ABSOLUTELY the BEST disassembly instructions I've seen online for this model of dryer. This video stays with just the most important aspects of disassembly. Up until now, all others I've watched have delved into the minutia of this dryer and much of it is a complete waste of valuable time. THANK YOU VUGAMI!!!
I simply wanted to see how to get inside it so i could vacuum it out, and this video surely did that!! WoooooHooooo! Thanks so much on an awesome video!!
Glad it was helpful! When I look for instructions on UA-cam I just want the facts without the drama but apparently some people like drama and are negative about this video :-)
Thanks so much for the video! I had a drawstring stuck from sweatpants as soon as I got the front off of the dryer the drawstring fell out. I had a little bit of a hard time matching the front to get it back together, but it’s on now and I’m back to drying clothes! Thanks again!
Are we all having the same problem with this dryer? Just had it happen for the third time and I was so fed up that I opened up the dryer. Wish I watched the video first 😅
Thanks for your tutorial. Our dryer has been squeaking for a couple of weeks now and for months it was giving out a really foul smell. We took it apart like on your video. Sorry to say we found our missing cat Mugsy within the dryer, we thought he ran away. What a mess. I was able to fix the squeaking though, works great thanks!
The way that I look at it, by the time the repairman has wasted the time that you have to take off from work, the price they charge for just showing up, and the outrageous price for repair, that usually add up to over $500
Great video and super helpful. I think the issue with my GE GTD42EASJWW dryer is the fuse is blown but i have no clue where the fuse is. Any advise, the manual shows it but I cannot find it when I take it all apart. Thanks.
I have not fixed this problem on this dryer so I don't know but it could be the high limit thermostat (thermal fuse), too. Here's a link to a picture: external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse3.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.SuszN1nAVCPXZlP19iiGbgAAAA%26pid%3DApi&f=1&ipt=9da446f67b33d067a3caa8410500683d7bce71b69bcca9c1f76049d84efecead&ipo=images
You should make a video that shows how to change the rear venting into a side venting machine. I couldn't find a video on how to do that and it is probably a very common problem with new machines.
Is it possible to remove just the lint trap panel? Not the removal filter but the panel that houses that filter. My vacuum hose can’t reach all the way down into it but would be fine if I could remove just that panel. Hoping to avoid taking apart the whole dryer if possible. Have not found ANY videos showing that process for this model.
Thank you for the video it easier than old model i thought it difficult but where the fuse and thermostat that we change in old model can yo show as where it located i think it near to motor but can you make video for that i now there is few thing change in dryer thermostat , belt , motor , bearing and timer
I only make videos when I need to fix something. My dryer thermostat is doing fine so I am not opening up the dryer again. However, I found a video of someone who did. It's a terrible video but it looks like the thermostat and fuse are in the back of the dryer so you will have to take the drum out to reach it: ua-cam.com/video/zEPMC6JoWhU/v-deo.html Good luck
@@vugami8063 0:50 that silver cover on the lower left side of the screen if you pause on the back side of the dryer does that come off?? I need at least 26 3/4” wondering if this will fit :/ thanks in advanced
@@EseMorro610 That small silver piece will come off. But there's a larger metal backing below it that covers everything that projects out just as far. Plus there's the vent that will project out. Also, I do not recommend this or any GE dryer because the design will cause black marks in thin materials like pillow cases and sheets. See my other video on this: ua-cam.com/video/pL2Rqqkjif0/v-deo.html In fact, I am trying to get a new dryer because there is not a way to fix this design flaw
For those not as experienced with taking apart dryers, like me, this video is correct. Take a deep breathe. I didn't have a hex screwdriver but 1/4 drive or rachet worked for the hex screws. This is also a good resource for putting the door back on. ua-cam.com/video/zQPqyvHFsuI/v-deo.html Edit: a year later. The second cord was more difficult to pull apart. I used pliers to press the tab inward and then pull straight down so the two pieces disconnect.

That's exactly what I was thinking; he did what I was searching for, which was how to open up my dryer. This was done perfectly!

Thank you for making this video. It’s a big help.
I had a drawstring aglet get stuck and was making an awful grinding sound against the drum. Thanks to this video I was easily able to get it out.
How did yo do it?!? I have the exact same problem!!!
@@Kharkovkid I just took the dryer apart just like he did in this video. Pretty easy actually.

Where is the thermostat fuse on it?

Thanks 💯
How many bearings are in the front panel? Mine is making a squeaky sound and I would like to fix it. Thank you so much for your video.
I think there are 3 or 4. It's been awhile so I am not sure
If you remove the back cover where the vent is at how much is it from front to back in inches??????
From where I had the screwdriver in the back to the front door is about 26 inches

It could be the drum bearing glides that I showed at 3:39
I love how you don't show how to unplug the second wire at the 2:54 mark. It just magically is undone.
