Ste nailed Rio on that point about not being able to keep the ball against Serbia. It was tragic. Our ‘world class’ players should be able to do that with ease, and if they can’t, they’re either not that good or the tactics are wrong. I would go with the latter option
Keeping the ball isn't about tactics. If a coach needs to tell a player how to not lose the ball they shouldn't be getting paid to play.
I disagree because Phil asked for the ball alot of times in spaces during that match but it was never passed to him unless he had to drop too deep to midfield to get the ball passed. The players didn't wanna take any risk in missing passes.

Get the best out of the top players in your Team. Build a Team to maximise opportunities at your disposal. Play a 3-4-2-1. Bit late in the day now but a sort of W M, a bit how Leverkusen. Saka on the left as naturally left footer to provide width, get the best out Trent to provide the crosses. Give Foden the freedom to roam the front line area, drop deep to pick the ball up and drive at the opponents defence. Bellingham to stay high up, push beyond Kane. If we come up against a low block play inverted wingers, then move Saka out to the right, play who’s performed the best in training on the left, Palmer, Gordan, Bowan, or Eze.

This is the way! It's the only formation that gets all the best players on the pitch. In attack, Trent and Saka hug the touchline and aim to get to the byline, Rice and Mainoo hold and cover the defence.

1. Get Foden to try and run in on the defence more instead of coming deep for the ball or just play Gordon instead, if insisting on Bellingham as the CAM. Need more movement around the opposition defence.
2. Play Kobbie instead of TAA. Need more press resistance.
3. Get Gordon on the pitch in the second half if he didn't start. He can exploit those tired legs well- Gordon and Trippier will do work on the left.

Rio is spot on. Mid season breaks are a huge factor & main reason Germany used ro be so dominant in tournaments. They used to have 6 weeks off in Dec/January. Then in 1997 they reduced to only 2 weeks off & thus have only won one cup since 1996. Our 3 🦁 boys should just strike during January before tournaments. So what if they get fined, they will earn millions from endorsements as world champs.

Foden and Saka should occasionally switch sides during the game. Saka would probably provide more width than Foden on the left, which is deparately needed as long as Trippier is LB. And when Foden drifts inside from the right, he can have TAA or Walker on the overlap.

What game were you lot watching? Foden was constantly asking for the ball off Rice…rarely got a pass. Bellingham had Foden screaming for the ball 10 yards away from him…Bellingham decided to try and take on a player 3 times instead of passing. Bellingham looked lazy as fck in the second half. Foden was the one pressing their CB’s and then when defending, was back behind Bellingham whilst he jogged back. Go back and watch that second half. Massively into himself. All about Jude. Not a team player.
Thank God Ste came back. It's just not the same without him in the mix.

England should play 4-4-2 formation or 4-1-3-2 formation , we need quality and numbers in the midfield . Play in Wharton , Mainoo , Rice , Bellingham together , and play Forden and Kane upfront . Bellingham , Forden and Kane will score the goals . We dont need wingers to drop and assist defence at this stage , we need midfield that links defence , mid and attack .
