it is limited in how many, but yes you can use them, plugins as well

When I go to studio>studio setup>VST audio system. My Steinberg soundcard (UR242) isn't there.
Normally that would mean the driver for your UR242 is either not installed or is not working properly. First thing to try is making sure you have the latest driver version installed and if that is still not working then you will need to contact Steinberg Support and ask them for help. Hope you get it sorted :)

I have a good question for you but first I need to tell ya that I took some lessons from a guy about a year ago and he didn't tell me nothing like what you're doing lol so the question is can I just hit record in cubase and then play the kit in EZ drummer and it record it like that ??????
Haha, that's ok Lee, we're not jealous! Yes, as long as you have setup a midi track/instrument track for recording onto and 'armed' it, then just hit record and go for it. It should be that simple

For some reason I don’t have any files in my loops and samples. I’m not sure if the program comes with them or how to get them to populate if the media field is empty. My version of cubase should have come with my MODX8 and it didn’t. I had to contact the manufacturer to receive a download link. I have no idea what this link, as opposed to what it should have, included.
I’m desperately trying to learn cubase and I have no idea if my starting point is accurate.

It’s logged in to my email address. I also don’t see my version or cubase on the downloads. Cubase LE AI element 11. Would that just be cubase elements 11?
I’m an long time Cubase user, close to twenty years. My old computer finally died that was using a FireWire interface, which is now obsolete. I was gifted a computer running Windows 7 SP1, dual core, with 2 gigs of memory. Do you think this computer will run the latest version of Cubase AI using a newer USB 2.0 interface? I never use plugins, Cubase is basically a fancy tape machine for my workflow, I just need the software to work, I’m not a power user. Thanks!
Hey Wooden. I don't think that will quite do it, they say the minimum spec for Cubase 10 is 4GB of RAM and also you need to be running a 64bit oporating system. You can run it on Windows 7 64bit though, although I think Windows 10 is a better choice. You might find it still runs on your spec of pc but I can't test that for you. 3. Then select empty.
4. Select save project as....

Enter name " outputs three stereo pairs"
7. Select studio from main menu
8. Select setup.
9. Select output.
10. Select preset
11. Choose 3 stereo pairs.
12. Create track
13. Select output in left panel.
14. Choose which stereo pair you will route track to.
15. UR44C -------------
16. Connect outputs jacks selected in step 14 to the plug of audio cable and the opposite plug of the audio cable to the input jacks of an audio amp.
17. Audio Amp--------Connect speaker wires to the speaker output jacks of the audio amp.
17. Attach the opposite side of one speaker wire to a speaker.
18. Then attach the remaining speaker in the same manner as described in step 17.
19. Apply power to audio amp.
20. Select input number or name of input corresponding to the input jacks used in step sixteen.
21. Adjust volume to minimum.
23. UR44C----------------
Insert instrument(s) and/or
Microphones to inputs 1,2 or 3,4 or 5,6 as pairs. This is only required as pairs for the purpose of demonstration.
24. Adjust the input gain of each if the channel inputs used to approximately 25 percent of maximum to obtain a signal flow.
25. Adust volume output if any volume output adjustment, is available on the instrument(s) and/or mics to 25 percent of maximum while viewing the input meters
Of the channel strip in the mixer Windows.
26. Repeat steps24 and 25 in order by increments of 5 percent until the input meters
Indicate about -6dbs on the channel strip.
27. Increase audio amp. Volume until a sufficient sound pressure is achieved.
Now wasn't that easy!
I have conflict between my web browser (playing this youtube video) and cubase. It seems I cant have both functioning at the same time. By default, my project Audio System ASIO driver was set to " Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver", and this disables the browsers ability to render the audio from this youtube video the instant cubase loads. I get audio from cubase, but no audio from anything else, including windows generic sounds. I get an error from youtube saying my audio device was reset and I need to restart the computer. Which I did, but this doesn't fix the problem.
If I go into the Studio Setup, and change the ASIO driver to "Realtek ASIO" (my on-board sound card), now youtube works again, But now there's no sound coming out of cubase. Apparently I cant have one without the other??
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
In the 'studio setup' window, you can tick the box 'release driver when in background'. That should sort it. To tghe other problem of no sound. You may find that you need to reconnect the outputs, in the audio connection window after you have selected a different driver. Once this is setup, you should never have to look at it again :)

Hi, thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it. You mean when you 'save' the project? If so I have never heard of that issue. You can try re-installing Cubase and making sure you have the latest update. If that does not work then I would suggest contacting Steinberg as that is beyond our ability to help (if it is a bug, which it sounds like)

Hey Delaine. I totally understand your confusion. LE, AI & Elements are all different versions. The problem is that Steinberg gives you one file and that file can be either LE, AI or Elements, depending on the activation code you use to activate it. For LE and AI you normally get codes with some audio interface of other hardware you buy so check the info you got with your UR22mkII. Both LE & AI are quite limited though. Cubase Elements has more to offer but no harm using LE or AI and seeing how you get on, then you can upgrade if you want. If you do upgrade to Elements, you will also need a hardware dongle called an elicenser, which you also get from Steinberg. Hope that helps

@@Borntoproduce Thanks! I managed to redownload all of the loops and samples. But now a new problem... I cannot hear any loops when I audition them or track them. However, I can hear my own recordings but nothing else. I checked out the video but nothing seemed to help. Any suggestions?
@@chestershanks1926 Try turning the global mute control off (if it is currently yellow). It's the 'M' at the top of the project window, of the global 'S'olo button next to it for that matter. That's my best guess if you have tried everything in the problem solving video

I'm not even sure you can just download it, I may be wrong, but usually people get it free with hardware they have bought
I still use an old Cubase LE that came with my keyboard about 10 years ago. To me seems more straight forward to use than the new Cubase. Why would I need the new Cubase? I want to say I get 15 audio tracks and 64 MIDI track plenty of tracks for me.
