POPULAR CARS OF THE 1990s : NOT POPULAR NOW
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лип 2024
- This is the story of America's popular cars in the 1990's. In the 1990s, the automobile industry drastically changed, pushing sedans out of fashion and replacing them with sports cars, SUVs, and pickups.
The ‘90s was a time of change. The millennium was approaching its end, and the war between baby boomers and millennials was beginning. The automotive industry was also undergoing a revolution.
Sedans, especially those made in the United States, were losing popularity.
Everyone wanted to celebrate the end of the year in style or at least with a bang after hearing rumors of Y2K happening one second after midnight in the year 2000. (how gullible were we?!). - Авто та транспорт

Far more interesting lineup of cars that you could easily identify, as opposed to today, that requires identification via looking at the emblems.
So true! We've said the same about the 60's and 70's. It's crazy these days!!
I find cars from the old days to look all so similar and I just can't tell the difference.
I agree though that brands are making all there models look the same and it's so hard to tell the difference.
All of the vechiles in VW, Lexus, Audi, MB, Acura, Cadillac etc have the same design langauge and it's hard to tell the difference.
Brands like Kia, Hyandai, and Toyota can have a brand identity but make the cars look different.
A Hyandai Sonota looks a lot different from a Hyandai Elantra. But you can tell it's part of the same brand.
While a VW Jetta looks basically like a VW Passat. With no inspiration at all.
I like watching old cars but seriously they all look the same and so boring with no passion. Mostly the 80s and 90s. Looking at all the 80s hatchbacks from Europe and I can't tell the difference at all.
Exactly. I used to be able to tell what a car was just by seeing its door handles. Now every car except E-cars and the Charger/Challenger have the same boring pull out handle.
There wasn't anything like a 90s Buick Roadmaster. What a floater!
Ah...the Roadmaster! A hunk a hunk of burning love! Gas anyway. lol Thanks Jim
I miss the 90's.

@@ThisOldCarChannel I have been sub'ed for a week or two.
My parents loved their 1997 Lincoln Town Car.
I drove a 96 once those towncars were massive
I'm so nostalgic for the 1992 Honda Accord my mom used to have one. I'd buy one with a manual transmission in a heartbeat
I think that the Lexus LS400 needs to be on this list. It single handedly altered the Luxury Car Industry. And redefine reliability. It forced the Germans and the Americans to change their ways. All whilst forcing the remaining Japanese car manufacturers to re-invent/re-imagine new upscale brands, like Infiniti and Acura (who actually were first to market). Thanks for the video.

Exactly .Start 1990 : 40K a year. Now : 5K
I had that exact teal green 1992 Honda Accord, and to this day, was one of the best riding cars I’ve owned.
"Tahitian Green Pearl" was exclusive to the Accord EX model. The same color of the '91 CRX Si I purchased new. The 4th gen Accords were Great cars. I still see them on the road. 🍀
The 96 was in my opinion the last well styled F150, definitely miss the square body trucks .
True! Thanks for watching. We hope you are a subscriber.
Whenever I see one of those Broncos in person or online, I right away think of the famous OJ Simpson chase.
Those mid 90s Impala SS's were beauties and fast! They should be increasing in value for collectors in the next 5-10 years.
The best 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS is the Mercury Marauder
And then suddenly one day, you realize that it's been a while since you've seen any of these vehicles on the road (at least in decent numbers). The 1990s were the pinnacle of simplicity, technology and in many cases, reliability. Minivans, sedans and sports/muscle cars were on their way out, SUVs were in and soon to change to Crossovers.
Good point, the 90s and early 2000s were the last stand for low tech affordable cars and trucks
The broncos explore and jeeps are still common were I am
Now it's official. I never owned a "popular" car in the 1990's. So proud of myself! Haha
Started the decade driving a 1988 Dodge Daytona and ended it driving a 1997 Chrysler Sebring Convertible JX. Kinda surprised my 1993 Ford Taurus didn't make the top 10.
lol....Lucky you!
My dad was young in the 90's and the cars he did drive was 1960 Cadillac Cuopé Deville, 1975 Chevrolet Caprise ×2, 1971 Chevrolet Impala, 1963 Ford Farilane ×2, 1966 Oldsmobile Cutclass, 1971 Plymouth Satelite, 1963 Plymouth Belvedere, 1964 Cadillac Fleetwood, 1964 Pontiac Grandpix, 1965 Plymouth Belvedere, 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air, 1972 Chevrolet Townsman, 1966 Lincoln Contienetal ×2, 1977 Lincoln Contienetal, 1975 Oldsmobile Cutclass, 1966 Dodge Dart GT, 1967 Dodge Dart GT, 1970 Buick Electra 225, 1959 Desoto Adventure, 1967 Dodge A100, 1973 Mercury Marquis, and some old Mercedes.
Back in the 90's I worked for a small state law enforcement agency in the mountains in NC. Although it wasn't my daily vehicle our fleet had a Jeep Cherokee like the one in this video we could use when going to more rugged areas. Some of these areas were more than just rugged but that thing never let me down (or anyone else I know of that used it). It was tough and felt really light on its feet for an SUV. Also it had a straight 6 that was pretty damn strong. I loved using that thing. I can see why they were so popular.
Black Mountain, NC, still uses one of these along with a couple of Vics and Chargers obviously.
In the 90s, you could take an SUV offroad and it would perform reliably. Can't do that with newer SUV's.
Great video thanks for sharing. It’s a real shame it’s so hard to find a station wagon these days. One of my favourite memories as a kid growing up in the 60s and 70s was travelling round Australia in our 1966 VE Valiant Regal Safari. Although Valiants really liked rusting out those slant sixes were bulletproof. One of my favourite cars on this video has to be the Chevy impala SS. One of our local truckees imported one back in the 90s it looked a brilliant bit of kit. Loving your work. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I had a brand new 1990 red Jeep Cherokee Grand Lorado. 6 cylinder 4x4 anti lock brakes, every option Jeep had. $18,200.00 out the door.
Great vehicle.
I recently found your channel. Good content. I subscribed and went back and watched most of your old stuff. Keep up the good work
Welcome aboard!
I think the Cherokees of the 90's will become more of a collectable as they get even more rare, great design. Old Miatas are held in pretty high regard.
My dad had a burgundy 1997 ford f150 xlt single cab long bed, absolutely bare bones except for a cassette player and AC. His had 4x4, automatic with overdrive and the 4.6L V8
I have a 1995 Jeep Cherokee XJ Sport and it's my dream SUV, one of the best SUVs ever built.
The bronco, explorer, jeep, Honda Accords and mx5s are still popular and everywhere where I am 👌
My dad had a 92 F150 brand new. Had about 230,000 miles when he sold it in 05. His was the stripped down Custom trim.
I had a brand new 93. 4.9 manual trans. Loved the look of that truck.
The GMT400 Generation of Chevy Trucks N SUVs were the Peak of the C/K. No BS, No Luxury. Just good Ol Reliable Trucks that provided as much utility for decent value
For sure Billy. Thanks for watching. We hop you're a subscriber!
4:48 my fav tho
Yes I had two full size Broncos... a 1979 and 1989 nice roomie, powerful and safe ... miss both of them. The new toy Bronco they just brought out is a joke ... don't car companies realize that drivers still need to pull trailers and want big vehicles without buying a pickup truck.

When I was young both of my parents had 93 and 95 civic hatchbacks. Then bought an 1999 Isuzu Rodeo when my sister was born.
Crown Vic, Taurus, Caprice, Explorer, Suburbans...every street as grass😅
I drive a honda odyssey 1999, love it
Awesome vid!

My mother had a 1991 Toyota Camry DX with a V-6 Engine, it was a 4 door sedan, my father and I had a 1994 Ford Taurus GL Station Wagon also with a V-6 Engine and a 4 Speed Automatic.
Sorry- my 'dad' "cranked" a Model-T!
Nice lineup I was born in 90 and these vehicles are what I seen growing up as a kid I've also had the chance to own a few decent daily 90s vehicles the Plymouth laser AWD 5 speed the eagle talon awd tsi, there's a few other cars missing but got most of them
I blame the Ford Exploder for today's infatuation with Suburban Assault Vehicles.
My 1st car was a 1998 Ford Contour SE in light denim blue. I got it in mid October 1999. It was a 4 door sedan. I had that car a little bit over 5 and 1/2 years. It was very good first car.
When I think of the 90’s I think the cars I liked: Camaro, Mustang, Acura Integra, and Legend, Honda Accord and preludes, Lexus SC400’s, Ford Lightening, Ranger and of course Bronco’s and Chev Blazer’s. The mini vans I blocked out, at the time I would rather have walked, ranking up there with the Pontiac Aztec proving Americans will buy anything for a good price!

newest Bronco 🐎 😎
Cool 😀
I like the Chevrolet Suburban GMT400 Because The wheels look beautiful and the body looks really nice
Im 22, these are the cars I drive, that road master, that corvette and a clean 5 speed 1997 maxima, lmao.
I often see 4th and 6th gen Honda Accords on the road. I still drive my 6th gen '02 SE purchased new. It still runs great, with only 88k on the clock. Unfortunately, the clear coat has been shot for years. Friends don't let friends drive black Hondas! 😂🍀
Ah yes... the white Ford Bronco, a boxy, dated SUV that was getting a bit long in the tooth until the OJ Simpson thing, then everyone suddenly wanted a white Ford Bronco. I know it would be in poor taste, but it would be cool to see OJ Simpson in a commercial for the newly released Bronco, maybe have him drive a white Bronco on the freeway with some sort of witty comment.
I have 2 cars on this list which makes me happy ,
92 Accord qnd a 96 Miata 🎉
I used to have a 1995 Honda Accord. My first car I bought brand new. I was so excited.

I married into a FORD FAMILY 😁 Three brothers and their dad bought FOUR BRONCOS ONE BLACK WITH RED PIN STRIP ONE TWO TONE BROWN ONE TWO TONE BLUE AND ONE SOLID RED ONE. My husband and I bought the RED one from his brother. They sure did look good LINED up together.
Mabye They Ran Away!
I love 90s n early 2000s especially even today
How did the Dodge Neon not make this list???
my grandpa had a wagoneer and cherokee they were awsome suv's my dad drove them offroad and they were tanks

My favorite was last. Gen Buick Riviera of mid 90's
War between Boomers & Millennials? Remember Gen. X, the O.G. Boomer critics? Newest car I've owned 1988 Accord DX, not too reliable.
It's the first inaccurate comment I've seen on a Boca Bros video. Millennial birth years were early 80s to mid 90s. Boomers weren't "at war" with children 0-10yrs old.
Haven't bought a new truck since the early 80's. Guess I'm not in the popular group.

The Foxbody tho!!!!!!
When i was in high school in the mid 2000s every girl drove an oldsmobile cutlass in red blue or white. That was the official car for hot girls back then.

As a 90s kid I would own well some of these vehicles 😅😏
The Ford explorer was not known to roll over. People did not know how to drive.
lol.....
Where’s Toyota Camry 😅
Millienials can knock 90's cars all they want, I still miss my "90 Mustang 5.0 5speed LX, you could actually Use it. Who really needs 4 or 500 horsepower of the newer ones
Gen z and snowflakes don't appreciate low tech strait foward cars. Rear wheel drive colum shift body on frame split bench seats. Engines you did not have to be a computer technician to service. All they give a shit about is screens backup cameras and how many ports on the dash they can plug their smartphone into.

I would like to hear about Cadillac's pickup along with the GMC Sprint and of course The El-Camino if at all possible. Thank You and enjoying the videos on all of these iconic vehicles 👍👍👍😃😎✌👋
Where is the Honda Del sol that's in the thumbnail? Didn't it make the grade?
I know right? What about the Mercury Capri that's also in the thumbnail? I mean why did they put it there if they're not going to mention it.
1990s with no eclipses
No GMC Syclone or Typhoon. no Daytona IROC RT. no Pontiac Firebird. no Ford Thunderbird, or Mercury Marauder. n no Dodge Viper. Mass FAIL those were Last of the Attainable cool cars. now it's all sedann suv truck. NO 2 door coupes at all..SAD. all plastic, with too much tech. n onboard computer running engines, n functions. can't be worked on with regular tools. n so expensive to fix msy as well Junk it n buy another. bein practical, was Lost with Tech obsession.
The Chrysler cirrus LXi was a great car!
Um, I would say the 78 Little Red Express, 87 Shelby Dakota, 91 Syclone, 9p 454SS all showed Americans what a mistake truck could be long before the Lightning. The Miata was popular only among a small group, the Taurus was the best selling selling sedan from 92 to 96 and then the Camry which easily left the Accord behind both. Impala SS was fantastic, but had a short 3 year run sadly and had very limited sales. The Bronco died in 96 while HM kept build 2 door full-size SUVs for a years after. You list made no sense overall.
I don't get it, these are all still popular now.
Five point litre…..you surely meant five point o. Finish all the sentences and reduce the pauses between words. Ithas a Shatner feel that gets tired quick. Otherwise, good.
Corvette???
Americans sedans old fashioned? My daily driver car? 1988 caprice classic…..since 2003
Now they are sought after and collectible and modern cars are considered trash 😂
What no ford probe
Literally all these cars are pretty popular today as well...Miata, Explorer, Bronco? Ya'll have good enough content you don't need clickbait titles. just saying.
Not my favorite era of cars. Sedans all had that jellybean shape. But domestic cars really did make a big improvement in quality. Just a side note..no mention of GenXers?
Thanks for watching. Make sure and subscribe cause we'll be giving out prizes soon!
Should have been a T/A not a Camaro. it is a better car looks and performance.
By what criteria did you determine that these were the most popular models? With the exception of the Honda Accord, these were all Fringe models, not mainstream.
The F-150, the Jeep XJ..... "fringe"? LOL Stick to your Corolla, Suzy.
Considering there are more Jeep XJs than 92 Corollas
@@broeheemed32 well, to begin with, neither the Jeep nor the Ford F100 are cars, and since you mentioned it, the Corolla was extremely popular. For much of the 90's, Taurus was the most popular sedan.
@@cacline72 are now or were then? Check your facts and sales figures.
Do your homework sir. Merriam Webster definition of CAR 1: a vehicle moving on wheels:
What was the criteria for this list? Was it just...random vehicles you remember? The Bronco wasn't more popular than the Taurus. The Camry closed the decade as the best-seller of the segment. The XJ Cherokee was anywhere near as popular as the S10 Blazer. You profiled the 80s Mustang more than the 90s version, which didn't have the 5.0L V8.
This is just a list of 90s vehicles.
Uh! They were as the title says...90's cars.
Het bros in think the late 90s Volvo s
they are not popular because they are all in the junk yard
lol......
"Popular"?? By what measure?
The last generation of full size Bronco from 1992 to 1996 only sold about 160,000 and was replaced by the Expedition.
The Ford Taurus in the same period sold over 2.5 million. Even after it was uglified in 1996 to the melted jellybean, in that year alone it sold nearly 4 times the total number of 1990s Broncos.
Only about 70,000 Impala SSs where built in the production years of 1994 to 96. Even the S Series Saturn did 500,000 in sales in the same 1990 to 1996.
You need a new title. "Boca Bros favourite cars of the 1990s".
You can drop the minivans if you want. We'll understand.
Thanks for watching. Make sure and subscribe cause we'll be giving out prizes soon!
I hate SUVs.
I hate the 90s Camaros. Hated them as a kid. Hate their memory now.
How is the Thunderbird not included?! Those cars were everywhere, i myself owned 2 95's lol...
We purchased our first new car…a Chevy Nova 1986. Drove it 10yrs, 175K, 4cyl.
