I do not mean to be critical here, this is simply for your education. The proper BMW coolant is blue with a 50/50 mix of distilled water. The bleed procedure is as follows: put the car in accessory mode (key in position 2, do not turn it on), heat settings on high, fan on low, then push the gas peddle all the way down and hold for 20 seconds (you should then hear the coolant pump tun on, this means the bleed procedure has started). The entire bleed procedure takes about 20 min. Once done, check your coolant level and top off if necessary. I personally like to run the bleed procedure twice, just to be sure all the air is out.
That is the correct procedure for N54s, N55s, and I believe B58 and other modern turbo motors from BMW. S65 does not have an electric water pump to cycle coolant with the car in accessory mode.
Do love the Becky content, but would just inject a note of caution/common sense on a few bits for anyone that would watch this video before undertaking the same jobs themselves: - It would make more sense to drain the engine oil first whilst the engine is hot (it will be thinner and drain better) and then by the end the engine will be cooler, ready for the coolant drain. - Not to labour the point others have made, but in an engine like the S65 you really should stick to the OEM spec coolant (Ethylene Glycol based) rather than the red/pink (OAT type). Especially true regarding not letting them mix (as per my point below) - There are two Allen-headed bolts further up the block (under the V) which you need to remove to properly empty the engine of coolant. They are a pain the arse to remove and refit due to access, but trust me there is loads of coolant that comes out when you do. Having not done this, you will have sadly mixed red and blue coolant on quite a high ratio. May be worth doing another flush sooner rather than later. There is way more than 3 litres to change on the S65. It’s closer to 8 litres from memory. Please don’t think I write this to disparage your excellent work and content, I just want to make sure us DIY-ers know the full picture before we embark on these jobs.
Comment section heroes losing their mind over the 'wrong colour coolant'. You can use either - just don't mix them, which you haven't. Pink is better suited for larger engines, why you'll always see heavy duty vehicles like tractors and HGV's use it. 30 years of servicing I'd always use the pink stuff, lasts longer. As for using a vacuum gauge filling method I saw someone mention...this is a 2007 design car... not a blummin 2023 G80 - ie, it's not needed.
I did a coolant flush on my Alfa 3.2 v6 busso I put the blue coolant n I got slaughtered for not using the pink stuff I thought the same as you as long as you don’t mix the 2🤷🏼♂️
Mr vanos and evolve recommend motul power 8100 5w50 due to the rod end bearings. Mr vanos has found there to be far less bearing wear on the thinner oil as the uk just isn’t hot enough for the 60 to be as effective avoiding wear in the cold starts / first 20 minutes.
