  • On our second day cycling in Egypt, we got caught by the police, and we were told they had the order to escort us for "security reasons" for 800 km until we leave the country. Or so they thought... What they didn't know was that the most epic (and long) police chase in history was about to go down...

Glad most Egyptians are lovely people.

@@RobertoHelou yes...from Cairo to Luxor but they wouldn't let me!! after a few miles the police stopped me and forced me to go with them back to Cairo and go by train (after waiting 15 hours and having to sleep in a dirty hotel) obliging me to buy a First Class Ticket...that turned out to be an overpriced regular tourist class seat.... They wouldn't even let me walk: when I was in Luxor the next day I wanted to enjoy walking to the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens etc...and after rejecting a couple of taxis a police car started following me and eventually offered to escort me wherever i wanted to go...so I spent the entire time arguing with the police instead of enjoying the walk. Same thing the next day when I tried to bike to Karnak, like 2 or 3 miles away from Luxor...I'm sure they' had been watching me the entire time...like if I deserved a special treatment...for traveling alone and according to them that's suspicious....however...the official reason for limiting my freedom was, according to the police, for my safety...but I haven't seen any danger at all, the people were awesome...the only harassment came exclusively from the police constantly attached to my butt.
