    One of the most tactically instructive games I’ve ever seen starting with a “simple” g6 pawn push. I’m always amazed how far into the position these chess legends can see, we are stopping for minutes at a time at every tactical checkpoint after having been given the answer to the last one, in real time tho you have to see all of these moves from the beginning.

    I really like watching your videos, bcuz despite me being "bad" (ok for a beginner) at chess I look at these games and find the moves that have been played by the winning side. it's like awesome to be validated like this, cuz I ABSOLUTELY don't play at this level but I understand why those moves were made in the first place.
    also, these videos are really cool bcuz you show historic games and make a very nice commentary.

      this game was in 1999 though so computer theory wasn’t that advanced yet, these moves became theory by human decision, but i know what you mean

      @@dmgisi Totally. I think what you have realized that not many do is just how strong Topalov is and how ridiculous Ivanchuk made him look in this game despite that strength.

    Why not Bf6 instead of Pe5 after black king returns to g8? If pawn takes, knight fork takes queen, rook, or bishop.

    • @noplays2480
      @noplays2480 3 місяці тому

      Brother, pawn e5 is just e5 also that is a very dumb move, its just hope chess. If your his opponent didn't take the useless bishop that blocked his own pieces from the attack, he would stand much better than before, stop playing on hope.

  • @Apex_1412

      yes, but Nb6 is a more forcing line, although engine likes Bxh6 (also a brilliant move) more because after Nb6, Qf5 black trades the queens and prolongs the game
