Man, yesterday when I woke up and got out of bed, I collapsed to the ground. I couldn't stand up. I was too dizzy. I had to crawl to the bathroom because it was either that or I piss/shit myself. While in the bathroom I was thinking "THIS IS IT! I'M GONNA DIE! OH THE HUGE MANATEE!"
It wasn't it. I drank a glass of water, ate a piece of bread and I was fine. I was severely dehydrated. My AC didn't turn on like it normally does so I was just absolutely baking and sweating for about 5 hours. Normally, I'd be okay. It's happened before but I guess I was a bit dehydrated before I even went to sleep. Also, I have a pesky, lingering neck injury that exasperated the whole ordeal. Neck injuries can cause a lot of dizziness.
If you find yourself getting dizzy a lot and have no other symptoms, obviously go see the doctor but you just might have a neck or spinal injury and you don't even know it. Looking down at your phone a lot is a common way to do that :p (also riding dirt bikes).

What it do, guys! I forgot to turn down the ISO after the check the lume and I think I like it a little higher. It's not that noisy! On my monitor #2, it's super washed out, though. Oh well. It's been a ridiculously busy week for me so I'm surprised that I got this video out! Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Welcome to the Vostok rabbit hole!! I have 4 different Amphibians so far. The only one that hasn't been modded in any way (even the canvas style strap was decent) is my Amphibian #SE-420B06 with the fully lumed dial and 24hr indices instead of 12hr indices. I love these watches!! They are super easy to regulate, and you can mod the crap out of them!!! Thanks for sharing!!

Great review! Vostok has stepped up their game a lil, the bracelet is not an abomination as they all used to be, a lot of the options come with decent silicone straps also now. Also, seems they are going with the stainless crowns all the time now, they used to be chromed brass, even on the Amphibias. And only the Amphibias used to be stainless cases, the Komandirskies were chromed brass. Also the bezel is actually decent now.
My last Vostok, which was a Vostok Partner, was just terrible. It put me off them for a while but I'm glad I got this one. It's not the prettiest but I'm glad that i got it! I'm definitely going to get more to review and hopefully, mod!

I have an old Amphibia with the KGB dial that's given up the ghost. I'd been thinking about replacing it, and this cinches it. You must mod this watch. There's so much stuff out there for that. We need to see what you'll do with it.

Btw, for avoiding overnight dessication from faulty ACs: have at least 1 (ideally 2) glasses of water next to your bedtable: one uncovered (so it evaporates over night and keeps a bit of moisture in the air), and one covered (or in a bottle), for drinking when you wake up.

Hey Curt, nice review & great harmonizing by the "boys" on "Check the Lume"; catchy little number! ;-) Btw, I'm a big fan of Vostok with half a dozen of them, mostly Amphibia's & Komandirskie's. One thing I do love, is sure they are a little rough around the edges, but built like a tank & can be regulated to be very accurate & fun to mod. Straps, bezels, crowns, hands, even crystals can be changed easily!
I am going to look into changing the crystal however, I am liking this acrylic dome. It's got character. We'll see! This might be a good mod for sure! Thanks, man!
@@minitwatch - I actually like the acrylic dome too! People always talk about how easily acrylic scratches, but neglect to mention that anything except very deep scratches buff out very easily too, with either polywatch or toothpaste. You can't do that with mineral crystals! ;-)
@@TheGoodwolfe So true :) The dome on my Alpha "Daytona" is acrylic. It got scratched up. I polished it and it looks new :p
Looks like the bezel issue is crystal distortion. It looks fine to me. That said for a $75 watch I wouldn't complain.
It's not the bezel but the dial itself. It is most definitely crooked. It doesn't bother me too much.

Nice review and love the musical score 👏🏼 I Got the K-34 which is a higher price range Vostok and really like the quality including the brushing but just thought it was slightly chunky. I’m going to get another one at that $75 price range because they look fun. I’d love to see a strap video and like a Bonetto Cinturini on it and maybe some other straps. Thanks 🤗
After I get something that matches it, I'll do a straps video :) I'm also interested in a K-34 but yeah, they are a bit big for me. I think people would like to see them, though. I'm glad that Vostok is making higher quality watches these days.
To me, everything looks aligned. I think it’s a bit of an optical illusion, coz the dial printing is asymmetric and you have that funky hash Mark running around the beL that gets thicker. Plays tricks on your eyes. I’ve got a fleiger style watch with a date a5 six, in some lights I would swear the date wheel is off centre in the window, it’s just a trick though.P.S. the Lume Shot intro is now on my favourites mix. I watched it about ten times...
It is defnitely misaligned just a little bit. I've measured it. It's very slightly off but you know what? I don't care! :p. I still like it. I check it off as a quirk. I'm glad you like the song :p. I swear, one of these days, i'm just going to make it available for everyone to download. It could be a good ringtone! ;p
Oh well, $75 for a watch made to good USSR Cold War standards, not everything will be spot on. I’m waiting for my Scuba Dude to arrive, hopefully this week,
Vostok are such great watches for the price first smaller watch that got me into wearing 38 mm . I highly suggest a Vostok if your looking into smaller pieces and don't want to spend a ton just to see if you like the size plus they look great on a lot of Natos .

The case is no sharper than the new Rolex subs, the bi-directional bezel is designed that way since when submerged more than 10 ft underwater has the pressure lock it into place.

Nice video, congrats on your 1st Vostok. No you're not seeing things. It's the same with a lot of the Amphibia models too, of which I own several. I'm never sure if it's the bezel markers at the 3 and 9 or the dial being misaligned. It's just as you say. For such a low cost you learn to forgive it. They are great to personalise with a modded bezel, hands, dial and bracelet. You can even get exhibition casebacks. On saying that. I like the long seconds hand on the Komandirskie range and tend to leave them as is.
I don' know if I want to change anything! I kind of like it as it is! Maybe, just maybe if I can put an AR coated sapphire, I'd do it!
Alignment looks fine to me. Maybe it's an issue of parallax?

Too bad it’s 20mm lug width. I’ve got a bunch of yellow accented straps for my SKXA35 that I woulda sent ya. If you open the case, maybe you can rotate the movement to line up the dial. The movement spacer might have just enough tolerance to shift it.

They could have made it awd and it would still have been slow and it spent more time in the shop than it did on the road! Her parents bought her a GTI to drive when it was in the shop because she was in love with that car and VW's. I am pretty sure we broke up because I was constantly telling her they were junk and would spank her with my junkyard built Daytona! She married another VW guy so they must have been perfect for each other :)

after 3 times replacing i got working watch, and sold it yesterday...
bcoz of plastic instead of glass, its a biggest con of this watches after unstable low quality movt

My last Vostok was absolute trash. I am hoping this one is better. The acrylic dome is somewhat of a "tradition" if you will. I am hoping to mod this watch into something "better" but I welcome your thoughts!
I have huge experience with Vostok - so far so good. Very satisfied with quality and accuracy.
Mr xXx actually even Rolex had Acrylic crystals in many of their watches back in the day. I have a dozen of them. Work great! The worse offender I had were my Seiko 5’s. they all broke some easy. My Vostok have taken far more abuse & keep working. If you scratch the crystal, a minute with poly watch, & good as new.

For Vostok that is excellent alignment. I love my Vostoks, but you have to remember that it is drunk Russians building them. So none of them are going to be anywhere near perfect. I just have have to totally get all the horrible imperfections out of my mind to enjoy my Vostoks or it will drive me insane.
