    Thanks, Josh. We had our elevated, cantilevered deck re-timbered with Merbau a few weeks ago and we are working out exactly what we need to do to coat the deck. Your video was just what I was looking for.

    Thanks Josh. I had bought the same product today and thought I'd check out a video before starting. My deck is in the exact same condition. We had it built about a year ago.
    This has helped me heaps. Much appreciated.

    Hey Josh, I've got a patchy deck at the moment. I cant sand back the timber as I have decking nails. Im wondering how a tannin and oil remover would go? What do you recommended it?
    For background information, ive got surrounding rendered walls which ill prep. And would be keen on using Intergrain products.

    Thanks for the video its really shown me how easy it is to maintain a deck.
    Ive noticed decking oils say you need to use deck cleaners before oiling, do you use any deck cleaners at all when reapplying oil or before the first time applying oil?
    I previously used a natural oil on my deck (my deck is exposed to the elements) it already seems like it needs to be redone again after 4 months.
    Can I switch from a natural oil based product to a water based product?
    How can I know if its time to recoat?
    Thanks for such a simple to understand video

    Hey mate, love the video! Is it Intergrain Natural oil you have used here (or the Merbau tinted oil etc)?
    Also have you happened to have used this oil recently? Had a read of the reviews on productreview and they were quite terrible. Lots of complaints about the deck being sticky even weeks later, turning milky in colour when it gets wet etc. Not sure if they have switched to a new formula potentially?

    Thanks for sharing, really helpful! Just one question - for a previous oiled decking (2 yrs ago) do we need to sand the wood down before re-coating?

    • @paintingbyjosh
      @paintingbyjosh  3 роки тому

      I Qi, thanks. I would recommend just a light sand if there is no flacking/blistering for adhesion and recoat. Regards josh

    Hi Mate, thanks for the vid this was really helpful! Just a couple of quick questions, I’ve got a spotted gum deck that I wasn’t able to maintain and has faded/become very weathered, before looking to re oil would you recommend I use intergrain reviver and ultra prep? Would those two solutions do the trick and allow for me to re oil without dramas?
    Second question was about cutting in for the second coat - should you cut in again or do you only have to do it for the first coat only?
    Cheers again for the vid and thanks in advance for your advice :)

    • @paintingbyjosh
      @paintingbyjosh  3 роки тому

      Hey mate, sorry for the late reply. Yes the reviver will work a treat then all depends on how it comes up give it a light sand and dust and straight over with the intergrain. I would recommend cutting in the same amount of coats as you are rolling or brooming it on. Appreciate you watching 💯 hope this helps

    Cool Vid, but I always pour from the front of the tin, that way I can still read the instructions in 6 months when I've forgotten them. Do you think Ultradeck Is better than Intergrains Natures Timber oil for hardwood decking? I've been trying to decide between the two.

    • @paintingbyjosh
      @paintingbyjosh  3 роки тому

      Yes if you no to sure on the product definitely pour from the front so you can read the directions. The whole intergrains products are really good and easy to use 👍

    Hey did you use any deck cleaner or pressure wash first? I’m unsure whether to bother. Don’t want to unless really necessary.

    • @paintingbyjosh
      @paintingbyjosh  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, No deck cleaner was used just a good sand and dust down and ready to go for previously stained decks.🙏

    Is there any concern of lap marks or drying marks between where you cut-in and where you transitioned to the stand up brush?

    • @paintingbyjosh
      @paintingbyjosh  3 роки тому

      This is a natural colour if it was a darker stain I would be concerned. Most waterbased timber stains are pretty easy to work with these days.

    Is there a tool for painting between the decking panels? Besides a brush, we just had ours done, and it looks crap on the edges

    • @paintingbyjosh
      @paintingbyjosh  Рік тому +1

      Hi mate. Usually the decking brush gets the sides of the decking. I'm not sure who done the job but maybe not done correctly. I would get a paint brush go through and brush the side the give the deck another coat. 👍
