I've not thought about this enough when it comes to Fortnite and its life cycle, but I remember hearing sometime in Season 5 or 6 that Epic has pre-planned content for the game. And apparently, at the time, they were ahead by whole seasons...
I don't know whether this is true or not, but it sparks a question. Has Epic been doing such a minimal amount of updates for a reason? We mainly see patches or nerfs in the game nowadays, not much new content, however it could be because Epic planned to do this months ago. I'm sure that most games can't predict every move they're gonna make in the future and they can't get too ahead of themselves, but the idea that all of this content could've been pre-planned is a bit wild.
Everybody keeps referring to the times when "Epic listened to the community so well", but what if the content that was in the game during that time was planned all along. And there was just an element of luck involved that helped boost the company from the bottom up?!
Yeah, they've said that they are always ahead. I'm sure they make some adjustments as the events approach, but maybe recently they've had to make more adjustments which leads to the delays?

A quick thing about the crate, many game companies use the same things around the map(s) to save on space, I know stw is fully different, but it just makes it a lot simpler for the teams at the company. This means that you don't have to download like 500 different crates with different numbers, and it also means that art teams can work on smth new and not changing numbers on crates. That's why games like Rainbow Six Siege, COD Warzone, etc are so big, they have similar things, but still different, meaning that it's a new file, and another thing to render.
