Thank you for sharing your knowledge and stamps. I found this very helpful and provided some ideas for my future topical/thematic collections. I had, without realizing it, started a thematic collection with my UK album. I put together several pages of definitive stamps, both Wilding and Machin in value order rather than chronological order, mainly to enjoy the impact of all the colors used over the years. I also placed my extra UK Christmas stamps together. While working on my US album I was struck by the seemingly infinite variety of stars and stripes flag stamps, plus red, white and blue themes - that will form a natural extension to my US collection. Happy collecting!

I really enjoyed this video and learned a lot. Topical/thematic collecting explained very well. Thanks, Bob! I just started collecting stamps and thematic/topical collecting appeals to me. Bird stamps always catch my eye. First I didn't want to specifically choose birds as a topic to collect, because so many collect bird stamps. However, I really have to - because I cannot take my eyes of birds and in real life just love them!

I have my few (very!) stamps in vario stock sheets inside heavy duty 2 and 3 inch binders. I am trying out Showgard mounts on copy paper. I like the quadrilled paper you mentioned. Would be easier to line up the Showgard mounts. I do plan to try different weights of paper. Or I may go back to the stock sheets. Lol. It is as you say, my collection!

I am one of those. I collect mainly Pitcairn Islands and French Polynesia stamps because of my infatuation for all things related to the Mutiny on the Bounty story.

You still have to collect what is attractive. Don't buy it just because it fits that topic.

Everybody collects what they want. Some are completists and their object is collect all of them. Whatever gives _you_ pleasure.
