Hey Alyn welcome to Turkey :) Loved your photos. Ooo Türkçe konuştuğunu bilmiyordum :) hoşgeldin tekrar. Sanırım kanalının büyük bir fanı olacağım bundan sonra :)
Hi Alyn. Stunner !! I'm always blown away by the quality of your images and these are as good as any I've seen in your videos. Really interesting to see your use of the neutral light filter - the explanation was a real education - nice one! As well the owl noises, it was so kind of you to share the bowel noises ;) at 11:20. Turkish cuisine can have some interesting outcomes, can't it !! Another top video Alyn. Many thanks for sharing.
was just about to crack on and finish some work when this popped. Needless to say all work has stopped and no wonder, holy sh*t Alyn, the quality of those images really were jaw dropping
7.27 Scops owl Alyn we get a lot of them here in Coin, Spain. What an enjoyable video this is and the images Wow, super impressed with your mastery of the Turkish language.👍👍
michael kerrigan thanks a lot Michael! We actually found out in the end with some intrinsic Google searching but thanks for letting me know 😊 glad you enjoyed the vlog and pics
Great work I love the big dipper shots you've been taking recently its refreshing. And that low flying duck at 11:22 killed me I laughed out loud at my office. Must be guy humor hahahaha. All the shots were great and I have been out trying this myself and it isn't as easy as it looks and I laugh to myself now as people scroll through 500px or Instagram and see all the milky way shots and just pass on by when it's actually pretty difficult to achieve if you don't have any idea what you are doing.
Hi Alyn! It was a pleasure to see this video. I was already a suscriber, but now after I met you in Tenerife I am fan of your work.... Loved those images you show from Capadocia and love the way your videos makes me get into the scene. Great work Alyn! Waiting to see Tenerife un your blog 😀😀 Best regards, Carlos Almagro
love the fact that we can nowadays use our phone as remote shutter. You can look for the max range where your phoen still connects to the cam, start the shutter release timer and then continue the journey for a self portrait :D
Your pictures are stunning :-) My first attempt at long exposure astrophotography was at some ings near me. No-one was within 1km, well away from the trees, standing stock still in my green flat cap. After a few pics I felt something like a like hand resting on the back of my head. (After screaming like an 8 year old girl) I realized an owl had decided I was a convenient perch!
Hey Alyn!.. Accidentally found your channel and it was nice to watch such a video taken in Cappadocia. What's surprising was your almost flawless Turkish in the end. Hope you enjoy your stay in Turkey if you are still here and have nice days ahead. Nice video by the way, nice photos as well!..
I haven't had the best of luck with the Haida Clear Night filter that i purchased. Doesn't seem to do much, other than reduce the light by half a stop and throw off the whitebalance. But it's probably because everything is LED now. Great video as usual, and stunning images!
Unreal mate!. I loved the pano at the end. 😍😍 And there was a particular composition in this video I loved the most! It's at 11:46 😍 a path leading to the milkyway. ✌🏼👌
Shoot & Show haha I sometimes use a remote but this is more fun! And yup all Sony A73. Really happy with how the images came out from it, sharpness, noise, colour... Just delicious!
Great vlog Alyn, don’t know about light pollution, was thinking more chemical warfare after that fart 😂 I’ve been living near Fethiye for the last 8 yrs and not managed the lingo yet lol, something to do with being Scottish I think 🙄🏴 the swearing is no probs though 🤬🤬🤬🤬 keep up the good work mate, cheers Davy...
Great vídeo!!!! When you take Pictures whit you.. still on 10-15 secs and 2.4..8.. Or you take more pics whit a closed F and blend? And whit the filter, how many secs do you use? Thanks you!!
MY APPRECIATION FOR THIS VIDEO IN 2 PARAGRAPHS: These images are beyond profoundly aesthetic, that they seem fictitious.... Almost Like CGI.... I suppose I have resided in this light polluted area called Houston, TX for such a prolonged duration of time, that I have yet to behold the unvarnished grandeur of this world/universe with my own eyes (Left inarticulate)......... Normally,.. most people often inform me that I habitually have the tendency to explain things in verbosity,.. & I frequently inform them of my endearment for my particularized or expound modus operandi elocution,... but in the instance of this awe-inspiring, sumptuous, & deeply majestic illustration that lifts the vail of obscurity & devulges the mesmerizing & ubiquitous mistress that we have perpetually spent our days neglecting the opportunity to contrive a bond with........ I have been rendered speechless & flabbergasted.
Espero que el traductor de Google te traduzca esto. Me encanta este vídeo de la Capadocia. Comunicas la escénica de lo maravilloso de la fotografía nocturna. Un saludo muy grande desde las Islas Canarias.
Words with Winos Travel Vlog thanks a lot! Love the place, great for culture, hiking, food, mind blowing landscapes, balloon rides!! It's quiet place too there's no night life as such so good place to chill out and rest up. Istanbul is also incredible there's so much to do. Or the beaches of the south west, I particularly like Kabak Valley and Butterfly Valley :)
So good! I have a question, when you have a foreground with the milkyway in the back, do you focus on the subject in the foreground or infinity at the stars? Or do you focus stack to get both in focus? And for lightpainting the foreground, it seems like the light pollution is helping right? or did you add some light to it?
Bader Kanawati thanks! I focus to infinity (on the stars 80% of the time). On a wide angle lens you'd be surprised how much will be in focus. If I'm super close to my foreground subject I'll focus stack. And yeah, the light pollution helped light the foreground in this case, I didn't do anything
So impressed with you channel. Congrats dude. Just dropping a question: Wouldn´t be easier and cheaper do some WB on site plus in postprocess? Plz keep uploading such a nice footage :D
Quico Segura Gonzàlez thanks a lot! It's more than just a white balance shift though, it cuts down the yellow light received by the sensor, not the same as editting in post production :)
Hi Alyn. Do you still use the Kase filter? Do you think it’s worth buying? Just watched a whole load of your videos. A great channel which inspires me to get out there and have a go.
Alyn Wallace well keep up the great work. Can't wait to see your video from Tenerife. I feel bad for the couple that got their gear stolen from their car. I'm never keeping my stuff in the car ever again because of that 😂
Yes they cut out yellow light as I mention in this video. They add a bit more contrast to the night sky. They don't work against LED light pollution though, only the old yellow sodium bulbs so it depends on what the lights are like in your local area
Quick question, do you use your 150-600mm for deepspace photography? if so whats it like restricted to f5 aperture? looking for a super zoom for deep space but not sure what to go for. Thanks!
Marina Prol Franco thanks Marina! Yeah would be amazing if it was darker but still, could be lighter too! We found out in the end with some intrinsic Google search but thanks for letting me know 😊
Which Filters did you use ? Please... the Title of that Video is " Light Pollution Filters" but I can't see any Link in you Gears List of the Filters ... funny
Hello! Congratulations for your videos, they are fantastic, and the photos you make, incredible. You could tell me what kind of filter and where to get the filter to neutralize the light pollution coming from the streetlights of the cities. Thank you so much
Alyn Wallace Hello Alyn, the email address that you have given me, it appears to me that it is not correct and will not let me send it to you. Send me a correct mail please. Thank you
Hi, firstly I really enjoy your channel and I’ve learn whole lot from your vids. Saying that I’ve got question to ask. Can you replicate effect of that filter in post? I’m wondering if it’s effect it’s comparable to polarised filter and it’s effect on reflection (as we know that can’t be replicate in post). I thinking of getting light pollution filter but if we can get same result in post I rather keep my money and spend on other camera gear. It’s 100£ and wanna make sure I’m spending my money right way 😉
Thank you for this test of the Kase neutral night filter, I am wondering if you already tested the lonelyspeck purenight premium filter, and then to give your thought about your choice ? / Thank you
I haven't tested them no but I can't see there being much difference in all of these light pollution filters to be honest, they're all simply made of didymium glass and will have very similar spectrums. The Kase one is shatterproof/drop-proof mind so has that going for it
Due to technology, we now have the lovely LED street lights which the light pollution filters don't block :/ the city where i live in Norway only use these LED street lights with bright white LED's, and combine that with the snow and you get insane amount of light pollution.
Here's a recommendation for the selfies, try an intervalvoemeter and time lapse till when you get there, a few while you're there. higher chances of getting the shot in one try!
Hey bud 👍🏼 That filter looks incredible!! As I’m bit of a noob :) I’ve got a question.. can you replicate what that filter does in post? Or.. is a filter like this a bit like a polariser.. in terms of its an effect that’s really hard or impossible to do in post without looking crazy over processed.. Do you understand what I’m getting at bud?lol I hope so as this goes out to the world!haha ;/
If you're shooting wide angle you can kinda replicate it in Lightroom yeah but its not completely the same. The filter reduces the amount of yellow light coming into the camera so you do get more contrast in the night sky. They work a lot better for longer focal lengths though like 50mm up, then you simply can't replicate the effect
Yes, I think you must try the star tracker first and after that, the next 'logic' step is a modified camera (clip-filters work better in modified cameras). I will make the astro-conversion soon :) Talking to Adrien Mauduit clear all my doubts... I'm not sure if Alyn has a modified camera as well (?)
Hi Alyn :) I'm an Italian Photographer and Videomaker. I just sold my Canon 80D with 10-18 STM and 50 STM to buy Sony A73 with Sonnar 55mm f1.8 and Sony 28mm f2. I also have a Zhiyun Crane V2 in order to make stable movies even when i'm running, walking etc... you surely know what i'm speaking about. How do you fell with your new A73 comparing it with the Canon 6D2? And final question: where can i buy that blue filter for night photography? Is it so important? Seems very useful to obtain an high quality night photo.
Alessandro Bonacina canon 6Dmk2 is the biggest flop camera ever I don't even consider it. The older MK1 is better for nightscapes and I compared the two in my review of the A73 on my channel :) the filter helps cut down light pollution from yellow lights, doesn't do anything against LEDs sadly. Not hugely important but helped in this environment :)
Alessandro Bonacina Niente! The name of it is in the title of the video :) Giovanni Corona is the Kase Italia Ambassador, tell him Alyn Wallace UK ambassador sent you
The pano looks like something out of a SiFi film👍 and it’s a scopes owl 🦉 very small and normally found in a tree close to villages where it hunts small rodents

Prasad Shriram many thanks again dude!
Amazing. Wich one do you prefer for astrophotography? Kase Neutral night or the Optolong L-pro?
DO you think it could be set all the time on the sensor to both protect and offer a plus ? or this filter would not be suitable for some conditions ?
Un-f..ing-believable content! Thank you so much for your videos. Going South Tyrol Dolomites in a day sadly its full moon but amazing peaks.
sityak2000 😂thanks a lot! Enjoy the dolomites, though that's not difficult. Nothing wrong with a bit of moonscaping 😊
Great shots! is the pano at the end two rows?
Outstanding shots....stunning location that :)
Awesome astro vlog ! Love it !😁👍🌌
Awesome work as always legend. Thoroughly enjoyed!

If you're shooting wide angle you can kinda replicate it in Lightroom yeah but its not completely the same. The filter reduces the amount of yellow light coming into the camera so you do get more contrast in the night sky. They work a lot better for longer focal lengths though like 50mm up, then you simply can't replicate the effect
do you know any clip in filters for the sony A7 series?
Astronomik makes clip-filters for Canon and Sony... :)
TheLordinio thanks Marina :)
thanks but oh wow they cost twice as much as the lens i use for astrophotography so I will definately not look at those until I have a star tracker
Awesome thanks for sharing God bless
Alyn Wallace thank you so much for your quick reply. Where can i buy that filter? What's its name?
Alessandro Bonacina Niente! The name of it is in the title of the video :) Giovanni Corona is the Kase Italia Ambassador, tell him Alyn Wallace UK ambassador sent you
You got my like and subscribe at 11:20 😂🤣😆
great vlog
The pano looks like something out of a SiFi film👍 and it’s a scopes owl 🦉 very small and normally found in a tree close to villages where it hunts small rodents
