- This is Episode 3 of Project Africa. After cycling across half of Egypt chased by the police, we reach the ancient cities of Luxor and Aswan. In the land of temples, hieroglyphs, palm trees, hospitality, and camels, I discover a new local drug and get completely hooked. And it makes the whole adventure … a lot juicer :)

You are the MVP here
as an Egyptian living in Egypt for over 20 years, i admit you successfully had more adventures in Egypt than me. go on man, you are courageous and amazing
LONG LIVE EGYPT! 🇪🇬
I know Egypt very well I used to live there the cops run the streets of Egypt it’s really nothing you can do I mean you’re in Egypt acting like a CIA agent or the Peace Corps is another offspring of CIA what do you expect.
That's what happens. The tourists come in and visit way more stuff than the people living there normally do.
@@PurringWonderlandexactly😂..wherr I live, people who move here; I learn from them on what to do and hang out
Best Egyptian tour ever.
As a Canadian living 'off the beaten path' in Egypt for the last 12 years, I gotta say that this is an honest and interesting portrayal of real modern Egypt. Often chaotic, but always interesting, a trip to Egypt is what you make of it. The people are fun-loving and hospitable. I'm proud to call Egypt my home now.

Hiya, I wonder if you could advice me on hiring a car in Egypt- I’m setting off for Cairo in 6 days and the car hire from the Scotland is looking pricy!
I’m hoping there are car hiring places in Cairo that would be cheaper than hiring from here
I’m wanting to drive through Cairo to Luxor and tour for a few days then back to Cairo but funds are low & I don’t want to take the train or bus
@@kellymorgan4304 UBER works and it's not expensive
@@CDNinEGYIt’s to travel from Cairo to Luxor and all over Luxor - I wanted the freedom of going where I want and hiring a car! The deposit on the car hire is ridiculous 😞
@kellymorgan4304 I'm sure its cheaper there but you have to find a local to get it for you so you don't get over charged for being foreign
Wow, Roberto! Your adventures in Egypt are absolutely captivating. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen as you cycled through the stunning landscapes, faced challenges with the police, and explored the ancient cities of Luxor and Aswan. Your enthusiasm and genuine curiosity shine through, and I love how you embrace the local culture and experiences. That unexpected twist with the local drug had me hooked too! Can't wait for the next episode to see what else you uncover. Keep living the juiciest adventures!
Such an underrated channel, the effort you put in these videos while editing and traveling at the same time really amazes me, this series is so well made and the atmosphere with the amazing storytelling and music made that feeling like I was with you guys cycling, 10/10 Masterpiece.
I'm Egyptian and same bro, i'm addicted to sugar cane😂, any Egyptian working outside Egypt first thing he does when he come back is drinking sugar cane juice, i think even before he see his family 😂, btw i enjoyed every second of your videos of Egypt, very talented, very professional
As a now near-housebound ancient lady traveller, I can't tell you energising and heartwarming it is to watch you guys on your journey. Oh - and sugar cane! I was born and raised in Sabah, Borneo and cane season was a huge thrill for us children, too. Great filming/editing, as well. Much love and many thanks to you all.
this is an incredible project, thank you for putting the time into it
Thank you for your visit to Egypt, wishing you a peaceful journey through MAMA AFRICA , and will be always waiting for you to visit Egypt again ❤
What an amazing record of an incredible adventure! Clearly, very very few people ever get to see North and Central Egypt. Thank you ❤
What an adeventure of a lifetime, Rob!! Thanks to you guys I can now visualize places in Egypt I've never been to (especially the underrated ones) and I'm so intrigued to relearn hieroglyphics again. Keep it up! :)
The best Egyptian travel video I've seen! Well done.
Man, the quality of your videos definitely is on par with heavily established travel vloggers with millions of subs. Only recently discovered you and only watched your egypt vids, but its enough to convince me to wanting to visit Egypt some day. subbed
Such a feelgood channel man, I'm looking at the connections you've made and it's so genuine. The places are beautiful, people have a vested interest in you as you do them. What a good time, Subbed!
Wow, the most amazing videos about Egypt, and I salute you for your wonderful effort in editing the video
You are very good at story telling! Loved your video. I was also staying on the same island you guys were at in Aswan! And we took a group picture as well next to your bikes and stuff, was waiting for this video since then! Keep up the great work ❤🔥
You completely changed my mind about the beauty of Egypt ❤
It’s absolutely beautiful thank you for sharing your journey ❤
I love Egypt. I visited once and went back 20 years later to live and work for a season. This is some of the best footage of the country and its treasures I have seen. Well done.
this channel is so underrated i love the editing so much you never get bored
What a great journey...thank you for taking us with you.
You are very talented and your content is extremely fun to watch. Keep up the good work
As an Egyptian lives abroad used to struggle with finding a good sugarcane drinks all over few countries mostly in SEAsia cause it's not concentrated and mixed with a lot of ice, also with explaining this to my foreign friends but now this video will make it easier for me next time.. Thanks bro ❤ Keep it up.
Egyptian sugar canes hit different. Nowhere else where they as good
does it have anything other than sugar in it? he probably took more sugar than i do in a year lmao
@@Error_-qz2zr yes it tastes so good not just sugar
The sugarcane juice in SEA don't taste sweet enough to you?! I already feel like getting diabetes after drinking half a cup.
Try street markets in Brazil or Peru they have real good sugar cane and the same cane crushing machines to produce juice as in Egypt. Also in south america and SEAsia you will find panela / rapadura / gur which is sugar cane syrup cooked, purified, concentrated and dried into tablets. You can eat them as is or like in Argentina disolve a piece in water and drink it.
Also if you eat raw sugarcane always use it as if it was a toothbrush, use the fibers against and in between the teeth because the minerals found in most cultivations of sugar cane actually make your teeth incredibly white. Don't do this with the juice and refined produce though, they are not so good. Cheewing sugar cane also increases production of saliva which also promotes good mouth hygiene.
after all the "my nightmare trip to Egypt" videos that have been cropping up lately, this was absolutely refreshing to see - nuanced, tender and sensitively executed.. thanks so much for showing the country in a different light :)
first time ive seen your videos, this one was on of the first videos I didnt skip through in a while! great content

The bucket was interesting but maybe it is just collecting water, mentioned in the hieroglyphic writing. Fresh Water is life in a desert, maybe it's always been a place to gather water over night..

What a great story, each time I watch your videos, I learn a whole lot, thanks for inspiring the world.
LOL We lived in Cuba for a few years while I was a kid. I remember sugar cane!!! I had no idea it grew in Egypt. In Puerto Rico, there are stand all along the road for the juice. Egypt is SUCH a beautiful country!!!! I would be SO into the historical sights! It would be breathtaking to physically see those tiny hieroglyphics, and ponder on the hands who painted and carve them. The tiny delightful details. Many people put their FOCUS on that stone to create. I'd want to touch, but that's a bad idea. There is still gilding on some of those characters; it has to be incredibly thin after all this time.
subbed and started from the beginning. this is epic! Respect from norway
You've earned my subscription today i love what you're doing Africa as a continent is beautiful and the culture is absolutely amazing!!
You might think that by doing your tour through Africa you'll be only learning new things, but actually you'll be affecting the places you visit as much as you'll be learning from them.
negative nancy over here
@@LtClean1 I never said "you'll be affecting the places you visit negatively". Everyone leaves a mark wherever they go, and I trust that he will leave good marks as much as I believe he might leave negative ones too. I was just commenting to advise him to be careful with his interactions with the new cultures and people he meets, that's all.
as an egyptian i must say thank you for visiting our country
most people in the comments just hate on egypt (not including afro-centrics)
but your positivity is just AMAZING
Kind of a disrespectful smirk towards addicts.
I think for a lot of people, myself included, the negativity doesn't come from a place of racism. It comes from frustration at how the government treats foreigners.
The people, culture and landscape all look like things I want to experience but it seems like every clip I see of people visiting Egypt, it's the same stuff. "They harassed us for money". "They harassed us to delete our footage." "They followed us everywhere to limit what we saw, did and filmed." "They demanded bribes to do xyz." "They confiscated our equipment and made us pay to get it back... then 'lost' it."
There are 195 countries on this planet. I don't feel the need to deal with all of this in Egypt when there's so much else to explore without the constant barrage of foreigner-targeted schemes and scams.
Honestly i think most people who aren't racist just hate on egypt because of their corrupt government tbh
Yeah unless you like police hovering around you like flies to shit, it kind of hard to have good experience. That is no slight on the common people it just ruins any trip. Why do that when you could go anywhere else? Somehow the government doesn't get it. Corruption and excessive hawking has ruin many a tourist industry. It is one thing respecting culture but this isn't culture it is pure corruption.
Awesome!
Great content, I love your enthusiasm and your video editing skills are the shit bro
This was really cool to watch. You have a new subscriber, for sure.
Wow, his explanation of the hieroglyphs.... Where the people stopped worshipping the main God and so the god sent down vengeance to scare the people into worshipping him. Reminds me a lot of the early stories of other early religions. Especially Christianity it's almost like humans come up with the same myths and stories no matter how different their beliefs are. I feel like a big part of it is about controlling people through religion and not wanting people to change from the religion that maintains that control. It's fascinating.
the ancient Egyptians were monotheists, the first monotheistic religion ever was Al-Idrisi religion which were the followers of a prophet called Idris (pre-flood) many scholars both from medieval time (such as Ibn Kathir, Al tabiri and al-idrisi) and modern say that Idris is the same as Osiris and he lived in Egypt in ancient ancient times. Egyptians dont have concept of Gods btw they were called NTR which means divine hand which is wrongly translated today as Gods but they werent, they were more like divine angels and prophets. Think of Anubis is the angel of the underworld Sekhmet was god's wrath. Its not far fetched that the ancient Egyptians knew about monotheists religions. They knew a great deal about the after life and the concept of judgment after some one dies. They however identified Ra as the sole creator who nothing came before him and nothing after he is the one that founded the universe (according to the book of the dead). I think Ra was just the Egyptian name for God..
Most myth and religions are built on stories they heard during the times the Bible takes place.
oh yeahhh sugar cane juice is freaking gooood
Excellent work!!!

It’s funny to see him fall in love with sugar cane because I legit have a whole field right behind my house and I’ve just taken it for granted😂

I feel like your experience with trying to make the video where you make a certain number of videos in a set number of days helped you learn so much about how to manage doing a huge undertaking like this and balancing your time and editing while on the the go. I know that experience was extremely hard for you. But I don't think you would be as well suited if you hadn't gone through that.
Absolutely, and I'm now prioritizing mental health and enjoying/learning from the experience over consistency on UA-cam, social media growth and metrics. What mattwrs to me is making quality videos I can look back to a few years from now. They're still not up to the standard I want them to be, but I'm doing my best while on the road and teying to find a balance
