I was a city girl (Toronto) met and fell in love with a farmer from Prince Edward Island Canada....and was on a huge learning curve for the ladt first 25 yrs of married life. Now, even though our children have taken over the business....he still loves getting out and into the tractors and getting the crop underway and harvesting when the time is right. Retirement doesn' t seem a goal... farming is in his blood.
Josie and Charlie, I just wanted to thank you both for vlogmas this year…for some personal reasons, this Christmas just hasn’t felt the same to me, and this is my favorite time of year so it definitely feels like a loss. But having your daily vlogmas videos has been one of the few things that have made it feel a little more festive. Thank you for that 💕💕

Yeah guys farm shops are fine but not the holy grail. What they sell outside of the growing season is shipped in just like at any supermarket. And my humble grocery store actually sells Brussels sprouts on the stalk, imagine that! They're fun to grow, you should try.

Support the farmers … absolutely … but let’s remember that a good portion of the UK are struggling to heat their homes AND buy food (and do not have their own kitchen garden) … so buying from farmers markets / farm shops is not a reality for them. I would prefer a more grounded vlog series that shows how (and if) a couple can buy local farmers produce on a shoestring budget that is comparable to their regular supermarket shop. My weekly shop (Farmers market vs Lidl/Aldi). I also think this would show you both how hard it, thus giving you another perspective to think about!!
I agree with this, promote healthy eating in general without alienating half your viewers who can't afford these expensive farm shops
My channel covers reality but I live in the Algarve …people don’t want to see reality🎅🏼 I see UA-camrs doing similar to what I do but farming in white linen dresses is not practical but their channels do way better because people want escapism 🎄🦌🌞have a lovely Christmas

Literally could not agree with you more and glad to see push back on this rather than the sycophantic gushing from others. It demonstrates such a lack of connection to the dire reality so many are facing. I get closer and closer to simply not watching anymore. And promoting local and criticising “things made in China” and saying they’re not setting foot in a supermarket but working with Amazon (and ordering from Ocado), I mean there isn’t even consistency there! What is the message?!
Look, if you can't afford to buy all organic and can't grow Any food at all, then at least get real high quality protein from organic eggs. all the nutrients are in organic eggs.❤
I don’t normally comment but it’s the likes of Hovis & Wharburtons that help to feed my children …. The cost of living crisis is real 😢 it’d be joyous if we could all afford to shop at the likes of Dalesford and farm shops !

There are farm shops everywhere across the UK and sell fresh local produce at great prices.
As an American, I really appreciate your support of your local farmers. I truly believe that this is so important for our own country’s future. I am planning a visit to England this summer, and the Cotswold is hopefully on our list. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Bravo to Charlie for talking about the need to support local organic farmers and how vital it is for the environment, our health, the economy and the beauty of the landscape! I too am lucky enough to live in a state (in the USA) where we have many small organic and some biodynamic farmers. While I don't eat meat most of my friends do and I know that I can get grass-fed, organic beef and pork from the local dairy and chicken from another farm. I grow what I can in the summer and support my neighbors for the remainder of my food. Thanks for raising awareness! Blessings to you both and to the sausages!!!

Escapism does not equal shallowness. It has an important psychological function. And Josie tacitly acknowledges this. We had our grandchildren at the allottments near our town and they were delighted to see brussells, pumpkins and all sorts growing. They were surprised and delighted and we got some lovely photographs. Some children never get to see vegetables growing naturally .

Go back to Highgrove but book a garden tour next time. We had an amazing day and the guide was so knowledgable. She was quite candid too and was happy to share a lot of info. I have luckily worked with both Prince Harry and Wills. It is their Dads hone. Yes he is the King but its where he relaxes and potters about. Thats why it’s so special. It’s his love and dedication to organic gardening that sets the tone and its full of his unique spirit. Merry Christmas. Vlogmas has been great.

Why do British farmers over-rely on employing migrant workers to pick all the crops?
Because British people don't want to do it. They'd rather receive benefits whilst sat on their sofas in front of the TV. Also many farmers do not pay a decent wage so they exploit migrant workers.

I really enjoyed listening to Charlie being passionate about British produce, raised ethically. Lovely that Josie didn't interrupt something that Charlie feels is so important. I have been on the makeup, skin care and food chemical free, purchasing selectively, for over thirty years. So its great to see younger people supporting ideals that will eventually save the ecosystems, heritage landscapes, and our oceans. Charlie is so thoughtful and it takes a lot of research to get this information, so I enjoyed his support of British and environmentally friendly farmers and those employed in this industry. How lucky to live in this area of the UK.

Love your passion and support for farmers, our government and across the world are slowly destroying our ability to produce our own wholesome food… They want us to eat GMO food. Growing up our garden was full of veg, the greenhouse was full of tomatoes, today’s gardens are all paved over and lined with artificial grass, what has happened to us….we need to go back to simple clean living.
