Stückinfo: Chariots of Fire ist ein Instrumental von Vangelis aus dem Jahr 1981, das von ihm selbst komponiert wurde und Soundtrack des Filmes Die Stunde des Siegers ist. Das Instrumental zeichnet sich durch seinen markant langsamen Rhythmus aus. Die Veröffentlichung war am 31. März 1981, die CD-Single des Instrumentals erschien 1989. Seit der Veröffentlichung wird das Stück von vielen verschiedenen Fernseh-programmen und Sportveranstaltungen genutzt. Vangelis wurde beschuldigt, sich für die Komposition des Stücks am Lied City of Violets von Stavros Logaridis bedient zu haben. Dies konnte vor Gericht widerlegt werden. Vangelis konnte davon über-zeugen, den besagten Titel nicht gehört zu haben, ehe er Chariots of Fire kompo-nierte. Eindeutige Gemeinsamkeiten der beiden Lieder waren nicht zu hören.

Piece info: Chariots of Fire is an instrumental by Vangelis from 1981, which he composed himself and is the soundtrack to the film The Hour of Victory. The instrumental is characterised by its strikingly slow rhythm. It was released on 31 March 1981 and the CD single of the instrumental was released in 1989. Since its release, the piece has been used by many different television programmes and sporting events. Vangelis was accused of having used the song City of Violets by Stavros Logaridis for the composition of the piece. This was refuted in court. Vangelis was able to convince the court that he had not heard the song in question before composing Chariots of Fire. There were no clear similarities between the two songs.
