Congratulations... clean install with solder & shrink... looks good.. my 79B lives in So Calif and was overheating on warm days... installed the aluminum radiator and single 14" fan on the engine side of the radiator with sensor as your setup.... steady temperature even on the warmest days here.
I thought that John Twist said that the proper way to install the fan blade was to have the grub screw on the radiator side of the fan not the bumper side. He said it will cool but not as well as it should!
Also make sure your car has the under body air deflection panels in place to direct air to the rad - they are essential for proper cooling in rubber bumper B’s
Yes, I can see you are missing the air deflection panels - they were originally cardboard so typically fell apart. Replacement plastic ones are to be found at Moss Motors.
Thanks so much for reminding me! I actually had to remove it, because it was so rusted and in no shape to refit. I'll get a new one one Moss. I appreciate the reminder!!
Nice aftermarket radiator...!!! It's a good idea to use a wire strap, to secure the switch. They have a tendency to pop out, under normal pressure, as the grommet ages. You can imagine the ensuing nightmare, post pop.🥴 Your videos are excellent 👌
Watch that your coolant level is high enough or it won’t trip the URP switch. Also secure the switch with a zip tie through the rad as this switch is notorious for blowing out under coolant pressure. Check MGB information sites for further information. From another 1980 MGB keeper.
My coolant temp fan switch just blew out on my 1980 MGB. Terrible design. Do you know of any upgrades, like clamps that go around the radiator to hold the switch in place, that are for sale?
Where can I get the grommet for the aluminum radiator. I purchased a new aluminum radiator and the hole for the fan switch is larger than the stock radiator?

Thanks for the kind words!!
My fan switch stopped working too. I just flip on the manual switch when I'm driving and will get to the switch after the other priorities.

Thanks for the tips!
Perfect job, wil be interesting a link for the parts, thanks

Great suggestions, thank you!

Do you happen to have a video re: removing the smog equipment and adding the K&N filter?
Amazing work!
Thank you! Cheers!
