Does anyone else have a knob that's hard to turn? For me the dryer knob (the big one) is super hard to switch. It's like stuck or something and there's no clicks with each setting. Is that normal or is it broken? The washer big knob clicks very smooth and I can hear each click.
Mine is easy to turn
So we just got ours today, and yeah, it's hard to turn compared to the washer
@@MisterRandom35 is that normal? just got mine today?...and what way do you turn it left or right?
does your dryer still feel stiff when turning that big knob? is that normal? and what way do you turn it?
I have the exact same problem.
Not sure , but your setting looks like it is on delicates? Looks like few heavy items ( towels)? I have this same dryer since bought in April 2016. I liked features, sharp looking and about $600. It has had 10 repair Men visits in 17 months. Most of the last 5 months was waiting 2-2-1/2 wks ea, for repairmen to be available. The unit was two days old , noticed top dented & dryer made an odd "grabbing noise". Told " dryer on glides" they replaced the top. Should have been my omen! Over 14 months old, I noticed clothes to hot to fold, and the dryer outside is really hot. Don't know how long it had been going on but happened to be ready to fold clothes that day. Followed instruction book, vacuumed inside/ out. Unplugged unit, rebooted. Called Customer service for GE they had us reboot, repairman couldn't come for 3 weeks .So I called the store in Vanport that I bought dryer from and they sent their repairman. Wait time was 2 weeks . I was told by the appliance stores reliable parts man when I explain what issue was he said that it was probably a thermostat issue , would order one and for me to call few days when part arrived. When repairman came upon opening the dryer he said that "General Electric their vent had come apart at the seams". He went across the street got some aluminum tape came back taped the vent and charged me $90 and I tip him. Stupid me. He left and I used to dryer the next day and the same issue clothes to hot to fold. I called General Electric and they sent their repairman 2 weeks later. My son greeted him. He opened front of dryer ( that my son had heated dryer after repairman confirmed on his way ), and said "there's nothing wrong , this is how the dryer supposed to work gets 290 + degrees . He left basically saying that the dryer was fine, . After work I tried load of clothes. No way, I am old, have never had clothes smell like they are baking. Too hot to hold, & dryer hot!!! I called GE customer service , again explained issues ( now timer not working since last guy). They sent 2 wks later a different GE repairman. The smart, conscience, good one. He opened the top . In seconds stated "definitely not working right". Explained, some kind of fault system that would shut the dryer off if overheated". Apparently that didn't work?) He ordered thermostate, & other parts. I had him order new vent also. That 1 st guy aluminum taped. He said "call when parts arrive ,he would fix". Upon calling General Electric after the parts arrived and sat in my kitchen for two weeks . I asked them to send the same good repairman They sent the guy who claimed that there was nothing wrong then my son said whole time the guy was here he complained on the phone to his friend that he couldn't go party cuz he had to work . Well if it had fixed the dryer a month ago he wouldn't had to come back and we didn't really want his lazy butt anyhow. Forgot, day this jackass was to arrive for his 1 st visit ,he called in sick, came next day. No problem, people get sick. Second visit to fix it with the new parts. He called & asked if he was scheduled today or tomorrow? Guess this was why he was mad he couldn't party? Because he had already cancelled on us once before . GE you really should look into who you are paying. The dryer seems to work now. ( Except ,he broke the light, he was to order new bulb, showed son how to fix it ). Well, i had to email GE who happened to be aware of all these issues and crap that we were going through to see if the guy had ordered the bulb apparently he didn't so the customer service girl ordered it. When the bulb arrived we put it in and the dryer light now doesn't work (surprised not at all😣) . Will get GE when off work again. Moral of this , from all the time my son and I missed work we could have bought a new damn dryer. 14/15 month old dryer should last longer. My last dryer ( not GE) last 16 years. So disappointing. I advised GE, that I had reviewed dryer for them the first month, that I would review again after this nightmare with them. They had 6 months now to reach out. Not an apology, for frustrations, not an offer to pay some missed work time, gift certificate , or new dryer.( yea, I know , kidding )! Oops ,except when son called after 1st visit of GE guy and his nonsense, the customer service rep/ man offered new dryer at a percentage off and a cost of $ 100 to have them set it up. Hahahaha.
kathy roberts I am going to return my new ge dryer to bestbuy now and thanks for your comment.
Thanks for watching
I found parts came off it i don't where it's go
Just installing this one tonight. Did the main selection knob feel really stiff at first? It seems really tight and don’t want to break it. Also should it only be turned in one direction? The instructions don’t speak of how to operate the knob. My old one you had to push and turn. Thanks
This is my issue now I’m scared to turn the knob don’t wanna break it
It should easily turn
I just bought this dryer, but I'm having a hard time installing the power cord. Wish there was a video instead of reading the manual.
I currently do not have a video that shows how to do this
@@HomeOwnerRepair what’s the buzzer sound like this dryer goes off
Did some research and found out that GE appliances are made in the USA but the owner is in China that operates under the name of Haier since 2016.
Thanks for the feedback.
Just have this electric dryer last Saturday, the knot doesn't move as timer when set at "more dry" and "optimum dry" ( drum is spinning and work ).
For yr information , the knot moves as timer when we set the mode to "less dry "
Worry there is something wrong at the knot sensor . Is this happen to you too ? Or it is normal ?
Thank you for watching our video. Mine didn't have this problem.
Hi, We just had this one delivered today and it has a rushing air noise on it that we have not had on any other dryer. Sounds almost like the sound of it rubbing against the bracket. We were going to return it until we heard your video and I think I hear it in your video but not sure. If it is normal that would be helpful to know. Can you tell me if you hear that sound and also if you still have the dryer now and how long it lasted plus if you have had to service it a lot? Thanks.
You may want to have it looked at.
I have same one but not realy dry good I put it on 80 mints
Me too! I'm fed up with this dryer.
Seem as if the dryer doesn't get hot enough. Not happy with my dryer
Thanks for watching our dryer review video.
Hi, I just got mine like two months ago, the only problem is that the dial does move, the clothes dry but the dial doesn’t move. If it’s set on time dry it moves but when on optimum dry, it just doesn’t move, I would time it myself and then take out the clothes, is that normal?
Thanks for watching this video.
No this vid didn’t help
Thanks for watching, sorry this video didn't help you out.
I just bought the same dryer yesterday and didn't work. First I bought a Samsung didn't work and the ge is the second brand new dryer and didn't work too. Already checked the electric outlet and it gives me 220 volts, checked the wires the go connected to the dryer and it gives me 220 bolts too. I can't believe two brand new dryers didn't work. The only way I made it work is opening the door then pushing the door switch with the finger and had somebody else push the star, then I manually turned the tumble with my hand. That's the only way I made it turn. Doing it the normal way it just makes a humming noise.
we have had ours for a year and so far so good
Having to manually turn it to start sounds like a bad motor. I know folks who build things with old AC/etc motors and some don't have the cranking power to get things started, but once you give it a heave with your hand, the motor can keep it going. Hard to believe the luck on two different brands in a row doing that to you!!
I've had this drive for about almost three years now the temperature does not get hot. My dryer ran for over 2 hours and my clothing still. I have never in my life had to run at drive for more than 40 minutes no matter what was in it. My old dryer got my clothing so hot that I have to take him out with mittens on the average time I used all my old Kenmore dryer was 30 minutes but this dryer dries nothing less than an hour... Energy waster. My gas bill doubbbbled
Also make sure that the link trap and also the pipe in back of the dryer are not clogged with lint as this can prevent the clothes from drying in a timely manner too. Hope this helps you out.
Hey how’s the dryer doing still good?
Yeah, It has been fine we still have it and use it every day
I love mine I had it for years
I just bought this model as well. When I ran my hand across the top I thought I felt some type of indent. Have you felt the same thing? I went back to the Lowes and felt/saw the same thing. I am starting to think its how it was manufactured and not something that happened during delivery.
Yeah mine had one too I believe.
Not made in USA. The timer is very hard to turn, and gets harder to turn the longer you use it. Not for people with old hands.
Just tossed ours and bought a new washer and dryer.
I have a question .. I have the same one .. but it’s electric right ? It’s not Gas… doesn’t heat at all…
I had the electric dryer too. Worked fine
how do you get the top off this damn thing to change the belt
We currently do not have a video on this particular repair.
Does anyone know how to change door switch on this type of dryers
We currently do not have a video on this particular repair.
*how do i put the lint tray back in all the way? I cleaned it now i cant, It's like it's jammed and I can't make it fully go down*
There might be lint stuck down inside of the housing for the lint trap screen preventing it from seating properly.
Get your vacuum cleaner and put it as close as you can suck up all the link
We bought ours a year ago, after Harvey. We've had trouble with it in the first 6months. Now a year later, right after a YEAR, it don't work at all.

Hello I was just wondering I got the combo washer and dryer
The washer makes the noises Eve time you switch the settings and it’s easy to turn
But the drying makes no noise and the main setting knob that lets you choose the time and stuff it is a little more stuff and makes no noise
I saw that when you were setting it didn’t make noise either but I was wondering if it was Also a little atiff
Mine didn't make any noise.
Nice
Thanks for watching.
Can you do video about end of cycle signal goes off this dryer
I will keep this request in mind
the big middle button on this dryer has broken twice in a very short period of time, anyone knows how to fix it?
Thanks for watching
Just pop it off
I have a question I have the same like you do but mine it won't start and then when it did start it didn't heat up
You may want to have someone take a look at it. I didn't have this problem with ours.
Why you not show the buzzer goes off
It is pretty loud I can hear it upstairs.
Is Hotpoint made by GE or is GE made by Hotpoint? Home Depot has a Hotpoint that is less than the GE. I have to see the specs on the Hotpoint to see what features it's got.
I think Hotpoint is owned by GE
Thank you for the reply.
Is that dryer on a dbl 30 amp breaker or dbl 15?
You should have a licensed electrician take a look at your electrical panel and recommend what to get for a breaker switch.
Is GE designed and made in the USA?
Thanks for watching.
Can you set it so it dose not tumble?
I am not sure there may be a setting for this.
Is it gas or electric
It’s electric
Does your drum spin counter clockwise? Mine does.
I am not sure never really watched it
????
