HI, I just found you and love your channel. I am more your mothers age but think your choices on clothing and make up(haven't seen all the videos yet)are timeless. Will watch all of your videos and keep me happy, lol. Susan in S.C.
Great advice, Erin! Tried and true, all these tips have stood the test of time. I'm 52 and remember my mom telling me all the exact same things as a teen. I love you in glasses!
I love a clean neutral look and have a couple colors to add and also like houndstooth, pinstripes, small polka dots. Love these videos I always learn something new or something I have done from teenager what looks good on me and body type. I really love shopping for expensive brands and finding them in places a friend helped me find. Always they have to look new and I can get items that have not been pre worn. It is so worth looking around where you live and can find these places, as I was a Macy's on sale and Nordstrom etc. but then I found same great items new, never worn for a song. It's just something that is fun to do with a friend. :-) I am loving binge watching your videos and will go to the blog as I am fairly new to your site. Thank You so much for you give the best tips and tricks and especially for petites and taking into account body shape and best features and ones you want to make disappear. Thank you for mentioning looking at yourself in the mirror from behind and I do from side view as well. I know this is about 4 years ago but basics are basics. :-) Thank you for what you are doing to help us dress well and classic that will be good. I did get about 4 black jackets/coats each for a different reason and I love them. I did the closet color organization, but also i have an area where I have say a place just for clothes put together that I can grab in a hurry and know these particular items will work and also with basics. Basics do make life so much easier for me. :-) Thank You for I can go back several years and still get reminders esp. when I am tempted to go for the more trendy item when I have a basic I need to fill in with. You give great questions to ask yourself when you are building a wardrobe and organizing them makes it easier and faster to get dressed and look and feel your best - thank you- thank you- thank you! :-)
I have had awesome success with the Merona blazers from Target. Super chic with jeans and a white tee, but also can dress up for work with pants or over a dress. Nice classic that goes both ways!
Dear Erin..this is such a valuable information for us......thank you for making these....the skin rule one was my favourite.... .you are making a difference in creating classier dressers out there.....keep them coming......big hug...Jana
Elle Is For Living You are the only other person that I know that uses the term giraffe the same way I do. I always try to explain that my sister has giraffe appendages. It makes shopping difficult sometimes so we tag team and "treasure hunt."
As usual, great video Erin!! Such essential basic info to have. So many of us wonder about these basics all the time and sadly, often times get it wrong. These tips will definitely help!! Also, yay for wearing YELLOW - you look great in it!!!!
I love this series and I am sharing it with my sister. After 20 years as a military wife and mother first my sister is rejoining the corporate world at a financial institution with a stringent dress code. She basically has to acquire a new wardrobe and needs a refresher on the "rules" and she needed to hear video one, mom guilt, so this series couldn't be more perfectly timed. Thank you!
Thank you so much for not just this video, but for your others as well! I am 31 years old and love your style. So your chanel can apply to under 40 as well.
I was so impressed with One by One jewelry. I bought the necklace you are wearing and a couple of rose gold pieces. I was stunned when I got a hand written card from Sunjay! I felt like such a VIP! Thanks for the recommendation!
Thanks Erin - & oh goodness yes, always Check the backside. I loved your tip in another video to take a photo if you are unsure about an outfit. It is interesting how you can spot things in a still frame that you don't notice by looking in a mirror.
Great Tips. Thank you so much for this series. Erin, you are so sweet. I think i do the most things already right. But i am very thankful for the tipp with the hemline.
I would looove just to see a look book ,, love your style please do one on how to dress using jeans as a base either skinny or any other kind (work appropriate preferably) thanks!!
Great tips! I would love it if you could do more of your fitting room try on videos. I'm still rocking those great navy blue button front flares from Loft with that gorgeous navy floral tie neck blouse that you modeled.
Great video Erin! You mentioned that over the years you learned what to look for when shopping at TJ Maxx, can you share those tips? I like shopping at TJ Maxx but many times I feel overwhelmed. Thanks.
Your Loveliness, your common sense is astounding! All those tips are ones that will see you through! I do not have to worry about the business or professional aspect but looking decent and ladylike should be important to us all! Gammy approves~XOXOXOXO
Hi Erin, the BEST underwear I ever found are form Naomi and Nicole I bought them at Macy's. They have many little line of rubber around the cheeks so no line!!! Love them
Thanks for sharing Erin, I am so excited that Express is now carrying petites! Best day ever for me since that is one of my favorite stores. Will definitely be adding a blazer from them soon
Wow! I am about 5 years older than you and I JUST FOUND MY NEW FAVE CHANNEL! We share many of the same rules (😘) and I am in need of a reboot!! Thank you!
Great tips as per usual. You've made me notice how so many people wear pants that are too short. Pretty much everyone (except me, haha) in my office is an offender. I can't unsee this!
Erin, if you are still looking for seamless panties, I found some at Dillard's. They are Calvin Kleins and come in basics like black, white, and buff. I've been wearing them under my skirts and work suits...even gym leggings. They're great and stay in place.
Hi Erin! Looking for cami. Went through some of your older posts. Saw you recommended Zara, but they only have one black lace cami. Can you make another suggestion please. I need all three colors. I have some from topshop but they have thicker straps and are not long enough. So excited and thankful I found your site. You are exactly what I need for fashion advice. I don't even bother with any others. Keep up the good work!
Hi Erin could you show us how you layer pearl necklaces. I love the look but not sure how much is to much also a few pieces it looks good with. Thanks :)
I enjoy your videos, which you deliver so personably and professionally. I highly recommend you check out Soma's vanishing edge hipster and boyshort styles. Any chance you could provide a link for the multi-strand pearl necklace shown in one of the pictures you featured in the accessory segment of this video? Thank you.
Thanks so much, Barbara! that gorgeous necklace sold out... I found this shorter one: rstyle.me/n/cd8fsw58an... You can always layer a couple of necklaces too to create a full layered look. I keep an eye out for a great piece, Barbara. Erin xo
Thank you for some excellent information. May I ask...... When I was younger, I was told that I/we should not cut our silhouette off at the half way point. It was never clear to me if that point was the half way mark of the top of the head to the tip of the toe.... Or is it the clothing half way mark of the shoulders down to the shoes? Please share your thoughts on this. Thank you.
This refers to the top of your shoulders down to the bottom of your feet! So you want to instead work towards the "rule of thirds"... 1/3 is part of the outfit, and then 2/3 for the rest. More tips for you here (Tip #4 specifically for your question) | ua-cam.com/video/pM6m-bY-KbY/v-deo.html
Your video brought up one of my eye twitches lol. Bra straps showing while wearing a sleeveless top. When I wear sleeveless, I go to great lengths to wear a t-back back bra and preferably a bra in the same color as the top, so if the straps do show, it's not as noticeable. Am I just being old fashioned? I'm 52. I love all your advice.
That's great, Gaye! Yes, I have ALL the gizmos and fixits in my styling kit, but I'll be the first to tell you there is almost always something not perfect about my looks. For example, I may have the greatest outfit, but day 3 hair with tons of dry shampoo. OR my nail polish is a mess and hands are dry. I do my best to keep it all together, but it's never perfect. Sorry I triggered your twitch!! Erin xo
gaye stallings Well, she's got a nude bra on and bra straps are always showing on women in clothes !!! I love an opposing color to add a lil pop of color.... looks cool (NOt IN AN OFFICE or PROFESSIONAL Setting) but she's home !!! Looks cute!!!!
Hi, Erin! Seems like you are soaking up that TX weather! If I were moving to CO, I probably would be wearing a sleeveless top too! I'm making a note to self that I need a 3-way mirror to check my rear....good tip! Also, I'm wondering if you might do an interview appropriate episode--I'm up for a promotion soon and it seems like anything goes these days, but I like to keep it classy. Are there any new rules I should consider?
What are your thoughts on pantyhose and which color to wear. As for us cold weather girls what are your thoughts on tights with skirts or dresses. Thanks Erin I'm loving this searies:)
?, I'm petite 4'11" and anywhere between 105 and110lbs. With prints I always stay away from large prints, should I?? Always think I'm small/short so my prints should be small also
Do. you clean your bog beautyful House by yourself ? I I also have a big qzestion 😶: i warnt to by a new Basic Garderobe , because i did Not like my stuff anymore and everything is old and washed out ! How should i Start ? Should i do. it by myself . Thank you and the very best wishes from Germany 💌
I used to have it cleaned once a month before we got our dog, Travy. And, now because Travy sheds so much, I pay to have the house cleaned 2 times a month. I just started that because I was swimming in dog hair. I tidy up and wipe down between. The kids are now helping too!!
Love this series! I just looked at Hanky Panky panties yesterday on Nordstrom and they now have other options that are not thongs. Briefs and v-kinis. Good reviews too!
Wonderful tips! I do have a dilemma. I am forced to wear sneakers due to Morton's Neuroma and sneakers are the only thing I can wear. I am 56 and have no idea how to "class" them up a notch! It really has me in a style rut. No need for office attire because we are self employed and live in a smallish town in northeast Texas. Most of whom dress very casual. I like a step up from that. Other than sweats or athletic wear how can I look more put together without feeling frumpy? Any advise would be welcomed. Thank you! : )
Hi Patty, Check out Michael Kors sneakers. I fractured my foot and I’m still in recovery mode. I work in an office and I wear Michael Kors Sneakers to work with my black, blue, tan and gray pants! I try to keep it simple. Wear basic colors and go bold with your purse! I’ve tailored all my pants to look like what Erin mentioned about dress pant length. I’m not sure how well Michael Kors sneakers will work with your feet and the condition you have. I hope you can have happy feet and look fabulous too! PS I’m 49! It’s the age foot issues! Hugs!
Check out this blog post I did last week: busbeestyle.com/2017/01/26/4-ways-to-wear-the-athleisure-trend-with-neiman-marcus/ I feature 3 outfit ideas... ALL with sneakers. I think the key will be chic sneakers! I'll definitely add this to my video list. Thank you for sharing!! Erin xo
Hi Patty. I love sneakers with pants and wear longish cardigan/vests to dress them up but on another note....have the neuroma excised. That's what I did for mine 10 years ago ,best thing i ever did. BTW I'm a physical therapist...there isn't much else that works to resolve this problem ,IMO. Good Luck:)
Again thank you so much for this series. It's helping a lot! FYI...Target has very affordable undies with no seam. I use to wear thong but have transitioned to these for comfort. I believe the brand is Exhortations..
Hi Erin, love the videos. I'm in my 50's and trying to keep my wardrobe relevant. I'm in the health care profession, and I don't wear a uniform. The issue I have is shoes.....I'm very busy walking / running around the hospital. I need the most comfortable shoes money can buy. Any suggestions? Thank you
love your videos as always. Great advice especially the hem of pants which I have a lot of problems with because I am only 5 ft. (so grateful for Nordstrom alteration notes ) I also struggle with color so I usually play it safe with a colorful sweater and then all neutral like grey or black. But what about shoes? I will see so many gorgeous heels and think but how would I wear them ?
HI, I just found you and love your channel. I am more your mothers age but think your choices on clothing and make up(haven't seen all the videos yet)are timeless. Will watch all of your videos and keep me happy, lol. Susan in S.C.

Great tips as per usual. You've made me notice how so many people wear pants that are too short. Pretty much everyone (except me, haha) in my office is an offender. I can't unsee this!
I need to check my trouser lengths! I am sure they are a bit too short! I'll have to adjust my shoes. Thanks so much!!
Agree 100% on the one skin rule. Great video.

YES! I would say the one skin rule is the one most women need to start using these days!
Hi Erin could you show us how you layer pearl necklaces. I love the look but not sure how much is to much also a few pieces it looks good with. Thanks :)
Brilliant ! Thank you ,,, keep it up these tips are so helpful. X
Erin xo
Thanks so much for your advice. Blessings
Loving this series. Thank u
I found this SO helpful!!
LOVE this series! Can't wait till you get to the "age appropriate" styles vid. (hopefully there is one!) ^_^
Thank you for some excellent information. May I ask...... When I was younger, I was told that I/we should not cut our silhouette off at the half way point. Love series Erin thank you!
I swore I'd watched this series, but I found it in my "Watch Later" videos. I'm all over it now though, and I'm already learning a LOT! ❤️
Target seamless laser cut underwear are the best.
Alwaz have your favorite levis. Cowboy boots

What kind of necklace would work with a turtleneck?
love this series!!!
Excellent!

What if your dress pants don’t have as wide a bottom as yours? Mine cover my shoe to the top of my kitten heel in the back.
That sounds like they're a great length for your shoes, Nicole! xo
Erin, do you remember where you got that gorgeous multi strand pearl necklace?..
I would like to know too!
Yes... I bought it at Neiman Marcus Last Call (one of my favorites) but it's sold out. Here's a link to a GORGEOUS choker!! rstyle.me/n/cd8fzi58an
