    I think that when a pet like Watson is injured it is a whole lot tougher on us owners than it is on the pet. Animals are able to just get on with life while we humans fret about these things. In this respect I wish I was a dog, especially with all those hugs and kisses. 😌

      My question is, why did she wait so long to bring him to the vet after the injury?

    • @FilippaSkog
      @FilippaSkog 3 роки тому +6

      Indeed. My dog lost his vision during his senior years due to progressive retinal atrophy, an incurable genetic disease. He truly didn't suffer but lived on very happily for several years without eyesight. We had to modify a few routines, like always he'd walk into things and/or lose track of us and get distressed, but as long as we did that he was totally fine.

    • @sporks3256
      @sporks3256 3 роки тому +1

      I feel like there's a lot of stigma to having less than 20/20 vision. There are plenty of animals and humans who were either born with a degree of blindness or lose some vision and still live fulfilling lives. Of course it's very unfortunate when an accident like this happens, but my daughter was born with her optic nerve not fully attached in one eye, limiting her vision in that eye a lot more than a "normal" eye, but her life is full of laughs and love. Especially because this happened at such a young age for the puppy (as well as my daughter being born that way) it will almost feel as if he's always been that way as he gets older. He will learn to cope with a different visual perspective and hopefully live a fantastic life just as great as a dog with full vision. Sad, but there is always hope and happiness if all goes well after surgery and the owners are as committed as they seem! As much as vision loss is seen as a physical disability, anyone with it can live a great life regardless. ☺️

    • @sj4iy
      @sj4iy 3 роки тому

      @@sporks3256 We brought two little miniature rex rabbits home a few months back...and one was blind in his right eye from birth. We purposely chose him, because we wanted to give him and his brother a good home. He has turned out to be a feisty little thing, and we simply make sure to talk before we pet him. There is a stigma around animals with disabilities, and although this owner isn't completely responsible for what happened to their dog (leaving the puppy in a home with an adult cat and then waited so long the eye was unsalvageable), the dog will learn and adapt and be a dog.

    I didn’t understand how serious eye injuries were until I worked at a vet clinic. EYES ARE EMERGENCIES. They could be able to be saved one moment and then in the next hour, your gonna have to take out the eye because it gets worse. Eye injuries should be seen by a vet ASAP ! Most people don’t know this, but waiting a day to see a vet could mean losing an eye

    Misty Blue is so tiny! Surgery on tiny animals and surgery on old animals is so risky. It is a hard decision to make, but you want to give them every chance you can. We just had my daughter's 17 year old cat go thru a thyroid cyst remove so she could breathe and eat and liver cancer surgery. Unfortunately, they couldn't get all the cancer but at least it is a low grade cancer and she probably won't need to have it again. She is doing fine so far, thank goodness. She is my autistic daughter's emotional support animal.

    And then that happens. I'm so sad some people can't understand whatever forms of bully is bad, that the bullied can be forced to defend themselves with catastrophic consequences. This puppy had to loose his eye for his owner to understand that.

    Hello Gerardo and Alex we miss you two being on here l go back and watch your video again and again. I especially liked the one when your dog was suffering from neurological problems. How you and Alex teamed up and held it together. I'm glad your dog was treatable. It was nice seeing you both walk along the beach. We do need to take time to enjoy what we can that is so readily available. I didn't want to say this at the beginning because l was just hoping you two would read it but l hpe all has been going well with your medical issues and your new baby. God bless you and your family. I hope to see you both soon.

    Misty Blue is so precious. I miss having cats, but with five dogs cats are a no go. Hugo is going to make a great big brother.

    When Hugo said _”you survived”_ I absolutely bawled my eyes out. If you didn’t there’s something wrong with you.

    Rescued an old bruiser of a cat used to fights. He came home once beat up, torn ear, scars everywhere. I commiserated but he just said, “you should see the other guy”. Well, I didn’t but on closer examination, there was a cats whole claw hanging from the corner of his eye! No damage to his eye though.

    Now, we can only hope that Misty Blue will be a house cat and not allowed to run loose outdoors. Best way for a long and healthy life.

      @Mitzi Miau Nah. My sister used to have cats. She had to work. they stayed at home, inside without any problem or an aberrant behavior problems. Same with my two boys. Indoor house cats from day one and quite content. Same with my mother's cat ..... an only cat. She was content to be on her own during the day ..... had plenty of entertainment with watching the birds and other wildlife outside and mom would always leave a TV on tuned to her (the cat's) favorite station (mom know which TV programs she would actually watch (if she was elsewhere in the house, when the programs would come on, she would dash to the room with the TV and get comfortable in her favorite chair and turn into a couch potato during "her" programs. She was a sitcom rerun junkie and when a program she didn't like came on she would either turn her back on it and take catnap, or leave the room, get a snack, watch some outdoor activity, and then go back when her next program would come on. "Only cats" can be quite content on their on during their person's working hours.

      @Mitzi Miau Oh, she had the requisite climbing post with platforms and a box to hide in, a shorter scratching post, lots of play mice to bat around, pounce on, stash in her favorite hiding places (like under my mom's pillow) and she caught the unfortunate mice who were dumb enough to invade the house ...... only she didn't eat them, it was fun to watcher simply terrorize them until they apparently died of fright or had a coronary from the stress ..... then she would present them to my mother to dispose of ...... I say dispose of, because se wasn't happy until she could watch my mother take "the dead thing" out of the house.

      @Mitzi Miau depending on where you live, it’s either kill all cats or keep them inside.

    I loved watching all the care of the animals, however when the dog threw up I almost did to. My boy Dozen ate a stuffed toy. He had to have major surgery to have it removed. He did survive, and is now an 8 yr old spoiled boy. No more stuffed toys in this house now.

    Looking at that tiny kitten. What a picture of pure innocence! It just shows how marvellous God must be! So glad that you managed to save that little precious gift from heaven! Life on earth is not perfect. There are struggles and as a vet, you must wonder why, but you do your best to make all the creatures who come to you, better, and thank goodness for all those that you help. Sometimes you must get very sad, but you carry on doing your best, every day. Your optimism helps so much.
