I am getting jealous when I look at the ground and foundation, our is huge gap now from the drought in Texas and the Gas meter is offset! Thanks for the video!
Use Dum Dum Tape for sealing the gas line up to the house. It's butyl and ground cork rolled onto double sided waxed paper then coiled. It's the consistency of Play-doh with a grainy texture from the cork bits. It's non drying and stays somewhat gooey and workable even in cold weather. Typically you'll find it used on AC condenser wiring and Freon lines where they go through the siding. It doesn't dry out and fills those holes in the siding where the utilities go into the house a lot better than silicone or latex caulk.
i use restoleum protective enamel like you did but i bought a pint of the version paint with a brush. That way don't have to recoat and don't have to worry about overspray at all. and the other comment to really match the utilities color gotta use smoke grey. looking at your job looked like a two tone color the utility side was smoke grey your side was silver
Oh, I totally agree that a can and brush is MUCH less messy (though you can still splatter paint) but I find spray paint makes a much "neater" application. You may also want to be careful about putting TOO much paint on the meter, just it ever needs to be serviced.
Tom's Home Improvement Videos the brush type of paint can achieve the same quality if u use a good quality brush also since the coat done by brush is thicker the paint job lasts years more Versus spray coats my line is 26 yes old have done spray and paint. The spray jobs lasted maybe three years the painted jobs 6
The mistake I saw and advise others of is that there is a dielectric union which should have been masked off it cannot be painted as current will pass through
Appreciate you show us the video and all. But it seems like s job for the utilities company, right? Besides the meter and the gas pipes are not your property. Am I missing something here?
I apologize.... I have no idea what I was thinking or what happened to that video clip.... I believe I used a hard plastic brush and just sorta buffed most of the rust away. I think someone else suggested using a wire brush but I was nervous about creating sparks. Probably not a real concern unless you think you have a gas leak...
Yeah, I think I just used a plastic brush and some water. Just something to get off the dirt and dust. It will have to be dried or patted down with a towel before painting. The cleaning is just to make sure the paint sticks well. Good luck!
ROFLMAO!, so I wake up this morning and my UA-cam is bombarded with "how to paint your rusted gas line" videos. Wtf? I don't have a gas line and I have never shown the slightest interest in gas lines.

The correct color is Rust-Oleum #7786 Smoke Gray
Wow, thanks! I'll look for it next time I'm out...

Usually the line going into your house/property is the owner's responsibility, not the gas company.
What if I use galvanized spay paint? Will it be ok?
swing joint?
How did u get the rust off 1st, you never showed that?

@@HomeImprovementVideos yeah that's what I'm wondering want to get the rust off mine.
@@MicSustianevo Brass brush. End of problem. If you have gas to light with any sparks then you have issues to take up with the gas company.
Do you just clean it with water and dish scrubber?

And now you have shown interest. Recommended feed for evah!
It’s not cardboard. It’s corrugated fiberboard. Just sayin’.
Call the gas company they'll paint it for free.
Not the half that the homeowner is responsible for.
@@depalmafamily1998 i called they did mine for free.
