That concludes my third and final test video with the Samsung s24 ultra. It seems like with each experimental video I learn something new with these mobile cameras. My final takeaway is to use pro mode over expert raw in these more creative situations. Thanks for watching!
@deadzio there is a good lock module that enable fast shutter * note that it give options for 1.Quick Tap Shutter 2. Prioritize focus over speed . Or you can just do a burst shutter by swiping down on shutter button
I realized that while phones can give more than sufficient images, there is a feeling that holding a camera gives. I found that using a camera and looking at the frame for longer imprints the image longer in my mind. Especially with film cameras, every shot I take, I can recall in my mind very well. Maybe its placebo, but I think using a camera that makes photography enjoyable leads to better shots.
Nah I know exactly what you mean! Last year I did make a picture with my iPhone that ended up in my book and I clearly remember it also tho. So there may just be a bias towards getting the “shot” and remembering it well. Which tends to happen more frequently with a tool ( camera) that’s more consistent
Correct me if I'm wrong but you definitely can use the uw camera but only in 12mp mode in Expert Raw. As for the capturing the moment instantly, yeah Expert Raw isn't good for that but I believe pro mode is perfect for that, problem is you don't get the expert raw bonuses but thats true to "dslr" level raw files no? I do know the pro mode doesn't have that added sharpness of Expert Raw though.
That’s a valid point that I didn’t really think about. But also what’s the point in promoting something as the “best way” when it only works the best at a lower resolution. Also I think it’s more software based. I showed that screen recording where initially the image was correct but after processing changed. Not sure the cause I’m sure there’s an explanation if I did a deep dive
@@RanftEvanbut the UW camera is only 12MP, so there is no way it could take a 50MP photo unless we are talking about some sort of super resolution/upscaling.
I haven't start watching the video, but watching last copule of your videos (back to back), I was thinking to post comment and ask if you could use this for your Street Photos. :) Thank you. I have been using smartphones for my street photography and videos for a long long time and I always enjoy seeing an experts take on this.
I almost always shoot on Pro mode. Sorry, but Apple Pro Raw and Expert Pro Raw are worthless. I cannot stand the processed look to smartphone photos. For quick snaps of family or events, the main cam jpeg is great.
Do you know any settings to make the photos as natural as possible, especially the red colors on Samsung photos are really bad, the tone is so much changed.
I have the ultra wide in my expert raw? You have to be in 12MP though Also, there's a setting to take photo when you tap... I'm not sure why it's not the default, nor if it would solve your lag issue...
Of course, of course... Maybe if you did a little research before you'd probably know that you can just use the Camera App's Pro mode and use camera assistant on top of it, that's way better, expert raw is not the thing you wanna use when you're in a hurry...
Samsung really needs an update that allows you to go back to the original photo. I've had too many pictures that I was happy with initially, only to watch them be destroyed a second later by the post processing. And there's nothing you can do about it. It's so disheartening. It makes you not want to take pictures just so you don't have to watch the senseless destruction of your photo's.
@@willbuschmann No. The camera automatically edits (post processes) your photo a second or so after you take it. You see initially that you took a good photo, and then a second later the camera automatically destroys it with sometimes some really unnatural terrible post processing, and there's no way to get the original good one back. Samsung needs to fix that so if you don't like what it did you can return it to normal and post process it yourself if you choose to do so. In many cases the original looked fine.
Hrmm. I've seen Japanese photographers on Twitter use OPPO Find X7 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra for their street photography and Cafe photography. It's on a whole new level. After some years away from Samsung for being annoyed with phone lagging, fingerprint scanner never working, camera with a very delayed shutter lag and aggressive processing over the image, I'm back with the S23+ and just because Samsung now allows you to completely switch off auto HDR and also force the camera switch regardless of the situation. The phone is much faster, it lags much less than before and the cameras are very good but I still don't like the color rendition of my photos, since they always look off, with some magenta or green tint to them. Shutter lag is still a problem, especially if you move fast to a new scene and the phone still didn't have time to adjust the settings. I was very annoyed with my previous iPhone 13pm because suddenly Apple entered this trend of changing completely the photo after being taken, and everytime I opened the photo after taking it, 1 second later the photo magically changed to a completely different thing than I planned! Well, I guess you can't have it perfect.
The new S23 ultra has disappointed me alot The reason why I liked the S23 ultra was because it had a ten times optical zoom, that way you can shoot things that your iPhone buddies can't Now that they degraded the super tele lens from a 10x to a 5x you cant get those unique shots And the expert raw is just a market gimmick, regular raw mode is FAR BETTER that that I think they introduced the 5x tele lens because they wanted to compete against apple But why replace the 10x with it? What about the 3x? I mean if your shooting on 3x digital the difference is barely noticeable when you compare ut with the 3x optical
@anveshn8609 Marques and many other tech youtube has deeply tested both of them, and the 10x optical has more detail than the 5x optical This is noticeable when you zoom in 100x In the 10x lens the image quality is decent and sharp However, In the 5x optical zoom the image looks mushy, soft, unsharp and ai

Nobody buys a phone expecting it to replace a real camera, if you have the space in you backpack, bring the camera, if not, these kind of cellphones offer good enough results to keep memories of places that you don't hate
I was looking to make an investment on a camera and unfortunately I fell for the s24 ultra promotional videos. Never in my life had I spent 1,500 on a phone that, to be honest, feels like a scam. The picture quality is amazing if you know nothing about photography or if youre not looking to print but if youre looking to something remotely resembling fine art photography (and I mean remotely cause no smartphone can beat a real camera) then this is not it. Don't be fooled by #samsung . $1,500 for whatsapp, a useless pencil and a mediocre camera are not worth it.
Horrible software for a good Camera. Doesn't ZOOM in and out at 100x in VIDEO MODE unless going to Camera mode and zooming at 100x and holding down the button. That is really stupid.
That just so AI and unreal over sharpened photos yukss I would never choose this phone for a overpriced copied phone Samsung u need to work hard S24 ultra 💩
@RanftEvan getting some good photos is always possible, with any camera if you know how to do it. The problem is that this phone has serious issues in low light and shadows with regards to the noise and in highlights. Recovering an image is hard, and you have to tune the setting for each situation... raw files are bad, very low information.
