  • Today, we answer a question asked about Erector Spinal Tightness and how to release the muscles. If you box, sit in front of the computer or stare at your phone all day, you are putting your head in a forward position and this can cause muscles imbalances that can lead to pain.
SNU RMT Crystal(@sybingco.rmt) explains what's happening with the muscles and shares some stretches on how to release them to prevent pain.

I've had pain in my back only when I stand and really feel it when I arch my back. In morning is the WORST it's so stiff and painful then goes away in less then 10min and don't even have to move much. I watched so many damn videos and did so many effing stretches! Finally did the superman/cobra pose which helped SOOOOOOO much! Chin tucks help alot also!
Bad bra & terrible posture when sitting at home (mainly on my bed hunched over with rounded shoulders) are huge factors!
Wish I knew what causes the pain when I'm sleeping. I just lay on my back. Mattress isn't to soft or hard and no sagging.

Reminds me of "The Princess and the Pea" story. Maybe you're royalty? (Just kidding). Anyway, I too sleep on back and have pain. Swimming and a good Massage Therapist are helping.

I would say there is problem with hips, more than upper body. ;)

Thank you so much for this! but please, can you explain in maximum detail, what "allow the stretch to come from your midsection"means?

She means try not to rotate your hips, so basically rotate from your abs up while keeping your hips pointing straight down.
