- Assault Suit Leynos (重装機兵レイノス), better known in the West as Target Earth, is a 1990 run-and-gun shooter developed by Masaya for the Mega Drive. It was followed in 1992 by its prequel, Assault Suits Valken on the Super Famicom and a 1997 Saturn sequel, Assault Suit Leynos 2. The game was remade by Dracue in 2016 for PS4 and PC.

One of the toughest games I've ever completed. Loved the music!
yup. couldn't pass the space stage after rescue mission. Now I see I shouldn't have been too quick to escape before rescuing more so that I could get the armor and more weapons.
Assault suit leynos is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and STUNNINGLY AMAZING
I consider this an all time great MD game. I did complete it as a kid back in the 90's. The key was taking the correct weapons. I always favoured more armour over more weapons and was patient enough to let the suit regenerate before pressing on.
Game was so tough and loved it- couldnt complete last mission. Explosions of blown up ships could really mess you up as well!
If playing on true hardware: Last mission is a stealth infiltration, you must avoid enemy as must as possible and head for the mini boss. Use MPod to defeat miniboss, but conserve enough ammo to fight her again later. Final dungeon is easy if you have mapped it.
Dump you MPod into the second final boss. Avoid contact with the finalboss drones by luring them back into the previous boss room. Then lure the drones to fly through the wall in the passage between the boss rooms. The wall will block the drones fire, and give you free air to attack the final boss. Rinse and repeat.
Recommend loadout: HG Gun and MPod and max armor
It's great to see this version and the PS4 one are quite different, both versions are worth playing.

Wild Lance spotted! Really liking this series, even though this entry is certainly showing its age. Can't wait to see the Saturn and PC updates.
The graphics may look a bit basic, but the game puts a TON of enemies on screen without ever slowing down. It's pretty overwhelming until you learn how to deal with it.
That is true, there weren't many "dead spots" in the action, looking back. Do you know if there were any major changes to Target Earth? (I'd like to follow along with the plot if I play this)
ProDaKah ! There are some minor changes. Your pilot, who is unnamed in the original Japanese, is called Rex in the English version. The bad guys are given the name Chron. The romance between you and the communications officer is removed. 'And the friendly unit who burns up in the atmosphere is entirely removed from the game.
They're not horrible changes, but I still wanted to show the game uncensored. You'll get a pretty good idea of what the original plot is when you watch my next video on the remake. It covers pretty much everything in the original, plus adds a few elements from all the other Assault Suit games (Valken 2 especially).
Was there no way to save zosaly in mission 3 on the original Mega Drive version?
i remember another weapon of the final boss... he haven't use it here.
