I had a great uncle called keith that fell off of a power station cooling tower and survived only to later die from falling down a mine shaft a few years later and getting stuck under the lift. gruesome but not a boring way to at least
My name is Keith but I’m not as cool as your great uncle 😂😂😂

It's interesting how some first names convert into surnames. When the grandfather of one of my friends came to our country, he was just called Raphael, no surname. When he registered, my country required him to have a surname, so they just used his first name again and effectively changed his name to Raphael Raphael, and a new surname was born.
Fun fact I didn't realize Keith was predominantly a boy's name until I was like 10 because it's my maternal grandmother's name. And she is definitely not boring lol.
I’ve played with name data in a class project. I was pretty shocked to find that a bunch of girls are named Anthony. There were 52 in a certain year. In this case I’m not too surprised by a female Keith.
Here in Gothenburg, Sweden, Keith was apparently somewhat popular as a boys' name, I guess around the 40's-50's. What's weird about it is that it was always pronounced "Kate". I still can't get my head around that.
My name is Keith and honestly people love to say my name because it’s not common like the name Mike or John or some other common follower name. Im also happy that most people think my name is boring, I’d rather not here my name unless it’s addressed to me. Keith. 😝❤️😘
"th" makes such an unnatural sound. Many non-native speakers have trouble pronouncing it. I wonder why it exists in English. Does it also exist in other languages?
it exists in quite a few languages. apparently in ancient times it was much more widespread. Here is a link to a map: www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/69qq0a/map_of_languages_with_the_rare_th_sound_as_in/ Here is a list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiceless_dental_fricative#Occurrence en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiced_dental_fricative#Occurrence
Yes, in Greek as the letter theta θ, in the Spanish of Spain in the letter Z, and in Icelandic. In fact, the English th is an original Germanic sound that English preserved while the rest of the Germanic languages in mainland Europe (e.g. Dutch, German, Swedish, etc.) merged it with D. Hence, English - thank you Dutch - dankje German - Danke English - three Dutch - drie German - Drei English and Icelandic, having developed on their own islands separated from mainland Europe, wasn't affected by the shift.
@@danniesolis96 I never saw "the" as "z" in Spanish. You just broke the code for me. Thanks! I find saying the "the" sound so unnatural 😂 now I just have to learn to relate it to "z". 🤗
I once thought my name sounded nerdy and wanted to change it. Then I was told it was cool because of Keith Moon and Keith Richards. Now you're telling me my name is boring? Thumbs down.
As a teen in the 70's, keith was every where!! It seemed every tall, slim, smiling with beautiful strong white teeth, and that fringe which fell in his eyes, was named Keith. He was the cool popular guy who was genuinely friendly with everyone at school. The smart Keith didn't have a steady girlfriend, but was friends to all girls. Yes, Keith is something else......now that Monte he was a boring one.
May I say, sir, that I am really enjoying the vids with your actual 3-d visage (instead of your flat avatar). Quite impressive beard and Celtic 'fro. Also, seeing the expressions on your face adds to the narrative. Looking forward to seeing more of you (wait, that's a double-entandre) ...to seeing you more (that's better).
Great video Patrick! 👍😊I only know one Keith. He's my dad's friend. I mean, I'm pretty sure he's an exciting Keith. He should have named one of his sons Keith Jr to keep the name going... Alas it was not to be.
I was *almost* called Keith, after some bloke who’d died in WWII. Mater changed her mind at the last minute and named me after the ephebophile butcher of Khartoum. Not sure which is worse.
Short for a cognate of Lodewijk, Ludovicus, I would guess. Means "famous/loud warrior". Names like Louis, Alois, Luigi, Clovis are also cognate. It's originally a Frankish name.
I have been a supply teacher for eight schools for over 5 years now, so I have met several hundred children in my community, and have never met a Keith.
I know of a Keith but that being his surname, Albie Keith. He plays for Hashtag United, a non-league club created by a UA-cam creator few years back, and coincidentally they are playing their 3rd ever FA cup game today live on the BBC.
One more exciting Keith is the Keith Flint from Prodigy. They had another Keith there too, but he used stage name Maxim. I remember when I discovered the band back in the 90's I thought the name Keith was really cool, in fact to my Polish ear all their names sounded cool and aggressive: Keith Flint, Leeroy Thornhill even Liam Howlett. I wonder if in the west Keith was already considered a boring name back then?
Didn't know it was boring as I'm not english. Didn't know it was originally a surname that turned into a first name either. Same happened with the name Spencer...
Keith is a great name. It's common enough I can find it on a mug or keychain, but not so common that I need to also use my last name or a nick name. We have 4 marks at work, we just call them by their last names. I have three friends name Tom, who get called beach tom, fat tommy and Thomass. Yet I've always been the only Keith.
Keith is an anglicisation of coit which is Brythonic Celtic meaning wood. It’s modern equivalent is the Welsh word ‘coed’ meaning wood as in small forest. And yes my second name is Keith and I’m Welsh so maybe should change it to coed
Keith is my dad's name. My friend swears that when he first met my dad, he successfully guessed that his name was Keith just by the very dull and disconnected way he carried himself. My friend could have just been lying, of course, but knowing my dad, I believe it.
Keith Richards is the Rolling Stones guitarist, who occasionally sings a song (Mick Jagger is the usual singer). Mr. Richards is, perhaps, one of the greatest and most influential rock guitarists of all time.
I know a Keith in his 20s (we went to school together), he's quite an outdoorsy guy, and I'd consider him an exciting Keith. I know of 4 other Keiths from school, but I don't know them that well (because we didn't do many of the same subjects or weren't in the same year group, I wasn't deliberately avoiding them for being called Keith)
It's a generational thing. It's usually more obvious with girls names. Women tend to not want to name their daughters after their own grandmothers, because, although they may live their grandmothers, they think of them as out of style or otherwise not with the times. An example of this was, when I was growing up in the 1960's & '70's, there weren't any girls my age named "Stella", but a couple of generations before, Stella was a very popular name.
I must have very good ears, but I kept hearing a thumbing sound throughout the whole video. It was making me so anxious because I thought it was my parents knocking on my door.
My dad's middle name is Keith, or maybe it's Kevin? It's one or the other and he always likes to pretend it's the other one because he finds the real one too boring. I think it's actually Kevin and he thinks Keith is less boring. I have no clue. Just interesting to me to hear that Keith is considered a boring name.
