Today we are taking a look at the classic Komandirskie by Vostok. Specifically Model 811275. A $40 mechanical throwback to 1960's Soviet era engineering. Complete with a tank, and some over sized missiles.

I have an Komandirskie since 1995 that should be from the 80's and is totally functional. The case has lost part of the chrome coat but it does not matter to much, I became old too. I have an Amphibian too ( automatic movement ). But I like my relation with the Komandirskie,

Komsndirskie was my first vostok and I still use it in my EDC rotation. I now have 6 and plan on getting more.
I was in the former USSR/CCCP in1990. I bought at least 6 of these as gifts. I still have one & it still works keeping pretty good time! Recently I bought an Amphibia & love it! Well worth it just for the mechanical side plus talking point.👍

I have loads of these magnificent watches, many of which are Soviet era. The Amphibia really is the AK47 of watches.
I find myself wearing my Amphibia more often than any other watch I own. And yes, I wear it with the original metal bracelet. And no, it does NOT pinch or otherwise be uncomfortable when it's adjusted correctly. And yes, my Vostok watches keep very accurate time.
I'm binging Vostok videos because I just finished my first mod of a Vostok Radio Room Amphibia and have been scoping out my next project. I have a Komandirskie on the way with a different bezel, hands and insert. It's addicting, to be sure.

I have both Vostok models. Both are extremely accurate. My Amphibian is my daily wear. There is something special about Vostoks that only owners can understand.

Very fair and thorough review! In fact, recently started looking at some of your older reviews and just became a new subscriber! I love the Vostoks, and have seven so far, including both Amphibias, Komandirskies, a SE GMT, and currently waiting for the SE 020 model with unidirectional 120-click bezel to be back in stock. Great job!
I've got a Komandirskie coming... Green face with red star, parachute and jets.... it kind of makes me think of Heineken with the color and star. I look at these kind of like Swatches.. quirky and odd, something you might want to collect and have a few of. Can't wait to get mine!

Man! I can't believe I haven't bought one one before. They do have their faults, but the huge negative about Vostoks are you can't buy just one, and are VERY ADDICTIVE! Now I just bought eight of them. They are just absolutely awesome for the price.
Amphibia or Komandirskie? There is no "or", both are great timepieces worth collecting.
