- Assault Suits Valken (重装機兵ヴァルケン) is a 1992 run-and-gun shooter developed by Masaya for the Super Famicom. It is a prequel to Assault Suit Leynos (Target Earth) on the Mega Drive.

I been playing Cybernator for SNES, this game’s so great.
Amazing game and a fantastic soundtrack
(20:22) Niiice moves; you really had me for a second there. Love games that give you a shield that's actually useful! Really enjoyed the old school SDF vibe this playthru gave me. Between this and Langrisser, Masaya/NCS made some good stuff back in the day that snuck right by me... now to continue making up for lost time!
Speaking of Langrisser, Lance (Rance) serves as your chief rival in the original Leynos, though he has red hair in that game. Look for him in next week's video. :)

Excellent game back in the 90s for a home console. I've spent lots of time playing this and r type 3 on snes. Your video reminds me of those hay days.
I heard of this not too long ago. If you don't kill any enemies and just defeat the boss on the first level, you'd get awarded with the Napalm Gun. That'll come in handy later!
I dunno about you, but I'm really happy they decided to remake this game. The gameplay trailer looks so amazing.
Dracue remade Leynos (Target Earth), not this game. Though I expect they probably worked some stuff from both Valken and Leynos 2 into it.
From what I saw, at least the first 2 levels are in it.
***** I bought the game on Steam when it came out, but I haven't gotten around to playing/recording it yet. Kinda got sidetracked by Valken 2, which I'm not planning on recording but still want to complete.
If memory serves me right, this game was indeed remade for the PS2 in Japan.
awesome game... first stage dont shoot anything just go to boss and only kill boss to get napalm gun = game won
...and kill only the second boss to allow said Napalm to power up (iirc)!!

snowdreike Mobile Suit Gundam and Armored Trooper Votoms were the inspiration for the Assault Suit games. No idea about Metal Warriors though. shmuplations.com/assaultsuitsvalken/

I only have the Cybernator version of this game. Do you know where I download this version with the English patch?

The fan patch completely omits that scene for some reason. I had to replay the untranslated Japanese version to get it, and then edit it into this video.
I can't tell you exactly what it says, but it's supposedly a communique from a resource-gathering expeditionary force. They're requesting help from Earth, but the transmission is garbled and the planet is so messed up from World War IV (the events of Valken) that their plea goes unanswered. Ten years later in Assault Suit Leynos, that survivors of the expeditionary force return to Earth as bitter invaders. Believing that Earth had abandoned them, they now want revenge.
To sum it all up, it's what establishes a connection between Valken and Leynos. Valken is a prequel.

It's from your future enemies in Leynos. They're trying to request help from Earth, but the transmission is garbled, and it kind of just gets lost in the chaotic aftermath of World War IV.
