I get the vibe that the subsection of grip strength records are kind of an untouched gold mine seeing as most people choose to specialize in big movements like bench of deadlift that are seemingly more impressive. Not only that when you counter in the fact that these are records for weight classes rather than overall records and the fact that these climbing guys already have insane grip strength it's not the most surprising. Sorry about the yap session I just been watching a lot of these lately and it seems like a common occurance.
it would be a record for pete's weight class (if it was done in competition) but levan an ermes would have to lose a hell of a lot of weight to break this record.
@@phantom8699Believe it or not Strongman grips are amazing....but lb/lb arent that great. Magnus has beaten a lot of them in a lb/lb setting. He's an elite climber. He can probably hold his body weight on one finger... It's not testing normal hand grip strength. He's holding a very awkwardly shaped handle, this is much harder than it looks.

I'm always conflicted with weight classes in world records. like in sport yea definately important but when it's about who for example lifts the most. then you search for the person who can actually lift the most weight, not the one who can lift the most weight while also weighing below x kg
Everyones talking about climber grip strength yeah its alot better than average but the average weight lifter has more than there body weight in there hands. Alex honnalds was like 90lbs on gripmeter im 20 at 170lb grip
The thing that sets climbers apart is that grip strength in the direction of the fingers is good, but at odd angles nobody compares. So pretty much the grip testers are gonna favor especially strong weightlifters while test like these will favor climbers. Different skill sets
@@biggiecheez6879Not really to be honest. As a national level Powerlifter, ive been beaten lb/lb by climbers. I compete raw, so pure grip. Lol, you never broke a strongman grip strength world record. Why not? Because there are no strongman in your weight class. I'm sure there are people with your weight who have done some grip challenges, but to call it a world record is a bit much, don't you think?
Imagine Pete firmly shaking your hand ☠️
He did at a country wide talk a couple of years ago when selling signed books, posters etc for charity, I've just recovered with physiotherapy 😂 😉
climbers should never greet fellow climbers with firm shakes. Who knows how f*d up those fingers are.
@@chaosengine4597 Like touching toes.
I saw him at a climbing gym once and his hands are genuinely huge 😆
After that: wat hand? 😢
Pete’s got that “home alone with no one else to play with” grip strength!
r/angryupvote
I love when Pete casually breaks records and then is just like “yeah that was okay I guess”.

Brit breaks world record: "Good effort man"
Finally realised the music is from the Cyberpunk intro sequence
Dude wrings a cloth into steam
Well done dude!
good effort!
Wow, that's really impressive! 👏🎉 Looks like you surprised yourself there... 😁
This man could squeeze the juice out of a coconut with that grip
Will there be a follow up where dan hipkiss tries climbing?
He's already well into his climbing. There is potential to do something
@@WideBoyz awesome!
@@WideBoyzcount me in...
Yes, you're a world-class athlete breaking records all over the place! ❤
"good effort man" ... I think he meant to say : WOHOO WORLD RECORD GOOD JOB MAN!
The Brits are pleasant acquaintances of understatement.
Bro could lift me hanging from a pole
Wow congrats!
Congratulations !
"Firmly Grasp it"
Pete vs Magnus next time?? :)
Casually 😂
People in this comment section who say that this looks easy probably can't even hang 60s on a bar
Much impress
Sick!
Cant break world records in your home gym with questionable conditions thor .
No chalk or grip stuff allowed!
Anybody else thought he was ed sheeran for a sec
Did the world record use chalk?
No they greased it up with motor oil beforehand
Enter Vitaly Laletin
Come on, go for 80.
probably not possible for him that day
If he trains specifically for these for a year he can get all 3
But did your dad weigh the weights
Wow 😮
Not sure is top arm wrestlers can break than record....
But i really believe guys like ermes and levan would....

@@goodall18no shit they don’t mean in this weight class lmaoo, I doubt they’d win heavyweight though since then they have to compete with strongmen

What does it take to be a peofesional climber
Well, if you’re under 78 kg you are able to hold all your body weight with one hand that’s good to know

They all look kinda light to me. Maybe I should try
Is this a 60kg weight class or below? Those numbers are low
i wish there would be weight classes in climbing too :(
Maybe a height class instead?
yooo🤣
I bet u can do 80kg

its insane because most or all of these records are set by people who has twice or even more weight then him
I know it's not, but it feels like cheating using chalk for a grip strength test

When you have to break down world records into weight classes. You know you dont have a world record.
True, are you saying we also should not break world records up on male and female categories, too then? That would be the next step in your logic
It's not a world record unless Guinness is there

As in he climbs for a living. Do you need a definition of professional?
Guess by your logic Adam Ondra isnt a professional climber, just an amateur lol.
