You said, "I love it when a plan together". I've always loved the saying, "He who fails to plan, plans to fail". Your peeps are happy that you executed the plan so well. Staggering beautiful shots.
One thing I especially love about your videos is the places you go for your shots. I wish I was brave enough to hike and find really cool spots like this and just vibe in the forests at night, watching you do it in your vids just brings a lot of joy! Amazing shots today too!
Looks like the stay at home order ends here on the 2nd of April. Hope for clear skies to head for the local dark sky park for a few nights in my camper.
Photopills is amazing! I planned a shot (my very first) of the Milky Way with Mont-Saint-Michel (France) as foreground last August. Got the dates down, location, focal length, position of the I wanted to use...everything with that app. And then the day dawned with rain. I had choices for 3 nights and we got wrecked in all three. Had planned a picnic and all :( Some day I'll do it!
Excellent results Alyn, really love how you do the time to capture the image, I also spend hours outside rather than been disconnected night by been indoors while camera is working, also looks like you captured some nice Bioluminescence too.
The joys of a nightscape plan coming together, up all night sleep all day. I'm looking forward to do a 360 one with new Sony 50mm F1.2 some time in June-July.
The Astro Mod on your camera makes a big difference in the Milky Way shot. Sent my Nikon D810 out for an Astro Mod a week or so ago. Can't wait to try it out.
Loved the video. I'm preparing for astrophotography season or better preparing for some serious astrophotography this year. Combined Landscape Astro and Deep Sky from my backyard. Can't wait for it and this video gives me a real push for doing it. thanks alyn for being around for so many years and make such incredible videos. Cheers from Austria
I just got the PP app recently (laughs at PP). It's helped me grab some shots of the Snow Moon recently. I also used it for the milkyway recently too. Love it!
Thanks for sharing your images and planning guidance. PhotoPills has been very helpful for astro landscape planning and other efforts. Of course, one cannot discount persistence and practice. And good luck. Although recent weather patterns were mixed, I went out to the eastern California desert to take my chances. Even though I experienced wind, rain and snow on the trip, the night skies opened up every evening and the pre-planning paid off! Thanks again for the inspiration.
Beautiful shots and great presentation, as always. Totally unrelated to the technical aspects of getting the shot I just want to ask if you ever get nervous out there in the dark? Do you check to see what kind of wildlife you might encounter before heading out? Don't want to sound like your parent but do you recommend going with a buddy?
Hi A, Great content as usual. I'm travelling to Namibia this week and I've just seen that it's the worst two weeks that I could've chosen due to the moon phases and they have a two hour window with no moon on the 24th of September to get a nice Milky Way shop fingers crossed. I can't find any content suggests methods or techniques for photographing, the Milky Way or stars in general when you have a generous amount of Moonlight in the sky. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do have your book but it's a little bit cumbersome to bring with me on her Intercontinental journey.:-))
Hi Alyn, I love your videos which they inspire me so much. I'm struggling understanding how you did the panorama with the tracker. Do you just turn the head where the camera is mounted?
Are you returning to South Wales or have you moved to Turkey to stay. Love your work, Astrovlogs and monthly WITNS and contests. Best regards to you and your family.
I have a question on timelapse with milky way, not sure if you can answer it. I friend gave me a MOVO MTP 11. Can this be used to track the milky way across the sky. I'm not sure of the time setting the milky way moves at ? is it possible to use something like this ?
for shooting these milkyway is it picture of long exposure (5 sec) stacked or is it a very long exposure shots(300 sec) i still didnt get the difference. but i do know for star trails its long exposure (can be of 30 secs shutter speed) images are stacked
Great images Alyn, well planed 👍👍 Maybe a dumb question, but which headlamp are you using ? I want to get me a new one but can't find one with a descent red light
Dude you are so dedicated to that final image, some what crazy but it is impressive. Just go careful man, I don't want to see you in a news report one day about a photographer falling over a cliff edge. Really enjoy your channel some cool work and great information.
Outstanding!! Why worry about the moon, on the 8th to 10th just a sliver of a crescent - yes looks like a full moon with long exposure. Looking at your setup on top of the MSM just a ball and no nodal slider (Superb Skill)! I know it is 24mm not 12mm and nothing close, but on the 12th and 13th I did a bunch of 180's on a beach and the bow at the bottom in the center even at 20mm, I try to work it out every time. I use the Novoflex VR-system Slim on top. How do you overcome the bow in the center of your 180 degrees with just a ball head? Thanks so much for the EXIF info and magnificent final images (quick play).
Hi Alyn, did you use in-camera long exposure noise reduction for your tracked and stacked sky images of your vertorama or how did you get rid of the hot pixels? Last time I tried to shoot the milky way with a star tracker and 4 mins exposure time I got tons of hot pixels when not using lenr. Didn't try combining tracking and stacking yet, but I'd like to do this next and I'm not sure if lenr is a good idea because of the longer waiting time between the shots..
Now if you can do something about the smoke and clouds every day, I can try again. I got lucky the same night you were at Mono, my last night . Terrible conditions ever since that night.
Hey Allyn loved the shots. I am pretty new to astrophotography have a very simple set up (a Nikon D7000, Nikon 35mm f/1.8 lens and a usable tripod). I've gotten some nice photo's so far. Do you have any suggestions or advice for me. Also any interesting objects to photograph (I live in the Southern Hemisphere)
I've semi permanently moved here so not much point having camping gear when I have a home an hour away 😅 but maybe soon I'll start going further afield and camping. Just waiting for the pandemic to calm down
I'm thinking of getting the Sony A7III. What are your thoughts on that camera? I'm honestly stuck between that one and the A7RIII. Please. Anyone... I need help. I've been dreaming of getting into photography, and astrophotography mainly. I need your experience and opinions.
That last picture (panorama). You said 3 rows with 7 columns. Do you mean you took 3 overlapping shots with each segment consisting out of 7 images? Regards, and a great video!
Really nice ideas presented here. It was your review which convinced me to buy the MSM Sky Tracker last year. Two questions though: 1. Is your camera is only Ha/SII modded, or full spectrum? 2. Are there any plans to restock the starglow filter?
Always difficult to catch them so I never really share. Around here there are wild boars, goats, processionary caterpillars which are toxic, porcupines and I also saw a badger. Not to mention owls bats and birds
You didn't have much faith that your panorama was going to be that good ... and it wasn't good. It was actually incredible. Good would have been an understatement.
Rest in Peace, may you always have clear skies.
I wish I was there! Fantastic photos my friend 😍

Something about that intro music. I know its gonna be a good day.
What a productive night! The pictures look amazing.
Fantastic work Alyn, those images were simply stunning and again you demonstrate you are one of the best out there when it comes to astro images
Wow!! Fantastic images!
!Superb landscape and look at that sky! You really did make the right decision Alyn! Great images!
i frickin love this channel
Super grateful for all of this information! I’ve never been closer to making the leap and getting started.

Like you finally meet with your girlfriend after 6 months, Milky way i miss you so much! Thank you Alyn!
😂
Absolutely stunning Alyn, what a true professional you are, your so so inspiring. You certainly live on the edge.🤣🤣.
So look forward to your videos.

Wonderful photos Alyn! Can't wait to shoot the milky way again as well!
This popped up in my feed today and I had to watch it. Felt like I was walking on hallowed ground. I miss you, Alyn 😢
Beauty Alyn that MW shot. Cheers again for a really interesting vlog
I'm so jealous, because of curfew I can't leave home after 9pm and I'm beginning to get withdrawal symptoms. As usual excellent video and images.
Alyn, always enjoy your obvious talent and dedication for sure. Excellent shot!

GORGIOUS TIME LAPSE AND PHOTOGRAPHS IN GENERAL , WELL DONE BUDY !!
Honestly my biggest inspiration for Astro photography! I hope one day I can be a quarter as skilled as you Alyn!
Another superb milkway capture ...stunning 👏👏👏
Wowwwww Espectacular @Alyn 🤩👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💯 Me encanta tu trabajo !!!

Alyn, you are such an inspiration, but well beyond my league. Thank you for the video.

Modern cameras are amazing!
Wonderfull photos ! 😍😍
Great pictures. Hopefully one night I might be able to get some good ones. Can I ask, what headlamp you use?
Sweaty palms on these precarious rocks! XD Great video dude!
Amazing videos and very informative Alyn! Keep up the great work! 💫🌌👌

Top man 👍
Fantastic work and georgeus shots! 👍 It's insane!
That was beautiful!!! 😄
I just wanted to say thank you for everything you do!
Nice video Alyn I managed a lapse of some remote Aussie bush week or so back. Like you say knowing the area is important. 👍Great video as always.
I shall be using this brilliant App when I visit South Wales at Whitsun.
Beautiful Alyn! I only miss the modified body!
Fantastic bro!🌌📷
Awesome images. 👌👌
Great two vids again and sometimes i would to see how you edit those panorama shots

I find it scary being out in pitch black darkness, and every little sound freaks me out, lol. I much prefer being out with someone else!
Brilliant!

Hey Alyn, what is that small microphone on your chest? I own a Sony a7iii, and I looking for a small Bluetooth microphone for it
Incredible, inspirational work.
Great job man 👌

Nice. Do you ever use the Kase light pollution filter for milky way shots in dark areas. Looks like there was some pollution in the early star shot.
Loving it bro🇬🇾🇬🇾
Great video. Can you make a video on start to finish on how to edit the last picture
I would like to see this also please Alyn, if possible.
for shooting these milkyway is it picture of long exposure (5 sec) stacked or is it a very long exposure shots(300 sec) i still didnt get the difference.

Alyn, do you carry extra batteries or do you use an external powerbank for these night-long outings?
What was the name of the star tracker you were using?
Now if you can do something about the smoke and clouds every day, I can try again. I got lucky the same night you were at Mono, my last night . Terrible conditions ever since that night.
AMAZING AMAZING!!!!!
awesome stuff. Actually would be nice to get a how to panorama with the tracker. It seems more confusing in my mind :P
That's a good idea. But if I do night hiking here in Australia, i'll be mangled by drop bears.
That's bloody amazing mate 👏👏👏
What would be your number 1 tip for shooting milky way without a tracker??
Hey Allyn loved the shots. I am pretty new to astrophotography have a very simple set up (a Nikon D7000, Nikon 35mm f/1.8 lens and a usable tripod). I've gotten some nice photo's so far. Some pretty nice shots. Sounds like you're in need of some camping gear though, to avoid so much added expense and travel.
I've semi permanently moved here so not much point having camping gear when I have a home an hour away 😅 but maybe soon I'll start going further afield and camping. Just waiting for the pandemic to calm down
Awesome video, love all your stuff! Quick question, why do you stop down the 24 mm that much? Especially for the sky shots, where DOF is not an issue.
lenses are sharper in the corners when slightly stopped down
My local Kase distributor says the StarGlow filter is called the Dream filter. Are they the same thing?
Just opened UA-cam to find this!
Same!

Milky way galaxy is the Backbone of Night Sky.

How dose this app compare to Photopill ???
Wow! Great video!
hard work hard work thanks for your hard work sir Love from 1.4 billion indians , my fav youtube channel

I wonder how many wild animals/creatures you come along when you trek these mountains. Would love to see some of your thrilling wildlife encounters.😅
Always difficult to catch them so I never really share. Around here there are wild boars, goats, processionary caterpillars which are toxic, porcupines and I also saw a badger. Not to mention owls bats and birds
@@AlynWallace Right. Better to leave them undisturbed.🙂🤗
What is the Milky Way like with your naked eye is it as bright and colourful as in photos
Was that luminescence in the bay Alyn? Cheers and cracking shits as always :)
I use The Photophills App For imaging The Milky way, Its a Great App !! Brilliant Video 👏🔭🌙
Thanks so much!!
