The Stamp Atlas book is a great concept! Looks fascinating! It is in dire need of an updated edition because the world has changed a lot since the 80's. Topical Adventures looks like a fine reference book as well. As far as basics go, about a month ago I bought The World Encyclopedia of Stamps & Stamp Collecting by Dr. James Mackay. I don't know if it's still the case but It was on sale on Amazon at the time and not expensive at all. It's a pretty thick (but small in size) book that covers a bit of everything. The drawback is also that it tries to cover everything, but will certainly disappoint people who want to know more about a specific subject.
Found your feed after reading Sep-Oct 2022 issue of Topical Times. Great info on reference books. Thanks for the tips. I immediately went in search of the Fundamentals of Philately and found a great deal. $18 for a new shrink wrapped hard bound copy from an eBay vendor. The County Stamp Center based in Annapolis, MD
I really like the Davo albums. Those hold my Poland collection which is my main country collection. I still have to get the albums for 1990 to the present one of these days.
Polish stamps issued before ww2 are fun. Post ww2 too much Russian influence. Lots of nice topicals though. My grandparents were born in Russian Poland. I changed my name years ago. I am 100% Polska. I had an almost complete collection, minus a couple of the rarest, overprinted Austrian issues. One of my goodies was a mint og #1. It was sound. I found it in a 3c each box, at a dealers table at show, back in 1962 when I was 13. Take care & enjoy collecting.
Looking at the map of the French and German Mailboat routes, you wonder how it was financially sustainable! How much would posting a letter from GB to Samoa have cost back then? That's quite a way!
Is there a book or magazine on how to compile your own stamp album pages etc. I do my own with ALBUM EASY. I also have a paperback called ''STAMP COLLECTING'' by Stanley Phillips 1968 2nd edition. 302pgs .
I don't know of a book on how to compile your own album pages. I have in the past seen some other UA-cam stamp channels discussing that though. Other people have used various desktop publishing tools but those can be expensive and some take some getting comfortable with the complexity.

Good video. I noticed that you have several Davo albums. They are both attractive and affordable.
