I thought Bolt's 9.58 would be first, but when I saw Zelezny I thought "well deserved". Zelezny was a beast. I feel he's a bit underrated, and not as well known as other track and field legends. His 92.80 throw was in 2001, and no one threw longer than that in 16 years. In one competition Zelezny threw over 90 meters in 5 of his 6 throws. And in Sheffield 1993 he threw over 95 meters two times in the same competition. In the 1995 World Championships, he QUALIFIED with at throw of 90.12m, and in the 2001 World Championships, he qualified with a 90.76m throw (that is longer than the season best of most years, including 2019) This is Michael Jordan/Wayne Gretzky/Michael Phelps -levels of dominance. Very surprised that Mike Powell's long jump WR record in 1991 isn't on the list. Not only has anyone not come close, no one has jumped over 29 feet in the past 20 years.
No one has jumped over 29 feet since that day in 1991.There has been 3 or 4 jumps at 29 feet or longer but they were either at altitude and/or wind aided but absolutely nothing after 1995.
Main reason why is that they dont see the point in going for it, not that they cant. Matter of fact the only reason HE tried that hard is because carl lewis had about 4 attempts to break beamons record and failed on illegal wind assist only, if powell didnt go for it he would've got silver simple as that
I can't help but wonder if the glamour associated with the 100m makes a big difference in why the long jump record isn't being challenged in recent decades. I'm surprised that the the mile record of 3.43.13 ran on 7/7/1999 by Hicham El Guerrouj was not on this list. This race is the greatest race of all time. Noah Ngeny also in this race ran the second fastest race of all time. Both times after almost 21 years still stand as one and two.
Marita Koch 400m 47:60 from 1985. Only 1 other athlete has ever gone below 48 seconds, Kratochvilova was the previous record holder at 47:99. Other than that nobody else has managed to get within even half a second of Kochs record. I can't really see anybody breaking any time soon.
Well, Kenenisa Bekele lost his World record and I must say that even though the 10'000m one got broken too, it seemed stronger than the 5'000m one. But the 3'000m World Record of Daniel Komen is definitely stronger and even worse is the women's 3'000m that for a long time had a higher average speed than the 2'000m outdoor World record.
It's not really an unbreakable record if the person who broke the record just did it and is on form. Unless you think it's impossible for Warholm to break the record again, then it's a very breakable record. This isn't a list of most impressive records, it's a list of most unbreakable because the records have stood for so long and don't seem likely to be challenged soon.
I've been following track for years, and there was a clear trend in the 80s - 90s of muscle-bound runners (men and women) on basic forms of juice. Though cheating is still happening, notice how sprinters and even 800 runners are not as massive as they used to be (DeGrase, Coleman, etc.). Technique seems to have replace 'power.'
I would say the most unbreakable record is Carl lewis indoor long jump record 28 feet 10 inches, it's stood since 1984, it's rare to see any long jumper go over 28 feet at all these even outdoor season
3000 meters bro. Komen is well over 2 seconds (!) ahead of the second place, Hicham El Guerrouj, and I doubt we will see an athleat like him any time soon.
@@johnb1918 Nah, it's going to last a bit shorter than that. There's a bunch of talent in the 3000 coming up in Ethiopia and Kenya. Maybe someone like Worku or Wale could beat it.
It's not a real WR though tbh. The wind gauge at the LJ pit going in the same direction read +5.0 m/s and the 100m wind gauge read 0.0 m/s while everyone felt huge winds. 10.49 is very wind aided, the real WR is Flo-Jo's 10.61. A much more realistic time as Marion Jones, Jeter and maybe one other person have gone into the 10.6s and there are 10.7 runners recently like Shelly-Ann & Elaine Thompson.
Marita Koch’s world record run in the 400m is almost other worldly. 47.6!!! If it had been run indoors the other women would have been genuinely worried about being lapped and it was a quality field.
For the field part- the more often neglected side, the eternal records are Zelezney's javelin WR, Jonathan Edwards' Triple jump and Mike Powell's long jump WR. For the women it's atalya Lisovskaya's shot put WR, Gabriele Reinsch's discus WR and Anita Vlodarzyk's hammer throw WR.
No distance running is ever off the table. While the 400 is daunting, someone will dip 42. But Usain is truly the most untouchable. The incentives for track and hype for short sprints can never financially be that high ever again to push such a perfectly dimensioned super athlete to run and compete in athletics specifically in the 100 meters. Even Bolt’s 200m time wil fall as that was a product of his 100 meter close. But 100m is about body mechanics more than anything except maybe Edwards’ triple jump record. We even saw a legendary multi year dual between Claye and Taylor and they still couldn’t push each other over the record. But Bolt’s 100m requires a certain human who is also an impossibly driven competitor who I just don’t foresee being pushed into track with how early these mega athletes are being identified. This change in how sports and athletics have evolved with Olympic development imo siloed off any athletes like bolt to appear on track for country. This a product of the time. He’ll be a 6’4 receiver in the NFL or a footballer in Europe with how media works.
EL MEXICANO His time in the 100m and 200m has held up for the past decade. Not only this, but his times probably could have been faster if he didn’t mess around. He probably had practice runs faster than that.
@@umaxi96 the evidence of chasing records or that the 800 record will be taken down? History shows records are broken all the time. Just look at the record books for that information. As far as what is to come there is no evidence because it has not happened yet. But, we have Donovan Brazier, Ferguson Rotich, Nijel Amos and Amel Tuka all wanting that record. I think Brazier or Rotich will do it soon. I also think Bryce Hoppel has a chance but he still has a lot of developing to do. He is young but very fast and I derstands the race very well. This is an opinion and why I said I believe.

In my opinion I had Jan Zeleny as the hardest world record to beat, until Johannes Vettes got close to it the day! His technique looks identical to Jan but has more body weight!
shocked that you left Mike Powell's 1995 Long jump WR of 8.95m. You also left off Kevin Young's 46.78 400mH. Marita Koch's 47.60 400m. Bolt's 19.19 and 9,58; El Guerroj's 3:43.13 mile; Flo Jo's 10.49 and 21.33. Vulnerable: Merritt's 12.80; van niekerk's 43.03; Edwards's 18.29m; Rudisha's 1:40.91.
Powell's mark was almost beat by Carl Lewis IN THE SAME MEET - even when we exclude Carl's best jump due to the "official wind speed" being a very small amount over the limit. *BOTH* of them beat Bob's previous record LEGALLY in that meet.
I can agree but I would have liked to see Daniel Koman's 2 miles or 3000m world record. He's held these records for over 20 years and no one has come close to even breaking them. It's also incredible since he only really ran at the top level for 2 years and was able to do so much, while others have taken years running at the top to achieve their unbreakable world records.
It's interesting that you said that there "was one single moment that was absolutely unforgettable" from the Rio olympics. I remember when those olympic games was over, I thought the van Niekerk achievement was truly awesome, but the 10 000m by Almaz Ayana was out of this world. A world record that had been so hard/impossible to beat for so many years, and then she came to Rio and just obliterated an impossible record that had been standing untouchable for 23 years. I mean, she beat the record by 14 seconds. I would put Ayana before van Niekerk on this list, but I totally agree with your number one. That one will never be broken. The throw is simply ridiculous.
The women still get a lot less attention than the men in track & field. And I think there are a lot of interesting stories to be told on this channel, besides Flo-Jo & Kratochvilova, which are somewhat questionable at best. Although it is probably a good thing they did not inlcude the womens 10,000 meters in the "impossible world records", as that was beaten twice this year. I don't think we have an episode on Letesenbet Gidey yet...
Mike Powell's 29' 4 1/4" jump should have been on this list....only three people have jumped over 29' : Mike Powell, Bob Beamon, Carl Lewis, and Robert Emmiyan.
Powell's will be beaten. Since beamon, no one saw the point in trying to get the record. It was never that they couldnt. Both he and lewis jumped further in the same event but it was wind aided so the motivation was never to break the greatest wr ever seen but trying to win the gold. Plenty on their day could do it, as yet no one's needed to
Sure, but she's still active and she might break that record soon. 5th place on this list is too high - where is Koch's 400m or Flo-Jo 100m (apart of doping for sure)?

Christian Taylor jumped 59'9" last year. He could break it soon.
@@bigtimNorth whats that in meters
Well, Kenenisa Bekele lost his World record and I must say that even though the 10'000m one got broken too, it seemed stronger than the 5'000m one. But the 3'000m World Record of Daniel Komen is definitely stronger and even worse is the women's 3'000m that for a long time had a higher average speed than the 2'000m outdoor World record.
This list needs to be renewed. Warholm absolutely obliterated his 400mH WR two months ago.
It's not really an unbreakable record if the person who broke the record just did it and is on form. Unless you think it's impossible for Warholm to break the record again, then it's a very breakable record. This isn't a list of most impressive records, it's a list of most unbreakable because the records have stood for so long and don't seem likely to be challenged soon.
the 5k one at the start has now been broken
#4 Jarmila looks suspiciously like ... a man. (shrugs shoulders)
My list (in no particular order)
1. Women's 100m
2. Women's 200m
3. Women's 400m
4. Women's 800m
5. Women's Shot
6. Women's Discus
7. Women's LJ
8. Women's Hep
9. Men's 100m
10. Men's Javelin
That women 800m wr holder clearly on steroids no athlete is that much muscle mass over the upper body like that haha
Oh yea, she’s juiced like a fruit!
@@realistic_delinquent bit sad to put her in the list but only god knows who isnt cheating i guess
Same as Flo-Jo.
@@AndreasJohanns wow! i'm going to think twice now before taking my juice
I would say the most unbreakable record is Carl lewis indoor long jump record 28 feet 10 inches, it's stood since 1984, it's rare to see any long jumper go over 28 feet at all these even outdoor season
Flo jo's 10:49 for the 100m still stands after 32 years
one of th few unbiased review out there on records. I appreciate the work, keep up the good work.
Ah, this is going to be a good one!
0:37 Hang on a minute! 🤔
Im sorry but how you read Czech names is very funny :-D. But almost accurate, that's awesome!
3000 meters bro. Komen is well over 2 seconds (!) ahead of the second place, Hicham El Guerrouj, and I doubt we will see an athleat like him any time soon.
Agree!
Imagine running 2x 3:40 1500's back to back with no rest. This record is so tough no one will break in.. 50 years?
@@johnb1918 Nah, it's going to last a bit shorter than that. There's a bunch of talent in the 3000 coming up in Ethiopia and Kenya. Maybe someone like Worku or Wale could beat it.
This needs to be updated.
Flo Jo's 100m WR has been untouchable since 1988 - almost 32 years
DRUGS
@@Davesunflower everybody's in this list's druged
Doping, maybe?
@@benden5095 they found no drugs
Doped for sure, but still insane. Unbeatable for ever.
Where is Koch’s 400m record? Soon to be 34 years old. That will also be though to beat.
Though?! I think it's unbeatable for ever.
This world record is the biggest sports scandal of the history..this was definitely a MAN..47s!!!!!!!!!
I AGREE
It's going to last longer than Kratochilova's WR, despite being younger.
Another great video - thank you 🙏
Jarmila on that testosterone I see 👀
So glad I found this channel 😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It’s shocking to see people run 110 hurdles on the 5th height under 13 seconds 🤯
For anyone to beat Jonathan Edwards' triple-jump record, they'd have to be sponsored by Red Bull!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Wtf bro? Hicham El Guerrouj 1500m, mile or 2000m records ? This guy is literally the most underrated runner ever
Joshua Cheptegei has entered the chat
Surprised that Koch, flojo and sottomayor are out...
Nothing from Daniel Komen?????
Komens indoor 3000 should be near or at the top of this list imo
Any of his standing records should be let’s be real
6:14 cant believe thats a female race...
Might want to rethink that 5,000-meter WR being untouched ;)
The mile record has been standing strong for the last 20+ years.
That's cos nobody runs the mile
Ok mr Bolt

Marita Koch!!! 35 years baby!...... Nuff said. I can't believe you missed her.
Yeah. Even Kratochvilova, who was pretty much a dude by that time, couldn't touch it. Definitely even more untouchable than the women's 800.
Kratochvilova, Chistyakova and Joyner-Kersee should were all performance enhanced if we keeping it real.
Jacie was not
@@johnduda3573 sure thing bro. She was clean as a whistle. Best female sprinter of all dominated track at peak its PED infestation. I'm just a hater
Wow that was amazing....I liked this video.... thumbs up ...
Kind of funny how Bolt isn't even mentioned...
Ikr. Bolt is probably the most well known track star ever. Lol. His records are so ridiculous. He broke records like every month lol
It is because so many athletes are close to beating it, few more years, and he will be replaced
EL MEXICANO His time in the 100m and 200m has held up for the past decade. Not only this, but his times probably could have been faster if he didn’t mess around. He probably had practice runs faster than that.
EL MEXICANO no one other than bolt has run close to 19.19 or 9.58
Great job !!! I think however that the women's Discus should definitely be on the list!!!
Records are there to be broken 🤔

Wow...your video editing skills always gives me chills men...Superb work.
I believe men's 400 meters is going down in the next two years same as 800 meters.
800m isn't going anywhere. It is a tough record to beat
@@tkk3852 that is a tough record. When the bar is set high there will be people chasing to push it even higher. That is what I love about the sport.
Don Shields Keep dreaming - where is the evidence?
Agree that 800 is going down soon. Brazier is a monster and still very young...wait and see
@@umaxi96 the evidence of chasing records or that the 800 record will be taken down?
History shows records are broken all the time. Just look at the record books for that information.
As far as what is to come there is no evidence because it has not happened yet. But, we have Donovan Brazier, Ferguson Rotich, Nijel Amos and Amel Tuka all wanting that record. I think Brazier or Rotich will do it soon. I also think Bryce Hoppel has a chance but he still has a lot of developing to do. He is young but very fast and I derstands the race very well. This is an opinion and why I said I believe.
That Rudisha time is absolutely never getting beaten. People can't even get close.
Koch's 400m and the men's and women's high jump records.

@@colinhumphreys8818 I know it, but I was just pointing to records that aren't likely to be beaten. In the case of both Marita Koch and that lady who hit the high-jump record, their records may eventually be stripped from the books.
The chick in the women’s 800m was definitely on some sort of substance to produce that time
Sotomayor 8' 1/4 inch. No 1. Best of all time.

In my opinion I had Jan Zeleny as the hardest world record to beat, until Johannes Vettes got close to it the day! His technique looks identical to Jan but has more body weight!
Florence Griffith's 100m record should be here
These videos are incredibly well done. Thanks so much.
SALUDOS DESDE COLOMBIA
shocked that you left Mike Powell's 1995 Long jump WR of 8.95m. You also left off Kevin Young's 46.78 400mH. Marita Koch's 47.60 400m. Bolt's 19.19 and 9,58; El Guerroj's 3:43.13 mile; Flo Jo's 10.49 and 21.33.
Vulnerable: Merritt's 12.80; van niekerk's 43.03; Edwards's 18.29m; Rudisha's 1:40.91.
Yep poor video.
Young's 400mH was bound to fall. Warholm got so close, beat it, and then destroyed it.
Powell's mark was almost beat by Carl Lewis IN THE SAME MEET - even when we exclude Carl's best jump due to the "official wind speed" being a very small amount over the limit.
*BOTH* of them beat Bob's previous record LEGALLY in that meet.
The 5000m record got broken this month xD

Dude, Sedykh's hammer record stands since 86, only guy who came close was banned for steroids. So that will stand.
He was also doped for sure, like many other athletes of that time

Anyone here after Joshua Cheptegei broke both 5,000m and 10,000m world records? The man is redefining what's possible.
First
@Chris Martinez Ooh yeah
I’m not saying his current record does, but I think eventually Mondo will have a jump that tops everything else on this list
Hichan el gureonj mile record 3.43min
I can agree but I would have liked to see Daniel Koman's 2 miles or 3000m world record. He's held these records for over 20 years and no one has come close to even breaking them. It's also incredible since he only really ran at the top level for 2 years and was able to do so much, while others have taken years running at the top to achieve their unbreakable world records.
Though Jakob has yet to break the 3000 m wr, he did break the 2 mile by a huge margin so it’s not long before he breaks the 3000😅
It's interesting that you said that there "was one single moment that was absolutely unforgettable" from the Rio olympics.
The British guy Jonathan Edward's the world record holder in the tripple jump, wont be ever beat
A really underrated athlete. I think he once jumped 18:43 with an illegal tail-wind.
Number 10 just was broken! By 2 seconds too!
I only subbed to you about a year ago. I guess Bekele didn't bank on Joshua Cheptegei coming along. Great stuff buddy. Bless up 👊
Mike Powell's 29' 4 1/4" jump should have been on this list....only three people have jumped over 29' : Mike Powell, Bob Beamon, Carl Lewis, and Robert Emmiyan.
Powell's will be beaten. Since beamon, no one saw the point in trying to get the record. It was never that they couldnt. Both he and lewis jumped further in the same event but it was wind aided so the motivation was never to break the greatest wr ever seen but trying to win the gold. Plenty on their day could do it, as yet no one's needed to
That's 4 people, not 3.
Beamon and Emmiyan both had altitude help on their best marks.
@@bricefleckenstein9666 ....I should have said 'three OTHER people' in addition to Powell....

Sure, but she's still active and she might break that record soon. 5th place on this list is too high - where is Koch's 400m or Flo-Jo 100m (apart of doping for sure)?
Vetter just launched a 97.76, getting close...
