    Got my filter a week ago, and I am looking forward to try it out. If only the clouds... !

    Excellent comparison here... Another piece of kit I've been researching as I contemplate moving into a filter-holder system (I saw a similar light pollution filter and was curious to see the comparisons). Well done and thanks!

    Great content as usual! This is something that would be worth me trying as I live in a Bortle 6 area. I see a big difference in your images. Thank you!!

    Are you going to do another video about the Mak 90? The filter works good, but I think i would rather drive to a darker place and just enjoy the experience more. I will be up in Colorado Springs next weekend. Hopefully I can try something out there.

      @@chasingluminance I would like to see it used on the msm and see if the results are worth the price. I just got the mc20 for my Olympus 40-150 2.8. That does make it a 5.6 but the quality is good. Does the mark 90 compare?

    As usual very glad I found your content. I feel so sorry for you, shooting in bortle 6. My backyard is bortle 9. I presently have an astromoded T7i, with astronomik HA internal filter. MSM, and star adventurer GTI. With various lenses as required. What length and ISO do you recommend? I think longer than 1 minute exposures is bad, and high ISO, hmm?

    • @chasingluminance
      @chasingluminance  Рік тому

      That's so hard in a level 9.
      I really don't know, my best advice would be to use your histogram to make sure you have the right exposure

    I have 2 comments. 1) I need 112 mm filters and have contacted Hanna about this. She will forward my input for future consideration so while I wait 2) I would be interested in testing only filtered shots at the same target maybe 10 miles from a bortel 4 shooting towards darker skies, then move maybe 20 or 25 miles away and repeat the same target shot the same way.

      Yeah. It would be good to know how far from light pollution is necessary

    Alex, great video as usual. My question is, can I use this filter in conjunction with a clip on filter such as an Optolong L-pro? Thanks.

    • @chasingluminance
      @chasingluminance  Рік тому

      A clip in behind the lens? I think they would work together

    • @ujjwaldatta6713
      @ujjwaldatta6713 Рік тому

      @@chasingluminance yes. Directly in front of the sensor. Actually, I have a modded Canon RP and I just purchased the clip on L-Pro to use in my Bortle 6 backyard. This didymium filter looks interesting. Maybe it’ll block more of the LP. And you’re saying that MSM has a special that includes the 82mm with all the adapters? It’s priced at $69.99. There’s option of just the 82mm filter alone. It doesn’t say free adapters though unless I missed the boat.

    Great Video Alex! Your Ha data really pops. On competing camera's (Sony, Nikon, Canon, etc.) it seems like you have to have the camera Ha modded to get that kind of Ha pop. Is your Olympus HA modded? If not, do you agree with my assessment that the Olympus seems to be more HA sensitive. I know you have the R5. Have you compared Ha between the two? Thanks for all your videos.

      It is stock. And yes, I agree, Olympus seems to catch more h alpha than other brands

    Great video! When zooming in, do you see a difference in noise?
    From the raw subs it's clear that there's more contrast with the filter on, so does that translate to a better noise-to-signal ratio, i.e. less noise?

    I wonder if this could also be used in combination with an ND filter to photograph glassblowing or if it would need to be a stronger Didymium filter for that?

      @@chasingluminance apparently similar filters are also used in calibration of scientific equipment so there are lots of those out there too. This is probably a good question for the manufacturer.
