In this episode I share our journey with my friend Javi leaving from Marina di Ragusa on the south coast of Sicily to the Ionian Island of Kefalonia in Greece. A three day passage.
It turned out to be a beautiful sail with mostly following winds and then the unexpected beauty of the pine covered and peaceful islands of the Northern Ionian.
I started this Channel , SAILING ADVENTURES WITH GRANDAD ,to share with you my travels on Vayu my 44 ft sloop. Sometimes on my own and other times with a friend or family. The people I meet and travel with, the places we go, the times we have and my reflections on life.
I am Michael, a 73 year old grandad of this operation , a lifetime sailor, practicing yogi, father of 4, grandad of 5, amateur chef, and contented man. I live between Palma de Mallorca, Vayu my sailboat wherever she is, and also often in the country of my heart which is Mexico.
My beautiful and seaworthy sailboat Vayu, a 44 ft X-Yacht (X-442), was born in Denmark in 2002. She requires care and attention but is absolutely reliable.
This journey is a celebration of life and dedicated to taking one day at a time, living spontaneously and gratefully as long as one can. I appreciate my good fortune and create these videos to share this fortunate life journey with friends, family and all who care to join us.
This channel was launched at the beginning of the Ukrainian invasion and I make monthly contributions to Save the Children-Ukraine, in the hope that millions of us contributing can help ease the suffering of the many displaced Ukrainian families.
