The French team is as good as ours. They have a better defence and the best player in the world in their front line. Alongside Dembele, Greizman, Coman, Thuram. They are all playing at high levels for top clubs. Even IF you give our players the nod in ability and I think that’s generous, Kane, our marquee striker, simply goes missing in big games. Mbappe doesn’t.
Now our midfield I think is the best in the sport. But I think their defence is clear of ours and the front line is a pick em. They also have a coach who’s won silverware.
We have a wonderful chance to win. Best in my lifetime, but let’s not go into this thinking it’s ours to lose. We can’t afford to overlook opposition, or put too much pressure on the team by suggesting they should walk it.
I don't think it's a general feeling that we are going to "walk it". We all know we make stupid mistakes when we really shouldn't. It's a feeling that if this team could snap together just so, it could be brilliant. Personally i feel great anticipation and great worry in equal measure. We could win it or eff it up kind of feeling.

Englands biggest problem is the defence in general.
I love stones but hes been in and out of the city team this season and struggled with injuries and has no reliable partner at centre back then there is the problem at left back as well. Also the fact pickford might not have let england down yet but hes not a strong enough keeper.
Strong defences are what help win tournament football we see it both in domestic and international football.

It amazes me people never learn when it comes to international football and tournaments. Tournament football is all about having a very solid defence, a balanced midfield and then some star quality up top to change a game. It's not some crazy tactics, free flowing beautiful football. Games are rarely easy wins, often tight hard fought wins.
The things you need to be strongest in, defence and balanced compact midfield, is where England are the weakest.

France and Germany have a better midfield than England?? Eduardo Camavinga dominated a UCL final recently and Tchouameni is so important to the reigning UCL and La Liga winners that they haven't lost without him. Griezmann for France is one of the best international performers itw over the past 10 years. Germany with Toni Kroos(coming off his best arguable season with Madrid), Gundogan(Barca's best midfielder), Gross/Andrich(invincible with Leverkusen), and Wirtz have a more balanced midfield. Even Spain and Portugal's midfields are on par with England. Spain with Rodri, Pedri, and a pick'em either Zubimendi/Merino/Fabian, and Portugal with Vitinha/Bernardo/Joao Neves, Palhinha, and Bruno.

england won't win. There's only one defender who is both fully fit and world class, Kyle Walker. That's not enough to win. As good as we are offensively, we're not going to be scoring 3 goals a game and unless we can do that, we won't compensate for defensive weaknesses. future is bright though. 2026 world cup will have virtually the same team but with 2 more years experience. That's when we could actually win.

In short, no, we won't, Do we have better players than previous iterations of the England team? Yes absolutely, the Elite Player programme and structured pathways brought in by Dan Ashworth has brought us to a point where we are creating technically gifted players, I think there needs to a few generations of players.coming through before we see a truly immense team, even then we will be held back because we don't develop managers with a comensurste level of tactical acumen. In 10 years time we could have a squad where Saka, Mainoo, Bellingham and Foden are the seasoned professionals leading the line with technical and gifted players, yet we will loose again and again if we have managers of tje quality of Southgate or god forbid Potter at the helm

England don't have and rarely ever have midfielders who have the skill and fotballing iq to control a game. Maybe Mainoo will have this ability but I'm not sure yet. Rice has other good qualities but he can't do what Kroos or Modric or Pedri do. England have always undervalued what these sort of players bring to the team and it's one of the reasons why they always lose.
