Can confirm! I’ve been watching for over ten years and I did the Daytona tri oval race a few weeks ago. Starting near the back, I was able to bump draft my way to the front pack before typical chaos ensued. Pleasantly surprised at how the physics were accurate to what I’ve seen in nascar. It left me wanting more 😫
On qualifying, you have to do a prep lap where you come off the outside lane onto the front stretch to maximize your speed on the start of the Q lap then stay on the inside. That'll get u in the 50.6s In the race, stay 2nd until the last lap then in turn one try to back off so maximize draft speed on the back stretch...then you can pass
It's not ambient temperature. You can gain Speed by putting 2 wheels on apron and 2 wheels on the track. It gives a slight boost..... in some areas of the track
To win this race you have to form a small breakaway group of 2 or 3 and do as much bump drafting with them in the opening laps to create a gap behind you. Then odds are easier, keep bumping. On the last lap make sure you are still behind, let up throttle if you have to. You don't have to lead all race, you only have to lead at the end
Creating a breakaway group isn't something you can simply just do. Even if you bump and work together in a group to get away, the group behind can still catch if they work together. In the 12 races I did, breakaway groups rarely happened except for when there was a huge crash (which is different than from bump drafting)
Part of superspeedway racing is knowing when to back out of fishy situations, superspeedways do take a lot of luck, but also a lot of patience and know-how
I agree there's something with conditions that isn't stated that affects qualifying times. I noticed sometimes I'd easily hit 177 MPH on the back straight, and other sessions no matter what I did I couldn't.
“The car physics are very very light” Also remember!! You’re driving gr3 cars with tons of downforce. superspeedway qualifying tip in NASCAR: ride up against the wall until your fast lap, then drop to the bottom coming to the line. Sometimes when exiting the corners, drifting halfway up the track at corner exit helps gain momentum down the straights by using the banking to get a little bit of a downhill run

American oval man here. Run the top lane on the warmup lap to generate a little extra momentum then the bottom for your timed lap to get the best possible time in Q. You’re welcome!

@@bbuttons7941 Pretty much...but you stay inside the turn until you can point it out to the straights or when the banking becomes shallow (on which you should already be going out of the turn)

You should really do the class a race this week on maggiore with the comfort tires. Unfortunately GT doesn’t allow for controller users to turn off traction control as it’s rally cars on pavement unless you do a qualifying lap. Then it’s automatically off. These bugs kill the game.
It’s more than the bugs…. This is the first GT game I haven’t bought since the first and there are multiple reasons why. These videos are entertaining to watch but I’ve zero desire to spend time and money experiencing it myself……
There's one rule in superspeedway races; never bump draft the left rear when in the corner. The left rear tire has the least amount of grip in the corner so even the slightest bump on that side can break traction. Bumping the right corner on the turn can actually stabilize the car in front as long as the car behind isn't sliding back and forth a lot. At one point in nascar, due to the rules package, teams figured out that the fastest way around the track was for two cars to stay locked together the entire lap and then after a few laps they would have to do a little dance to swap places because the pushing car would start to overheat. For all the international folks that think oval drivers aren't as good as road course drivers should watch some of those races. I mean it takes a hell of a lot of skill to push another car around the track at 190-200 mph while trying to pass other cars doing the same thing and then swapping who's pushing as quickly and cleanly as possible to keep from losing too much momentum.

Running 3 abreast and nose to tail. But hey getting to meet my biggest fan barryR at over 200 mph is fun too. Great video SuperGT Give Indy a try for us sometime too.
How it works in real life, when the car behind gets close enough to the car ahead, the venturi effect from under the car becomes incomplete in a sense. The air that is supposed to be shot out the back from underneath winds up not having a place to escape creating a pool of air under the rear bumper of the front car and under the front of the following car. Generating lift. So with an already low drag/downforce setup as Daytona should be run, the back end gets pushed up = less rear grip.
I LOVED the oval racing. Got like 5 wins, including my 50th race/platinum trophy race. The penalty stuff was pretty bad tho...I got run off into the pits by someone else then I got a 3 second penalty.
Steve. This video has given me second hand rage quit. I was watching this video in bed and it made me so mad, I manoeuvred out of the comfort of said bed. Over to my setup. Turned my PS5 on. Booted up GT7… just to turn it straight back off again. Well done Steve.
Maybe in order to be the GOAT in every other way, Scott Speed had to surrender his ability on ovals? Or perhaps this was a show of humility; he knows he's the best, doesn't need to prove it to himself, and was letting other people have some glory. Truly a man of chivalry

Great video SuperGT
Give Indy a try for us sometime too.
Love you Super GT!
those races were total carnage. There are some guys who think that driving and diving are the same thing
At 12:50 if you look on the radar someone dies on track
13:52 Check out the paranormal activity on the radar there 🤣
How it works in real life, when the car behind gets close enough to the car ahead, the venturi effect from under the car becomes incomplete in a sense. The air that is supposed to be shot out the back from underneath winds up not having a place to escape creating a pool of air under the rear bumper of the front car and under the front of the following car. Generating lift. So with an already low drag/downforce setup as Daytona should be run, the back end gets pushed up = less rear grip.
A single tear dropped for my eye down my cheek :(
Thanks for fixing the quality bug Steve!
😂😂, not sure if this was meant to be comedy but I laugh throughout the video, amazing 😂
Wow. GT has oval tracks & rolling starts. Kudos.
I LOVED the oval racing. Got like 5 wins, including my 50th race/platinum trophy race. The penalty stuff was pretty bad tho...I got run off into the pits by someone else then I got a 3 second penalty.
can wait to see your vid on the even more crazy Daily race A from this week. Hope your arms feeling better mate
This video gave me PTSD flashbacks to the NASCAR event around Daytona back in GT5.
I cried at the end we still believe in you scott speed
Steve. This video has given me second hand rage quit.
I was watching this video in bed and it made me so mad, I manoeuvred out of the comfort of said bed. Over to my setup. Turned my PS5 on. Booted up GT7… just to turn it straight back off again. Well done Steve.
Nice I finally made it into a SuperGT video with a fun win in that 3rd race. Tried showing you Brits with Kie some proper Murican Bump drafting.
About time you uploaded a video... Waited for too long.
ohh thank goodness. he's back everyone!
Maybe in order to be the GOAT in every other way, Scott Speed had to surrender his ability on ovals? Or perhaps this was a show of humility; he knows he's the best, doesn't need to prove it to himself, and was letting other people have some glory. Truly a man of chivalry
Good Racing Scott Speed. I noticed Daytona is located in 'Specified Country' according to the start screen haha. This race was fun for a little bit, I actually got a win. Even though you're DR doesn't count a win still does haha. Also one time I got bumped so hard when my car reset it made me lose a lap because I flew into the pit lane. Anyway it got boring quick. This weeks Race A is lots of crazy fun though.
"Specified Country" meant the cars you can use are from a set country, in this case, American only.
Ahh, well I learn something new every day. Can't blame me for thinking it was yet another GT7 bug though haha.
Hope PD is able to secure some sort of deal with nascar in order to implement the next gen car into gt7 to make things like this more authentic
Wow. I had more cooperation and less blatant PIT manoeuvres in the B rated lobbies... Key for me was to work with P1 all race long, bump drafting, then Scorpion & Frog them on the last lap.
The tragic ending along with the sad music 😂
Getting into the rear quarter panels in NASCAR or being close to then generally spins the leading car
Glad to see Scott Speed doing his thing.
