This isn’t how we planned on debuting our new set up but we both knew we wanted this tribute out for you guys as soon as we could, this Drum Solo was just brilliant, shows off exactly why he has and will maintain ‘Legend’ status. Comment below the first time you feel you really acknowledged just how great of a drummer he is! We will see you guys tomorrow with our ‘debut’ of our new set up! Much love to you all, friends. 🔥🤟🏻

Hi guys! I’m 56 and I’ve seen them a few times in my hometown Montréal, they had always put on a fantastic show, and I’m sure we all fans gonna miss the « Professor" and his band brothers. They were the best, even though they would have not say so, cuz they were and still are respectfull for all the music industry. So much respect and love for those guys. RIP Neil!

All I can say is that I was already drumming in high school in the 7Os when I first heard Neil. It moved the bar so far up it really challenged me. Rush became my top shelf band and saw every tour from 78 to the last one when it ended. Forty years of exellence. Neil was the greatest influence in my drumming career. Bar none. He was one of a kind. Great drummer, percussionist and lyricist and just good human being. I felt a large piece of me die with him. I never knew him personally but his shadow was a long one. A big part of my life ended with his. Tragic beyond words. But thank God his work is eternal and we can't let him and the band fade into the past. I'm so glad you young men are keeping this music alive because it would be so sad for new generations to never be enriched by it. Thanks for the show honoring this amazing musician!

I lost my sister 3 days ago to cancer. She was the one who introduced me to Rush. I sat up that night saddened by the loss and listening to Rush, in particular Afterimage. Peart's lyrics, remembering a lost friend matched so much of what I was feeling. The next day I learned of his passing. I have watched one or two other tributes, and I will say the same. The only two celebrity musician deaths to bring me to tears so far have been Chris Squire of YES (2015 - also 67 years old), and now Neil Peart. Both of their contributions have been huge for me and major soundtracks of my life. I experienced my first YES and RUSH shows within weeks of each other back in 1984.
As for Neil, I am a bit surprised how hard it has hit me, but then I realize all those amazing lyrics and how they inspired me over the years to be a better person. I have also been reminiscing on all the bonding with friends and family I have done going on nearly four decades over his music and lyrics. To top it all off, Neil (and Alex and Geddy as well) was just a great person and family man. I personally call him The Quiet, Shy Introvert Who Brought Thunder Down From The Heavens. He was so eloquent and intelligent, and humble. So, more than a loss for music (he had retired anyway), it's a great loss for the rest of us as people, and especially his wife and 10-year old daughter, which must be just awful for her. So very sad about that. (Incidentally, Chris Squire had a 5-year daughter at the time he left us - so heartbreaking). At the same time, depending on how you believe, Neil is also reunited with his first wife and daughter who both tragically passed in the late 90s. No matter how you shake it, there are many reason to hold Neil in tender regard. Bless him and his legacy.

Thank you Andy & Alex, beyond beautiful and cool tribute. "La Villa Strangiato" is playing on Hair Nation as we speak, more brilliance. I would like to share a section of the lyrics from one of my favorite songs by Rush, "Ghost of a Chance".
    I don't believe in destiny
Or the guiding hand of fate
    I don't believe in forever
Or love as a mystical state
I don't believe in the stars or the planets
    Or angels watching above
    But I believe there's a ghost of a chance
We can find someone to love
    And make it last
    And make it last
Neil wrote so many of the lyrics for Rush. Lyrics we can pass down to you guys, to look to when things are tough or for comfort. I know Neil would be so proud of you guys and all you're doing. He's smiling down on you right now as your respect for the art is so beautiful.
Keep rockin in Heaven Neil Sweet One. 🌹🌹🌹

Holy Moly we lost a legend!!!! I feel so bad now because I didn't get into Rush until I discovered your channel! I never knew Neil Peart could do that on the drums!!! I got chills from the xylophone parts because it was so unique. I love those drummers that are unique and bring something different to the band. I loved how Neil did many different things, from the kick drum, to the xylophone, to the snare drum, to the crossovers, to the toms, he kept it different every single time! He kept it flavorful and not boring! I will definitely be checking out more Rush videos in the future because man, this guy was awesome! He sounded really nice and selfless too because of the story of how he wouldn't want his fans to see a bad show. Due to Neil's declining health, Rush called it quits, so that fans wouldn't have to see him suffer and not be at his best. I did not know that! I admire Neil Peart even more now!!!! Rest in peace Neil Peart, this world will not be the same without you, for sure!

Not only an amazing musician that set the benchmark for drumming but, from what I have experienced for the last 46 years an amazing human. He along with his bandmates also showed the world that you can be true to yourself. The one thing I have like about Rush there never was tossing a TV out the windows, OD'ing in a hotel room or doing stupid shit that many, (but not )all musicians do. Thanks for the tribute.
Neil was my first musical hero, starting from my first memories of being serious about listening to music at the age of 10. I'm about to turn 50. Now, Geddy is more my musical spirit animal but Neil has always been among my greatest musical inspirations. On Friday, I was at Guitar Center, having just finished my bass guitar lesson and I was talking to the staff about Rickenbacker-era Geddy vs Jazz Bass-era Geddy when we all started getting texts about the news. We all just kind of sat there in stunned silence. There was more than one "holy shit" exclaimed under breath. Then I said, "Welp... I gotta go out to my car and cry a little." And I did. This was the biggest celebrity gut punch death for me in my lifetime. My Elvis or Lennon.
My biggest sadness was not for me, but for Neil - he went through such unspeakable tragedy and still came back and made amazing music for us, despite his extreme discomfort with living in the public eye. Then he finally retired and not even 2 years after his retirement was he told he had brain cancer. He largely gave up his life for 40 years, and now that he was finally able to enjoy it, he's gone in just a few years. That's why it made me cry. I had already come to grips with the fact that I was never going to see another Rush show or hear another new Rush album. Rest in peace, sir. Thank you for all the music.
I like your new set. Looks great!

I came to hear of them in 1989 when A Show of Hands was released. I was a young drummer in high school and his song writing and drumming were everything to me. The first show I saw was the Presto tour in 1990 and didn’t miss a single tour, seeing their final one in 2015 in Virginia. When I heard of his passing on Friday, it was a gut punch. Unexpected and hit me hard...I never thought of myself as getting emotional when a musician died, but this one cuts pretty deep. I’ve been listening to Rush all weekend and watching tributes on UA-cam.
Thank you guys for reacting to his solo. Because I was first introduced to them from ASOH, that solo will always be my favorite, but this one is equally spectacular. RIP Professor, you were one of a kind.

Drums were always my favorite part of music ... and his were PERFECTION. Since my first time hearing The Fountain of Lamneth (in 1977) to their final tour, they played the music that choreographed my life. Nothing will ever compare .....

    You honored Neil beautifully! ❤️
Knowing a few people who knew Neil personally and who were in the know about his terminal brain cancer (and repping one of his biggest fans - drummer Shaun Foist of Breaking Benjamin), even with knowing, there was no way for anyone to prepare for the creative and emotional loss, and the void his passing would leave. If you venture on to IG, check out Shaun’s tribute post to Neil - so beautiful and heartfelt. (shaunwfoist).
Neil will NEVER be forgotten.... and will live on through his legacy of art - and through all those drummers he inspired. 💔

Andy and Alex, I think all of us who are a bit older here and watching your stuff are so proud to witness your friendship and enthusiasm. Makes us feel young again. So it brought me back when i discovered Rush when I was 12 or 13. I must have listened to Hemispheres (my personnal favourite) a zillion times. How is it possible to listen to an album for 40 god damn years and not get bored? Musical genious and artistic integrity are part of the answer. Keep posting new videos. RIP mister Peart. You meant a lot to me. Your music, your writting and all. Peace. Luc from Montréal.

Whatever you believe or don't believe, the journey DOES NOT end at death in this life. Whatever it is, there isn't a pit of darkness of nothing unless you make that for yourself on this Earth. The only thing that Neil Peart did, among others, is give music more character, will and power. He will be remembered to the end of the world. I'm just glad that he can now be with his daughter and his wife, who were also tragically taken from him at young ages as well. 🙏

It's taken me awhile to listen to this tribute to a phenomenal one of a kind. I was a young teenager when I was first introduced you his talant, i was just learning to play percussion and my jaw hit the floor, I'm now 56 yrs old and my jaw still dropped after all this time! I was privileged to see him in concert 5 times and I treasure those experiences with all my heart! Thank you Neil for your gift you gave to the world and you an awkward young teen.

Of all the great things you could say about Rush, the thing that sticks out in my mind the most is that their music helped a lot of people feel understood, namely, people who didn't fit in, like dreamers, young aspiring artists and musicians, "geeks", lone wolves, etc., and in my mine that's quite an accomplishment. Been a life-long Rush fan, and always will be. Thanks for the vid.

Neil Peart was only 1 year older than me. I started playing drums at 53. Neil & Steve Gadd are my two drum heroes. Subdivisions is my ring tone and my favorite song ever. As much as I love John Bonham & Keith Moon, who were Neil’s heroes (among others), Neil is the greatest rock & roll drummer ever. That alone would be enough, but his lyrics, man. His lyrics. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. Blame is better to give than to receive. He knows change isn’t permanent, but change is. The man was a poet. Even more importantly than his incredible artistic talent, he was just a great human being. He suffered great tragedy. Bad things happen to good people. Not fair, but part of life. It’s about how you deal with the adversity. He preserved and continued to give. This loss feels personal to a lot of us. Thank you Neal Peart. RIP. You deserve it.

I know you guys don’t usually do Live music but maybe this passing of ‘The Professor’ calls for a full album reaction to the phenomenal Live RUSH All The World’s A Stage from 1976. Rush is my all-time favorite band!!! Neil is my all time favorite drummer and in my opinion the best in the world no doubt about it. I am 58 years old and been a fan sense 1975. I've seen Rush in several concerts live especially early years it was fantastic I feel blessed. I even turn my grandson on to rush and he understands exactly what I'm talking about when it comes to their music. And he's learning the guitar. Rest in peace Neil , you are the best.

Thanks Andy & Alex! Thanks for the tribute. I've been a mess all weekend. Never has a passing of a person that I didn't 'personally' know affected me so much. Rush has been a part of my life for the better part of 30 years. First learning of them in Grade 8 ('91), then finally seeing them live in '97 (Test For Echo tour) here in their hometown of Toronto (I life about an hour outside of TO). My wife Jenn (girlfriend at the time) is a musician, but hadn't had much exposure to classic rock, and definitely not Rush. This concert was life changing for both of us. Never had I see 3 guys play so tight, so perfect, so loud and with such joy. Of course it being a home crowd, outside venue, warm breeze off Lake Ontario and the constant sweet smelling clouds of Mary Jane wafting across the amphitheater helped immensely to the mood, but these guys were amazing. Then came Neil's drum solo - to say we were blown away is the biggest understatement.
Jenn, myself and my best friend of 36 years (whom was a HUGE influence on my music knowledge, as I was to him) have seen our holy trinity from Toronto no less than 8 times, and they always provided 110% to their fans.
RIP Neil. Thanks for providing the lyrics to, & together with Alex & Geddy, the music to my geeky youth! You will be loved & remembered the rest of my days!
