Disgusting Police attitude, a open and closed case of theft and just cannot be bothered to follow it up. No wonder so many vans are being broken into and tools stolen if there is just no chance of being penalised!
Apart from turning up they appeared to do little else and totally reluctant to even try to arrest anyone. Although Wiltshire Police handled the theft report, on the basis the theft track lead to a private residence in Bristol, Avon and Somerset should have 100% progressed what we considered to be an easy theft arrest opportunity instead of saying its down to the Wilts force. If they had a fingerprint or DNA match with someone residing at that house they would have an arrest and easy evidence to get someone locked away. Theft is a crime, by them not pursuing an arrest opportunity they simply failed to realise they were through non action inviting more future victims to be targeted. Not good.... a very rare opportunity completely missed.

Always enjoy these videos. Just wish they were more frequent. Excellent selling/marketing tool as well! Glad you pushed the police with this one. The speed of which the item was stolen and arrived at the final location should've prompted further investigation and the search for other goods at the property.
You can see why shoplifting is rife when the police have a money value that they deem to be not worth investigating. If a £700 saw isn't worth it, then a backpack full of £200-400 worth of meat, cosmetics, alcohol etc isn't going to get bothered with either. The police didn't seem bothered to check the rest of the property for other stolen items either! What was that second saw? Probably nicked too! Whole house should have been checked for any other potential stolen goods, not just 'oh you've got it back, there you go!'
Nice to see you back again with another video. I’ve discovered in the US, that in some cases while watching live court, I’ve discovered that prosecutors/district attorneys will reduce the charges against someone as a plea deal so they don’t have to prosecute them and spend the money required to do so. Usually an arraignment, the first step in a legal process to prosecute someone usually involves the sum of around US$2000 which is not usually recoverable from the defendant . I would imagine it is a similar amount in the UK. If the individual who’s being charged in the US for a felony, they could ask for a jury trial and that would cost the “state” as much as $10,000 by the time they get around to it and put together a jury. So you can see that lots of times they would rather reduce the charges and drag their feet then they would prosecute someone. In my estimation if someone were prosecuted and found guilty and sentenced for whatever is appropriate, it would make the news and be a deterrent.
The UK police also drag their feet, so that evidence is, for example, expunged from CCTV systems and consequently they can claim there is a lack of evidence.
My bike was stolen outside Tesco, the copper told me to call the council and get the CCTV footage your telling me i have to do their job make it make sense?
Also been in this situation myself, was an endless loop of ask council for cctv, council won’t give cctv to me, but will give it to police, but police don’t want to check it and say it’s down to council
@@VoidDevCo I agree this is what i said to a reply above, am going to call the council and ask a few questions, if that is the case then the UK is finished crime is high and there's no safety, am thinking of moving to another country in a few years time.

Shocking! UK has become a rogue state, stupid, fat and complacent, lost all its marbles. Tax dodging is the best one can do! Live your life and just forget all forms of decency! Did I learn from my panalty? Nope, just the opposit. Drive safe, but forget all government intervention, they are atupid, not for us but just for themselves! Drive wise, but ignore anything blue; timewasters!
You got caught speeding and you’re annoyed because you had to pay the penalty. I understand that you’re annoyed, but that’s unrelated to someone else not being convicted of a totally unrelated crime that required police action. How much time did you save by going 4mph over the speed limit for 100 yards? Or, do you regularly ignore speed limits because you’re a better driver than everyone else? Learn to read speed limit signs and slow down and you’ll be fine. You may also save a life.
Hi tks for your reply. Apart from that my crime, speeding, is unrelated. My rational is not even annoyance, but a governmental misappropriation of a rule to increase income rather than address road safety. Also your reason, speeding to shorten my trip in time has nothing to do with it. Numerous other, justified, reasons for speeding can be mentioned. Law in general is a guidance to keep us all safe and happy. Enforcement of the law shouldn't loose to bigger picture and focus on genuine preventing crime, in my 4mph speeding, a farcical act. To avoid other people dangerous acts, i do speed, better safe than sorry, but playing with others lives is criminal. A free spirit loose from any dictatorship!
Frustrating as the same thieves who will steal a cut off saw will also steal more expensive plant. The cost in damage they make breaking in to a van often runs into thousands.
Yes good point ....we could have mentioned that this type of tool could be used for yet more theft, cutting locks and chains, cutting out the sides of shipping containers or removal of van roofs etc. Bandits don't invest ill gained cash into their tool needs for their trade, they simply collect them up as any tool theft opportunity arises.
This is why crime is increasing Did you hear what the police said? They don't even want to lift their own ass. And you, the Cool Ones Automatrics You work like true professionals 👍
Tracking the theft of tools to a private residence is difficult and surely presents a golden arrest opportunity for those attending police officers. They did turn up in numbers but their effort to fight crime just fizzled out completely. It was a very disappointing police outcome and I guess that disappointment comes out in this operational footage. Thanks for your kind support 👍
Post something on social media and possibly get arrested but Bristol police not even bothered to want to charge someone with handling stolen goods'.and even when this offence took place.
You've only got to watch Police Interceptors on Channel 5 to realize that policing in this country is at a deadend. I saw an episode recently where the police were involved in a chase with a stolen car with 4 people in it when they eventually stopped it it was full of drugs, they couldn't prove the people in the car stole it and none of them owned up to owning the drugs. The driver got a ban for dangerous driving even though he didn't have a license and a small fine, no action was taken in regards to the stolen car or the drugs.
17:15 Serial numbers and post codes should be stamped, punched or engraved into the metal or plastic structure of the tool or vehicle in multiple places, so that removing its identification would cause destruction of the entire tool or vehicle. Removeable ID labels are pointless in the event of theft. Removing stamped ID markings in a short space of time is also difficult to do if the item is tracked down quickly. I use an automatic centre-punch and stamp the post code all over the main most saleable parts on my motorbikes, as well as having a tracker in place. A hand-engraver can also be used, but the engraving is quite shallow. I stamp through a printed template that I stick on internal as well as external parts ... everywhere ... e.g. inside engine covers, carburettors. I put the ID markings in tight places, where it would be difficult to remove them with an angle grinder. If the parts do end up on eBay then the ID markings will be visible in the photos, even if they have been ground out, as the grinding would have to be so deep to get rid of the stamped centre-punch points.

It's an incredible yet easy find. It highlights the massive issue of zero willingness across the entire UK force to take a heavy stance on crime and how they respond. I hear it too often that they don't respond or can be bothered to investigate. They have made themselves too busy arresting persons over people being offended over Facebook posts instead of real crimes that are decimating this country and those trying to run a business. Your technology and systems of recovery are a testament to hard work and faultless electronics This video is well worth the wait Unfortunately i do not fund or support anything the BBC do and nor do i watch tv. The police not really being interested in printing is ridiculous, If they had prints for one of the cretins inside the house on it, they should have the book thrown at them.
If they were clever id have asked about the Stihl blower and any other good stuff in the garage and if they "didn't know anything about them", they could have been recovered too.
The other Stihl blower in the vid should have been investigated at minimum! The police wonder why hard working people are in despair at their indifference to real crime 😡
We conclude with your comment, the total lack of any police willingness to investigate on site further was for us unfathomable.
And yet if you think the wrong thing or say anything they judge to be hate speech you can get prosecuted 😁 madness .
They don't need to finger print, they could literally go after the owners or leasers of the building. For either theft or handling stolen property. Bet they did neither. Country is a joke.
@@adrianhagerty6905 that's the British "justice system" for you.

the second saw should have been checked also.
Also, they should have looked to see if it had the serial number removed too.
Wasn't a saw 😅
It's a back pack blower 😉
@@The-Lone-Racer-30 Ah, that makes sense, no worth checking it out if it wasn't a saw.
They dont care about other stolen goods unless someone is looking for them.
Pathetic police response....wait, nah, I figured this one out...they are more busy catching people posting shit on facebook and twitter. My bad.
Although not directly related to this, a farmer friend of mine had a prowler on her farm at 3am. She called the police, they said they would try to get to her within a couple of hours. She told the police that if they didn’t respond immediately she would shoot the fxxxxr, the police arrived in a van and 2 police cars within 15 minutes. Obviously more concerned for the prowler than a lone woman on her farm.
Of course the police will attend if someone calls making threats that they’re going to shoot someone. And did they revoke the gun license because your friend threatened to shoot someone without cause? Your story is unbelievable.
Why does it matter that they claim not to know anything? It's stolen. It's in their garage. Game over.
@shreddder999 >> Not so quick there, I'm not a supporter of crime but you have to prove intent not just guess. That wrongful prosecution aka the courts get sued = big pay out. As If that door was open what if someone put it there to let cool off not the tenant or owner. Yes we can all guess it was illegal or drug user type that does these things... you could say it was payment for a personal drug fix or fee to get over here. Yep Tory austerity and policing budget cuts.
@@misterzee5736 So that is what they will claim for not doing their job! Interesting!

I find it is getting harder and harder to get people to do their job. Nobody wants to put in any effort and do not realize if they actually concluded a task, they wouldn't have to deal with it again. Instead they just brush it off and try to get someone else to deal with it. Everybody hates a thief.

What a joke of a Police force !!!!!!!! That’s why this country is going to pot !!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a treat to see a new video from you. Much appreciated.
It’s a 4 year old video….
@
No question it’s been posted before but it doesn’t change the facts, all of them, it’s all relevant today 2025.

LOWER TAXES AND BUDGET CUTS
Dunno why this popped up on my youtube feed but I'm glad it did! It would be great if there was updates to some of these encounters to see if anyone was ever charged or arrested.
Shocking! Did 4mph to fast on an empty road, leading into a village, 100yrds from 60 to 30mph, was treated as a criminal, paid and 3 points on your license..... stealing, breadwinners tools, no priority!
So glad to see you back, Richard! Really hoping for some more videos soon. We will try to watch for the BBC special over here in the US. Crackin'!

Love watching these, can you upload more of your recoveries ?
Frustrating as the same thieves who will steal a cut off saw will also steal more expensive plant.
The cost in damage they make breaking in to a van often runs into thousands.
Yes good point ....we could have mentioned that this type of tool could be used for yet more theft, cutting locks and chains, cutting out the sides of shipping containers or removal of van roofs etc. Bandits don't invest ill gained cash into their tool needs for their trade, they simply collect them up as any tool theft opportunity arises.
Very nice to see a video again !! Keep them coming please !
How can the police have any chance of investigating this type of crime while they are so busy investigating non crime hate incidents?
Betcha they can count "hate crimes" in the crime statistics for "solved".
I love watching these videos it’s mainly the satisfaction of watching you get the things back you have to upload more

Serial numbers and post codes should be stamped, punched or engraved into the metal or plastic structure of the tool or vehicle in multiple places, so that removing its identification would cause destruction of the entire tool or vehicle.
At a minimum put a rfid tag in the middle of the item somewhere with the product serial so you have to disassemble to remove it....
Absolutely fit one or two RFIDs, like an AirTag, so that you can track your item with your mobile.
Fantastic video as usual, so frustrating that in a world where these thefts are rife the police are more concerned about speed trapping than dealing with real crime! Look forward to the bbc program! The country needs to appreciate the service you offer!

Fair play on the police for actually attending, but that aside I’m just horrified at their attitude. There’s a crime been committed ffs!
However in the case of this property I do wonder if it’s the usual fear they have of dealing with certain people. That place has a certain “look” about it both in this video and Google streetview and I’ve a good idea that the coppers simply don’t want to get involved.
