  • This is the cartridge we have MOEN 1225: amzn.to/3bVSAYT
    We noticed on our bathtub faucet that when you put the water to HOT it was cold and when you switched the water to COLD it was hot. We will show you how we switched the hot and cold water on our moen cartridge. Be sure to turn your water off before you begin. It's an old-style Moen cartridge. You do not have to remove the clip or turn the entire cartridge. The only thing you need to do is pull the handle off and turn the handle stem 180° and reinstall the handle.

      I'm so glad you added this note!! You saved me a lot of time & aggravation. Getting the new plate on was difficult when installing the faucet the first time. Changing the faucet so that the proper hot & cold temperatures was a 5 minute job!

    FYI You definitely don't need to turn the water off to rotate the valve 180゚ or take that clip off like you did in the video you can simply just turn it a A 180゚ and put it back together in boom simple fix

    Did it with Moen 1222 B cartridge. Same concept. The tab with the HC marking ended up on the bottom notch after turning it 180 degrees and the cartridge in the ON position. Had to remove the clip to accomplish this. Thanks for the advise.

    I did mine without having to turn off the water or taking off the pin, I removed the handle screw then the escutcheon plate and with a pair of needle nose pliers I turned the cartridge 180°, and viola!

    I have a question I hope you can help !
    Last wk the plumber replaced my worn out 15 yo damaged cartridge . Afterwards I had less water pressure which got worse when turned to hot.
    Ok he came back and fixed it but my water pressure is still weaker than it was with the damaged cartridge.
    I might be able to deal with this but another problem is the level does not turn as far as it should towards the hot water and it doesn’t kick in on cold water until I turn it further towards warm.
    In other words I’m not getting the full spectrum of water temps.
    I’m a renter and I think both maintenance and the plumber have no clue.
    Any suggestions?

    • @BigAl-1
      @BigAl-1 3 роки тому +1

      @Marie. Replacing the cartridge should not have changed the water pressure. I assume the new cartridge is for some reason different than the old cartridge. You might check and see if they turned the water valve on all the way. Please let us know if you found a solution. Thanks for your question.

    • @mariesprowl2348
      @mariesprowl2348 3 роки тому +1

      @@BigAl-1 They ended up also changing the mixing valve which improved the situation. The first plumber had actually put a wrong valve on the water heater as well. I bet you’re correct that they used a different brand cartridge since every repair seems to result in a downgrade of quality . All original items and appliances were top notch but replacement parts always seem inferior.
      Even the downgraded water heater (from 75 gal to 50) seems inadequate for my size unit. Showers turn cool pretty quick even when I haven’t used hot water prior for laundry, dishwasher etc.
      My water pressure is better but not quite as good as it was before the repair even with the old worn out parts, but Atleast I can get a hot bath.
      Imo these private contractors don’t care and just want to get in and out when the have a commercial job vs residential.

    This method will work but is technically incorrect and adds unnecessary steps. The cartridge body itself is symmetrical, so it doesn't actually matter which way it goes in. The only part that needs rotating in a hot/cold reversal like this is the valve stem itself. Simply remove the handle and rotate the valve stem 180 degrees, then replace the handle. No need to shut off the water or remove the clip or rotate the cartage body.

    • @George-fr5ux
      @George-fr5ux 2 роки тому +3

      Agreed! No need to shut the water off or remove the clip as seen here at about 8 minutes in. ua-cam.com/video/ZYv5X0YyBl0/v-deo.html

    • @michaelmcnally1242
      @michaelmcnally1242 3 роки тому

      Btw it is apparently not possible, according to my plumber. The hot and cold feeds are physically reversed because a different plumber screwed up.

    • @BigAl-1
